I actually think i prefer the halftime that he did. That extra space just gives it a little bit more of a gut punch... those fills were absolutely....uhh... killer 😂
Its crazy when you have people like this and Chad Smith for example. They can play anything. They never heard this song before, but they heard a thousand songs in this genre that sound like this. They have played them a million times. What crazy talent.
chad smiths confidence was so freaking amazing. i respect this take just as much but chad smith's personality really adds something not many people would ever be able to pull off.
Man, these session drummers are something else. They can play anything. Ive heard someone say The Foo Fighters are the best cover band of all time, because they can play anything. They are like a session band. Elite musicians.
Say what you want about megadeth. But Dave surrouds himself with badass musicians. This is not what this dude plays everyday for his pay. He's not just a drummer. He's a musician.
This was one of the best reaction to that video I've seen. really appreciated you not pausing it constantly and talking over it, very nice insight. Great vid man!
@@TheHonestTake I've seen in some apps there's just a bar and you can just straight turn off each instrument or turn the volume down individually. We live in the future 😂
There is a fuck ton on TH-cam alone! I drum to them often, like going random on the playlist too to mix it up! REM into avenged into Carlos Santana into REO speedwagon 😂😂
@@TheHonestTake That's awesome. I never knew that. I thought halftime was half speed/tempo. Playing on the 1 and 3 is very great way of putting it to non-musicians who have heard of 2 -4. Its not just slower 2 4 its 1 3. Music theory is so fun to learn. Im sure what I said makes no sense.
I do not think "vulnerable" is the word. they might find a couple of ooh and aah moments while listening to the original. I also believe they check the ego out while doing an exercise like this. Also, a new sub. Saw a couple of videos from you and I thought... what a grounded reaction! ... like irl. Love it.
there is some online websites that you can delete the drum part more or less... i try the free version on some of this websites and work ok ... but for sure the paid version is better ... also i read that AI make a drummles song almost perfect...
To be fair, Dirk is NOT American / British, and many of the bands he's been in are legit death metal bands from places like Sweden. This is not his bag.
“There is only so much the human mind can remember” then care to explain to me how the fuck I know the jingles from annoying adverts I saw 25 years ago bro! Haha first time watching dude il be back. Loved the review
I love how metalheads (myself included ;)) have these contradictory traits. On one hand he's a drummer in the American trash metal band Megadeth, on the other hand he's a down to earth straightedge vegan / animal lover from Belgium.
the drumless tracks are from drumeo the app the runs the channel ... the channel is just a walking adversing for the drumeo app ... you can get your first month for free
We learned from the Dream Theater auditions that even VERY skilled drummers have a difficult time coming up with drum parts on the spot. That proved that it is very difficult to find drummers that can come up with drum parts on a first listen. They may have a hard time finding drummers for this series for that very reason. It takes great skill to do what we witnessed here and what Chad Smith did. Very difficult.
Special Comment: The Killers is "huge" in England, but it's not in the USA. I once asked a Producer on the LA LLoyd Rock 30 radio show and he told me that the band was not that big (during that day; during that time) and that is why it was never on the countdown. The song is very nice, and this drummer adds his metal drumming to it, and it gives it a lot of flavor, but this band is not that popular, and its music is hardly played on my local radio rock station. May 31, 2024. USA
There are several AI online tools to remove or even split the tracks by instruments. Still, in the case of Drumeo I think they just reached the studios where these songs were recorded and bought the tracks and did some dark magic with the rights too because as far as I know, videos on their channel are not demonetized.
What? I'm Belgian, it's famous here as well. The music video definitely was on MTV back in 2003, and a lot of the stuff that MTV played was also played on the radio and in stores.
I'm Belgian from Brussels and The killers was ultra popular, I didn't remember the name exactly but it used to be on the radio all the time back in the late 90s and early 2000s lol. My mom who was born in 1954 absolutely loved them, heard it plenty of times in the car as a kid too lol (also Chris Isaak for some reason)
you can youtube drumless tracks but they most likely engineer it themselves you remind me of a professional that acts like he knows it all but the reality has so much more to learn. like the fact you expect all these top dogs to know these songs based off the fact everyone knows them but the thing is with REAL musicians they dedicate their whole lives to their craft since birth it usually blinds them in a good way and they just focus on themselves if they let outside influence change their true perception then they wouldnt exist . not everyone knows everything but those who know less can learn more also atheism plays a part in why people dont suceed with their talents
Love how the change of tempo, changed the whole feeling of the song.
Half time is always a wild ride!
I actually think i prefer the halftime that he did. That extra space just gives it a little bit more of a gut punch... those fills were absolutely....uhh... killer 😂
Ba dum chi 😂
Honestly, I really dig how this changes the tone of nearly the entire song
Its crazy when you have people like this and Chad Smith for example. They can play anything. They never heard this song before, but they heard a thousand songs in this genre that sound like this. They have played them a million times. What crazy talent.
Wow I actually prefer this version, it’s so groovy
The fills are perfect.
chad smiths confidence was so freaking amazing. i respect this take just as much but chad smith's personality really adds something not many people would ever be able to pull off.
yeah, but in Chad Smith's case what suprised me the most was that he didn't even listen to entire song just "it's on 3" and started playing along.
For the record, the first time I heard Mr. Brightside was in the original drumeo video.
Man, these session drummers are something else. They can play anything. Ive heard someone say The Foo Fighters are the best cover band of all time, because they can play anything. They are like a session band. Elite musicians.
you got my like sir, only one i found who did not pause this masterpiece
Say what you want about megadeth. But Dave surrouds himself with badass musicians. This is not what this dude plays everyday for his pay. He's not just a drummer. He's a musician.
Yeah you even said it yourself, he surrounds himself with actual musicians while he himself is a selfish bitter loser of the entire genre.
AGUANTE DIRK es un GENIOOOO ❤ SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷
This was one of the best reaction to that video I've seen. really appreciated you not pausing it constantly and talking over it, very nice insight. Great vid man!
I’ll be honest, I think I’ve only ever heard this song maybe once before, maybe twice. But yeah, I’ve never LISTENED to it before.
It’s a great drum song, it also has religious undertones if I’m not mistaken
To answer your question about the drumless tracks pretty sure drumroll has a TON. Great content man 🤙
Thanks!
@@TheHonestTake I've seen in some apps there's just a bar and you can just straight turn off each instrument or turn the volume down individually. We live in the future 😂
Another app used for separating tracks in music is Moises drumeo and El estipario have both mentioned it

