Well done mate 👌 yeah always got to be careful with the weather on this, went up in bad weather once when I was inexperienced and lost my bearings, nearly walked off the side 🙃
@@Gmoz79 it's boss mate, been up a few times, just keep an eye on that wind tomorrow, MWIS is saying arduous when exposed so just be careful mate, have a good one 👌👌
Great video mate. Was up there on Saturday, bloody boiling it was! First time actually doing it, every other time I've been to Blencathra it's been gopping wet, blowing a gale or I've had the dog with me! It wasn't as scary as I imagined it to be from the bottom, still wouldnt fancy it in the wet though!
Yeah same mate I was on there about 9.30am, when I started to ascend up Souther Fell I from my car I couldn't stop sweating it was that hot, got majorly sunburnt as well, I've been up there in bad conditions myself and I can be a bit sketchy when slippy but in the dry I feel safe, I think a lot of it comes down to what's in peoples minds, I don't find most of the lakes as bad as some people have made out
Ill put a poll up mate and see if people would like to see some videos, I always said I didnt fancy them but I might just do them for some content and something different to do, theyre not massive long walks so would be fairly easy to do 💪
@@EddieSkelson tbh mate I don't think there is anything better than a pair of boots, I feel more secure and less likely to slip than in a shoe type or trainers
I wear Salewa which I really like but they are expensive, my brother swears by Scarpa and if your looking for fairly decent price I've had various Berghaus in the past and there pretty decent and always on sale👌
I personally think Sharp Edge is more sketchier in the sense of exposure, its a lot narrower, Striding edge is longer to pass over and it also has a safer route worse case.
Tackled this today, just got past the bad step and the rain came in, made that last scramble a bit more difficult with how slippery the rocks were

Looks great fun. Hoping to do it tommorow, weather looks decent enough. Last time it was wet and windy so went up the other side to the summit. 🤞

@@MattDoesMountainsDid it mate, bit windy but great fun. Definitely not for the faint hearted

Would you consider completing the 116 Wainwright outlying fells now you've finished the main 214?

What’s your go-to footwear for this kind of ascent, Matt?

How do you compare this to striding edge of Helvellyn?

@@MattDoesMountains cheers, will be doing Blencathra this coming weather permitting. If it's wet and windy, I'll take the easy path. Thanks again.
