    Your production quality is off the charts amazing! Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a trailer for an avengers movie 😆 that door and frame turned out perfect! Like the spraying of the hardware too! Reminds me of this 6 unit huge apartment building I did two years ago, all the doors got converted and the oldstyle brass hardware was sprayed a darkish gray. @@PaintHQ Hi, hope you're well. I enjoyed the course and feel like a HVLP setup would complement the GX21FF well.
      Would you recommend a dedicated HVLP turbine, or the Gentilin compressor setup from Sprayman? Or something else entirely?
      If the Gentilin setup, how different is it to a HVLP turbine?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah great news, thanks for the feedback 👍 ..that’s a very good question.. basically there’s advantages to both, whilst essentially the atomising technology and results will be the same.. both using air, with a turbine using stages of ‘concentrating’ the air to a ‘HVLP limit’ and a compressor using a conventional method of a tank and compressing the air, with a theoretical ‘no limit’.. Turbine technology will typically be more expensive for a quality unit such as the Graco‘s, I say quality because cheaper units can overheat and cut out or you won’t get the same number of stages to generate the air.. a Turbine unit is lighter and more manoeuvrable, but the airline is thicker and more weighty.. whereas the compressor is heavier to lift out the van and carry up stairs (if required).. but like I do, I often setup in another room or even outside and run the much thinner and flexible airline to the pressure pot.. on that note, I prefer the advantages of a regulated pressure pot, which is more easily achieved with a compressor Vs the passive setup you can achieve with a turbine.. unless you was to purchase a Graco Procomp 9.5 which is excellent technology with its onboard compressor that’s dedicated to purely pressurising a remote pot.. but that’s a bit more of an investment Vs the cost of a compressor.. lastly, with a (suitable) compressor you have the future ability to convert an existing airless unit to AAA - Air Assisted Airless.. the ultimate in a hybrid between airless and airspray technology, which greatly improves transfer efficiency and control 👍 ..Hope this helps a little, sorry for the essay.. my friend Mike at SpraymanUK will be more than happy to assist further with no pressure to purchase, his knowledge is very inspiring 😆 ..and of course I’m more than happy to help any way I can.. in fact I’m with SpraymanUK at this years National P&D show (in November), if you can make it, it’ll be a nice to meet up for a chat 🙏 regards Pete

    Hi great video thanks. I like how it shows all the areas needed to be protected and taped up for doing the edges etc. I’m a beginner in spraying and these videos do help.
    On the HVLP is there a go to pressure to spray at or are every paint different depending on temperatures etc ?
    Thank you.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nicholas, really appreciate the feedback.. yeah and with a little practice the masking doesn’t take long at all.. great question.. the pressure (and fluid pressure, if using a pressure pot) does vary from different paints and environment / temperature like you say.. but you do get used to knowing roughly where you’ll be, as you stir the paint and let it run off the stick.. a great tip especially when starting out, is make a note on your phone ..with airless or HVLP spraying, it helps to note the product and settings / tip size, how it sprayed and if you would alter anything next time.. keep in touch, always happy to help and advise if I can.. good luck on your spraying journey, you won’t look back.. regards Pete

      Thank you Pete, I have a airless and HVLP sprayers. I intended to use the HVLP on mainly spindles as I hate brushing them 😂 but yet to use it or even test it out. The airless I got on fine with the few times I have used it for ceilings and miss coating plaster.
      I tend to overthink it all and get paranoid about the cleaning of the machines, but in time I’ll work out how it can be done quick, and good enough that it doesn’t have to be immaculate looking when cleaned !
      Thank you. 👍

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah that’s great.. airless is certainly easier to master in terms of the logic / process to get spraying, but that said HVLP isn’t difficult either, like everything it becomes second nature with practice.. same with cleaning the sprayers, I’m quite meticulous but they are very forgiving, especially an airless pump being used the next day, it doesn’t necessarily need to be 100% clean.. I’m an advocate of using Pump Armor, it’s worth it and can be reused so it definitely lasts 👍 ..Keep going my friend.. regards Pete

