    I watched everything I could find on youtube before making the decision and yours is the best one I came across as most of the other reviews came across to me as trying to sell the device but didn't go into depth of showing the features/pros/cons while yours are actually helpful for me because you are reviewing it as a rider, for example you mentioned the Bluetooth connection of the TFT to the intercom and phone was problematic (which I share the same experience, they work but I can tell the connection is not the best because audio quality is mediocre at best and unstable intermittently especially I am not on the bike but nearby), the bmw app which logs rides is a great feature and you also noticed and brought up the concern of losing that feature if we choose to use phone as the center point of BT connection instead of using TFT. You also showed how the device was put on to BMW's nav prep and how wunderwheel interacts with it, all small details but are really helpful and few others are actually showing in their reviews. Thank you for the great video!

    nice vid! I bought a second hand cradle for my 1300. Personally i will use my phone in the cradle as it does everything the AIO-5 does since its an android phone, not just BMW connected app as you said. Plus your Phone will drain battery since it is connected the Aio unit. You are essentially buying another phone to sit permanently on your bike by buying the A10-5. Id rather use that for gas haha. Just my opinion

      I found it hard controlling my phone with gloves on and also the screen felt smaller and even more problematic when the screen locks up.

    Hello, nice review. I also have the aio 5 bmw edition. But there is small carplay problem. When navigating through voice with Waze or Google Maps, Chigee uses the iPhone's microphone and not that of the (Senna) headset. So navigating while riding with Google/ Waze voice command does not work. Because my phone is in my pocket. But when navigating with Siri, the microphone of my headset is used.
    Siri for navigation is just not as accurate as direct through google or waze. But atleast it works unlike ' ok google' for android auto. So i am still very happy with the unit.

    Great explanation, but will the Chigee work with the original BMW navigation app "Make Life a ride" on my smartphone. The reason I ask is simple. If you want to continue to use the original BMW app on the smartphone, it must connect via the BMW cradle or HUB at least every 6 months to be able to update it. How can this work if you no longer use the cradle and have the Chigee instead?

    • @AdvExOz
      @AdvExOz  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question, unfortunately the answer at this stage is that you cant run the connected ride app and it won't log ride data. If BMW decides to make the app android auto and apple carplay compatible, only then will it work.
      Having said said , if you have the cradle you can always connect it back occasionally and update the app and data. I tend to do that from time to time.
      Sorry for not being much help.

    I’ve been wondering how navigation (Chigee or otherwise) works when your phone has no service? I presume you’re on your own when that happens? My previous BMW had a Nav 5 so I never had to worry about losing my navigation when I was riding in remote areas.

    • @AdvExOz
      @AdvExOz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question!
      With Google maps and wase you are spot on in that you will be on your own unless you download offline maps.
      This devices also let's use others maps like 'my route' which form my understanding doesn't works on GPS. So that might work but I will need to test it out.
      If you are a serious off-road person and travel remotely, then this probably won't be the best navigation option.

    Hi, nice review, thank you.
    When are you going to review the carpuride?
    We are with 3 friends and bought a W702 for our 11 day trip a couple of months ago.
    It had the big problem that it randomly disconnected from Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
    Everyday there were 2 or 3 disconnects and we needed to reboot the phone and the Carpuride.
    I have already sold mine.
    I wonder if you will have this experience.

    • @AdvExOz
      @AdvExOz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Coincidentally I just received the Carpuride w502 pro yesterday. Have not unboxed it yet and won't be able to comment just yet on how it is, but I do know many that have raised similar issues as you have.
      I have had the Chiggie on for several rides now and I have not had any issues with it getting disconnected, keeping in mind that I have only tested on android auto and not apple car play.
      I think the chigee is just a better product all around.
      Will release a review on the Carpuride and also a ride review on the Chiggie soon.
      Please do subscribe to the channel. Thanks mate!

    Did you take a moment to test the voice commands for Chigee using your BT helmet device? Android Auto is incompatible with Chigee's BT voice control. Just try saying "hey google" when you are synched - some development still required here.

    • @AdvExOz
      @AdvExOz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi , that's correct, it doesn't quite work.
      At the time of recording I did not test with BT device. I can confirm that if you have google maps displayed on the Chiggie and then you summon "hey google" manually on the Cardo( by hitting the button) it actually works. Unfortunately this only works for Google maps and you need to ensure your phone is stored unlocked.
      Unfortunately the issue is with the Android Auto interface and Chiggie did release a statement saying that they are working on it on their support website.

  • @CharlieMirakel
    @CharlieMirakel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @AdvExOz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, thats correct. At the time of recording, I had not test that out yet. I just run a quick test and can now confirm that thats correct. The voice control fuctionality doesnt really work yet.
      I did try the 'ok google' function and that works when you are using google maps. I will touch base with Chigee on this.

    • @CharlieMirakel
      @CharlieMirakel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Chigee mentioned on there support website that they are working on it. At this moment they admit there is no support for voice control with Android Auto via Bluetooth headset. (simptom: you can do a " hey Google" call and it will respond but after that, the headset microphone stops working. Keep in mind: it uses the Chigee build in microphone but that does not make any sense while driving a bike 🫣)

    • @paulv22
      @paulv22 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AdvExOz I should retract the comment, partially. The unit can be powered by USB-C if you use a dumb charger. If you use a charger with PD or IQ, it doesn't seem to work, but if it's a typical USB-A dumb wall wart, it does. This is helpful for updating as it seems it needs to be very close to a wifi access point for this.

    • @AdvExOz

      Thanks Paul, I think it's fine. No need to retract. I recently released a video where I install the aio-5 Play on the Ducati Desert X. I used the USB A port that's available on the bike and it works. You are absolutely right in saying that it works on some but not all and I think that's got to do with the power that the USB port supplies.

    I wish these guys would clearly state the Chigee only works with cell phone Apps that are compatible with Android Auto/Car Play. They give the impression that the Chigee mirrors your cell phone apps/screen. Well, that's BS. For example, if your cell phone is running the DMD2 App, which runs and shows GPX navigation files/routes on your cell phone, then you won't see it on the Chigee. I'm not blaming Chigee, I am blaming these YT reviewers that don't address the limitations of the device.

      You are right, it does rely on compatible apps. I am glad you brought this up as many viewers may not have realised this.
      I would also like to point out that I did try my level best to clarify this point in this video at 29:45.
      In subsequent videos, I also verified that GAIA app also works, and with the use of GPX files too . Again this is connected via your phone (android auto/Apple car play)
