I've been battling shade since I started gardening. With the loss of that oak tree last year I got quite a bit more sun in my back yard garden. Some beds even get more than 6 hour this time of year now. So I'm having to re-learn the lighting of my little micro-climate. Now if I could just do something about the heat!

Thanks for the video. I have a lot of shade so you are giving me hope that I can grow a decent amount of plants without full sun.

Nice video -- thank you. Our farmhouse is surrounded by ancient oak trees. They are great for keeping the house cool in the summer, but not so great for growing sun-loving veges. But I still wanted to try growing some type of vegetables near the house. So in early April I ordered some Tree Kale cuttings from Clayton Farms and planted them in an area that gets mottled light throughout the day. So far they are appear to handle the low light condition just fine. Tree Kale is a new and exotic vegetable for me. It can grow up to 6 feet tall and puts out branches that will start more plants. My goal is to have them multiply over the years so that I can plant them throughout my shady area.

Blueberries are also a shade tolerant plant. They are an understory shrub. ❤️

This doesn't make sense! You say Swiss Chard can grow in as little as 4-6 hours of sun a day, but you just put up a graphic that says 6-8 hours of sun a day is FULL SUN!! 6 hours would be full sun! I thought you were giving us plants that grow in the SHADE!! Confusing, worthless video. Sorry!!

“Shade” is not 4-6 hours of sunshine.