      @PaintHQ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Aaron.. good question.. I do like the ‘versatility’ of the compressor / air spray setup.. less limitations.. portability of the turbine is a big plus.. but then you can setup the compressor sone distance away and run a more flexible air line.. if going with a turbine, I like an onboard compressor to power a remote pot, that you get with the Graco ProComp.. more costly investment but worth it for the dedicated air 👍👍👍 regards Pete

    Would you recommend this comp/gun combo for kitchen remodel where hi quality finish is the most important requirement?
    I have seen your other upload where you resprayed mahogany banisters, there seemed to be hardly any overspray?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey buddy, really appreciate your kind words of support. There was a time that the only way to deliver the finest finish was via HVLP (or even better air assisted airless), now with fine finish airless spray tips, such as Graco FF LP the gap has massively closed.. so it’s a tricky to give a definitive answer.. certainly if you’re spraying the inside of cabinets too and the area being sprayed is tight, it helps to have more fluid and fan control with HVLP.. whereas cabinet doors and cabinet faces, it’s popular to choose airless and lay on the optimal amount of material.. HVLP is trickier to master, too little fluid / a thin coat will result in a rougher finish.. on the subject of overspray (and HVLP), if the fan is narrow you need less air and the control is good (less overspray.. like the banister I sprayed), whereas if you widen the fan, you need more fluid and more air to ‘throw’ the paint wide.. then the trade off with the air is more ‘fog’ ..overspray.. sorry if I’ve caused any confusion, I can appreciate it can all sound complicated.. happy to help some more.. if you need me just reach out 🙏 regards Pete

Have used a few different tapes but nothing is reliable. Had to resort to sliding thin metal plates under skirting or just pulling carpets up and re fitting them. Any advice? Cheers again.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, apologies for my delayed response, I will always get back to you.. your support means a lot and I’m so pleased the videos have helped.. what I recommend is a 2” crepe paper masking tape, not the precision washi tapes.. they’re not the real cheap paper tapes, nonetheless it’s not an expensive tape..I’m going to recommend 3 brands / products.. Q1 multi purpose (yellow), Tesa general masking tape and Kip crepe masking tape.. all have good sticking power to hold down the carpet fibres at the edge.. one issue you could be experiencing, is some synthetic carpets have a protective ‘stain repellent’ that would pretty much prevent any tape sticking, even a duct tape.. good luck my friend, keep in touch.. regards Pete

    • @James-po4xt
      @James-po4xt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy to help my friend.. airless spraying is the easier to master Vs HVLP, and with the introduction of Fine Finish airless spray tips, the atomisation is on par with HVLP.. with airless, I don’t thin trim / woodwork paints (don’t look to thin an emulsion either, only to ease flow).. with the right airless spray tip for the viscosity, you should be able to dial in the lowest pressure to effective atomise the paint.. with HVLP and a pressure pot (I prefer a pot), again I don’t look to thin, but it is more likely to need to thin Vs that of airless.. with a pressure pot you get dedicated air to get the paint flowing, rather than for passive air of a gravity cup.. for other reason also, I prefer a compressor / air spray HVLP setup rather than a turbine.. so if you was to be looking to be spraying joinery and you’re new to spraying, I’d go airless (it’s easier).. then in future you could even look at adding a compressor and going Air Assisted Airless.. it’s all money, so I’d recommend one step at a time, but AAA is the ultimate in transfer efficiency and finish.. I more than happy to help and advise further, get you talking to the team at SpraymanUK.. in fact end of November I’m with SpraymanUK at the National P&D trade show in Coventry, it’s a 2 day event.. if that’s accessible to you, we can meet up for a good chat, show you kit, talk paints etc 👍 ..keep in touch... regards Pete

      Hi Alan, good question my friend.. it was part of the finishing decoration for a bathroom company that’s beautifully fitted anthracite cabinetry and black sanitary ware, so all joinery that’s internal to the bathroom has been colour matched 👍 ..regards Pete

      Lovely work Pete, but the hinge side of the frame and door should remain as existing I.e white/varnish , so when you open the door from the other room that's what you see , not the inside colour,
      Keep up the great work and videos
