    I love this video so much! When my children were very small, I just could not throw away all of their funny little stick figure drawings. A friend told me I needed to let them go, but I decided I appreciated their art too and every little step mattered. I bought a container with 3 drawers (I have 3 children) and each year, their drawers would fill up with almost every piece of art they made. At the end of the year, they all went into binders and every year they take all the old ones out and laugh and celebrate at how much their art has improved. They are nearly all teenagers now and they are still collecting art. We have a lot of binders on our shelves!! I am amazed at how skilled they've become and convinced that keeping their art was one thing that spurred them on. The most fun thing about this is that I really didn't know the effect this collecting of their art would have. It's inspired me to finally go back and do art again as an adult which I gave up in college because I "didn't think I was good enough." I didn't have the mindset of practice at all. The mindset is growing which I why I have found your videos!! Thank you again for sharing!!!

    Thank you for not being afraid to be real, we love you, well I think most of us do. The ones that don’t, do not matter. I feel that you come out side yourself more than any other TH-cam artist I’ve watched. I mean It feels kind of like a marriage between us and you. Your channel is the only one that I read others comments about you, those artists and or students like myself matter to me also, and I don’t have to walk go drive somewhere to get this. I only have to keep my phone charged 😍

    I like how you approach the sketches where proportions are off - you find it amusing and don't stress over that. Sketches that are off bring me down so much, I sometimes struggle to continue in the same sketchbook. You have a really refreshing attitude, will keep in mind, next time I draw a man that has a huge head and tiny shoulders :D

    I've always told you that I love your honesty and openness about your artwork and it's progress. You are not afraid to show us how you are coming along as an artist. Keeping the books are such a good idea. I used to think that it was a waste of space to keep my old ones, but then thought, how would I know if I'm improving or chugging along in the same old rut. I always take my book and pencil case with me to the coffee shop, library or park, even though I have to take by backpack. It's such a good way to just draw and try out things without worrying too much about the outcome. Anyway, enough rambling. Just thank you for the great video, Liron. Cheers!

    How nice to see your sketchbooks, Lyron. I treasure mine as well. I just started a 365 day project of drawing people this year. I have always been afraid of drawing people and felt inferior as an artist because of it so I decided not to share my sketches for now but rather focus on actually doing it every day.

    I loved seeing this. It’s encouraging that I will improve. I love my sketch books. I feel no pressure for perfectionism in them and all the freedom for experimentation. One year ago I intended to sketch or paint everyday but it’s taken me the whole year to develop the discipline to do that. Now it’s a thing that I do every day. Looking forward to 1 year from now.

    Maybe you experienced something like this too. I don't sketch in my Sketchbook I only do full pieces because I want it to be beautiful (?) and when I sketch in it I rip the pages out and throw them away... It sounds so stupid but Im scared to do ugly or bad art and even though I don't show anyone my Sketchbook Im still nervous😆 but your video kinda helped me so I will try to stop ripping out pages it's gonna be hard for me idk why... And I love your art :)

      Haha happy it helped! I will soon make a video that will help you with that too (:

    Thanks Liron. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and seeing your sketches. I've never been good at sketching so I really admire your skill. I do paint in journals though and agree with what you've said. Looking at my stash I've found them to be almost like reading diaries in my choice of subjects and pigments. I can see where my head/heart was at given times. As for using them as an educational tool, they've taught me how to become almost instantly looser when getting too tight. Even in the midst of a piece when feeling tightness setting in, I still break to do a quick seascape... works every time to loosen me up and I never would have thought of it without viewing vacation seascapes in my journals. I'm not sure why doing seascapes works that way for me. Maybe its fewer forms or even that I enjoy seascape pigments so much or seeing how sky and sea ones play with each other but, as I said, it works and I'm pretty sure that without the journals it would have taken longer for the light bulb to go on if it ever did because I don't live by the sea. Edit: Happy New Year to you and yours.

      @LironYan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an amazing (and helpful) thing to discover!
      We all have these positive "triggers" that help us bring out our looseness and spontaneity.
      I actually have a mental picture I imagine in my mind that helps me with that (it's a picture of a brush dancing on the paper very freely, and it has certain colors in it and everything).
      Thank you 😊🙏🏼 Wishing you an amazing 2019!

    Thank you for sharing this video. I love to see these stages of your work. They show the progress, the path you took to reach your current skills, and show a direction for me to follow as well. I have been so curious, can you make a video about your journey in this career? , which tells how long you have been painting, how you began, how you learned, how long you.... your path, art schools if you went, how old you are, those sort of things, podcast, your books, and this insta and TH-cam. ;) Would love to get to know more. ;)

    Thank s for sharing Liron! I look forward to seeing more of your sketchbooks... I am on my first sketchbook! So exciting for me. I am actually working from two books at once. I keep a smaller one in my car with a set of pencils so I can sketch something along my journeys. I have a larger one I keep at home by my chair in the living room so I can just relax and draw my surroundings or practice a technique. My daughter bought me a handmade leather bound small book that I am going to reserve for line and wash drawings of birds and flowers and that sort of thing. I enjoy your video’s so much and appreciate all your efforts and excitement to share what you’ve learned! You truly inspire me to pick up my paper, pencils and paint and actually do something! God Bless you

I have done various art related hobbies, but always admired and wished I could just sketch what I see in front of me, particularly people. Now that I’m stuck at home, what a perfect time to try to do this. Thanks, I look forward to many more of your videos.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's always a challenge to do the thing you're not used to.
      If you do too many large and developed pieces, it gets harder to do simplified sketches as well.
      But I know exactly what you mean. It's almost as if there is "too much" space to fill 😂
      Quick tip - **slowly and gradually** increase the size you work it. It helps.