@simonedmondson8875 Is this easy to do in an apartment? I have an electronic drum set.
Not much into Megadeth, tobe honest, I think I never listened to a full album o them but this one gave me such respect for him as a drummer. Amazing
Just watch him playing some Soilwork stuff or Devin Townsends Deconstruction studio report.
he is so underutilised in Megadeth its almost criminal :D
Soilwork and Scarve
Rust in Peace. Masterpiece. Nick Menza on the skins and Marty Friedman on guitar.
This sounds like a weezer song now lol I think I like this version more 😮😅
Did or is he changing the tempo for each part of the song ? WOW this is awesome music is something else
No it's called half time instead of playing snare on 2 and 4 you play it on 1 and 3 makes for a super loose slow feel

Doing halftime made the song sound more mellow than than the original, and honestly feels more on theme with the lyrics of the song.
They make drumless tracks on there website and you can TH-cam them
great drummer!!
Check out 66Samus hears Led Zeplin for the first time. The voice notes are awesome.

That's the POINT.
You can usually use an app to remove background audio like drums, wont sound perfectly acapella does a good job
“There is only so much the human mind can remember” then care to explain to me how the fuck I know the jingles from annoying adverts I saw 25 years ago bro! Haha first time watching dude il be back. Loved the review
Moises is a cool app for removing drums or any other instruments or vocals
I love how metalheads (myself included ;)) have these contradictory traits. On one hand he's a drummer in the American trash metal band Megadeth, on the other hand he's a down to earth straightedge vegan / animal lover from Belgium.
I know El Estepario and Drumeo use Moises to make some tracks drumless.
Awesome, thanks!
Please react to dirk playing paramore 🙏
Been super busy with work my friend! Once things calm down I’ll be back at it!

Exactly, well said
Well Mike Mangini was the only drummer out of all of them who prepared for the audition despite being this technical monster.
all the drumless tracks a avalibel on drumeo
All i rly walked away from music classes with was that the teacher had an unhealthy obsession with kiss.

Really? That would actually explain a lot!

The old game Rock Band has the tracks separated if you want an easy way to get the tracks. It's great for late 00s and early 10s songs.
I don't think stores in Belgium (which is where Dirk is from) would play that song though...

This one makes Chad's even crazier because Chad didnt listen to the song first, he just jumped in and started playing.
You check Blackpink 'Pretty Savage' Live at Coachella2023. The drum line is very cool.😁
please react to his take on other song paramore - misery business
He has another? I’ll definitely check that out!
Am I the only one that tjinks these 2 are long list cousins?
Who?
I hate to be that guy...MEGADETH not Megadeath
Ugh, thanks for the catch. I uploaded this via phone and autocorrect must have changed it. Thanks again!
