    For the urine, get a one liter or one and a half liter bottle of liquid laundry detergent from a Family Dollar or other Dollar store. Screw off the top while in the store. If the container has a built-in pour spout, just make sure the pour spout is removable and take it out (after you purchase it, of course). If the pour spout is not removable, just check another brand and find one that either does not have a pour spout at all or has a removable pour spout.
    After you use the liquid laundry detergent, keep the bottle for a urinal. The screw-top lids are usually tight and waterproof, they have wide openings similar to the urinal you have now, the laundry jugs are short and wide and have wide, solid bases that don't tip over easily, they are tilt-able like yours, they have strong, built-in handles that are hollow (so more liquid can be stored), the bottles often smell good (at least for a while), the containers are not see-through, the jugs come in nice colors such a yellow, blue and green so stealth well, and they are cheap.
    I buy these for a disabled family member- much nicer than the ugly urinals. I rinse them every time and also rinse with a smallish amount of some dilute bleach water about every other or third time. If the jugs develop any residue on the insude, just throw half a paper towel into the jug with the small amount of dilute bleach water, close the lid tightly, and give it a good shake before dumping the contents. The paper towel will provide a light scrubbing to the interior. You can dump this in any public toilet too and get a little rinse water while there. And when the jug gets 'old', you can just buy another one for very little money.
    I also use a small hand towel or dish towel to cover up the stuff in the bin where the jacks and the lighter and stuff is to reduce interest and possible theft.

There's honestly a ton of room in it and it gets 37MPG combined so pretty good gas mileage! Been referencing alot of Prius builds for my build plan! Why did you decide to get the roof box vs hitch box? How worried are you about someone breaking into the box to steal your sports gear?

    • @HowNoahSeesIt
      @HowNoahSeesIt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Hitch box would not fit either skis or climbing crash pad... Items are just too big. So had to go with roof box.
      I'm not worried at all. Of course it's a greater risk, but not worth worrying about. Everything up there is non essential too, so it's not the end of the world if it happens.
      I loose about 8mpg w the box - average of 40mpg on highway.

    Thanks!! Great ideas! Did you make room for hybrid fan under the back platform to have air? That’s where my fan is- so kinda trying to consider that in my build. What do you keep in the spare tire area?

    • @HowNoahSeesIt
      @HowNoahSeesIt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep there's even more air room for the hybrid fan than before, so no worries there!
      The spare tire area is divided in two (I put a divider). The right half is for the inverter, which I had professionally installed. The left half is just storage - usually for winter blanket / jacket during non winter.
      And the storage compartment above the spare tire area is for misc storage that I don't use often - like tools, car maintenance stuff, etc.

    • @HowNoahSeesIt

    • @HowNoahSeesIt
      @HowNoahSeesIt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am 5.11 (and a half). I can fully extend in my setup (toes pointing up). However, I don't have the front passenger seat pushed all the way up. So if you do push it up all the way up, I think you will have enough room. I know people who are even taller than you who do it - BUT IT may be tight!
      Edit - some setups even take out the front seat.. in which case you would 100% have a lot of room - but that decreases stealth.

    Nice upgrades! Question: why not just cut down that third section of the memory foam mattress to fit for your feet? Also, have you considered the Instant Pot?

    • @HowNoahSeesIt
      @HowNoahSeesIt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks!
      Just never thought of that initially! But yeah I could have totally just cut off the 3rd section, trimmed it, and used as my "feet pillow". Regular pillows work well too though!
      I've thought about instant pot! Although they use a lot more power I think (correct me if wrong) - I have a big enough inverter, but I tend to like low wattage appliances - less strain and all. I also like how fast the hot pot makes food (10-12 mins). But tbh an instant pot would prolly be cool!

      It charges whenever the car is turned on. With just that, the battery is topped off everyday. (Probably 3-4 hours on a day)

    I've logged about 1.5 years in my Prius, and I can't understand why people add battery banks to them. I have a 1200w inverter (I've heard that 1500w can lead to problems) and I'm able to charge devices/tools and run a fridge. These cars are generators on wheels, so why complicate matters?

    • @HowNoahSeesIt
      @HowNoahSeesIt  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have 1500 watt inverter, works great. The reason you need a battery bank is to have power when the car isn't on. So this is necessary to keep the fridge powered all day (or at night). Necessary to charge devices overnight. Etc.

      I was a full time RVer for 12 years. 3 different smaller MH. Not trying to tell you want to do, but from my 12 years experience I’d never get anything that screams (RV) That’s why the van thing is going crazy. I’ve been out if it for 5 years. If I was to ever go back to nomad living, it would be a van. Waaay to many hassles with something that screams RV.

      @@dennisconrad6124 The only thing about these vans is that you can always tell its a RV. From the giant side windows , roof racks, external water fill and dump ports, and solar panels. The only way to truly be stealth is with a pass through box truck that has absolutely no windows or a work van with the same but then you lose amenities and the ability to live off grid. Plus if it looks like a regular old van or box truck, depending on where you live, you run the risk of someone attempting to steal it while you're asleep inside of it.

      @@kurtcrafton Just to be clear, I wasn’t talking about a van that’s basically a Class B RV with all the things you listed. Of coarse that screams RV. In the past, you could drive one of those. But society has changed. Lots of people still think you can pull into Walmart and stay. Not so! The town might have a ordnance that says you can’t, and Walmart is going to follow it.
      As we go forward with so many people living out of their cars, vans, and the homeless situation getting worse, and it’s going to, it’s only going to be a bigger problem. If you don’t have a physical address where you can say you “live, your considered homeless. It’s actually illegal to be homeless. Yes there’s work arounds. But that’s going to get harder and harder. You can’t even get a Post Office box if you can’t prove a physical address.
      I just lived it for 12 years and I seen it changing during those 12 years. I’ve been out of it for 5 years now, but I know is only gotten worse since.
      The stealthiest guy I even seen was a guy that had lived 3 years in downtown LA in a regular cargo van. Like maybe a Astro. He had a couple different magnetic signs he would put on the side, like “Jim’s Plumbing” etc. then he’d leave a hard hat up on the dash, with a clipboard that looked like it had work orders on it. He said in 3 years, he’d never gotten a knock on the door. I’ve gotten the knock on the door many times and have to get up in the middle of the night and hit the road. I’ve even been kicked out of Rest Areas.

      LOL yes it's quite high. That's just how the bars are at least for that brand. Not been an issue at all

      Yes….at the end of the day it’s a Prius….and that’s why Prius owners love them.

      Sorry you had a negative experience with it! It's not for everyone. For me, it's extremely liberating.

      @@HowNoahSeesItI wouldn't want to live in a house or other building. It's very imprisoning. And I have experienced living in houses, apartments, duplexes, quadplexes, dorms, barracks, VOQ, portables, mobile homes, and a few more.
      The #1 problem I have with a Prius is not being able to separate the living space from the mechanical for those times when it needs to go to the shop.
