16:20 that's Halls Fell Ridge, great scramble that, quite long, I usually come up that way. Top day that, got the weather for a change 😊 I think the cross was built in memory of someone who lived in Threlkeld below, been there years that but don't remember it being that big 😮
Funny enough another person I follow literally posted a video the other day scrambling up that ridge for a wild camp on Blencathra, Looks a belter and would love to tackle it at some point for a different perspective, you've just reminded me to check the cross out and yeah your right lad, a memorial for somebody who died near by, I think when I first went up with you about 15 years ago it looked completely different
Excellent video Matt. Minus Mungrisdale Common and I'll probably park at the City Hall if I get there early enough, this is the route I have planned for next May. I have this and a special Helvellyn one as my 2 long routes and this one is at the top of my list that is a *MUST DO*. On a good day naturally. Keep it up and can't wait for the next one
Yeah this is a great walk and mungrisdale is easy avoided coming off Blentcathra, unless your specifically wainwright bagging I don't think its really worth doing myself mate, What summits are you going for on the Helvellyn walk?
@@MattDoesMountains For Helvellyn we are starting at Dunmail Raise and taking the path along Raise Beck to Grisedale Tarn then up the zig zig path to Dollywagon, over to Nethermost, Helvellyn, Lower Man, Whiteside, and Raise and drop down at Sticks pass. This is really the only one we have planned that we could take advantage of the Stagecoaches. I can alter it and do the tourist path from Wythburn Church and just do Dollywagon, Nethermost, and Helvellyn. As you know, no Edges for me even though I think my new hip could easily take it.
@@MattDoesMountainsQuestion on the route. If you did this again (taking out Sharp Edge) would you start with Souther or do it in the opposite direction and hit Bowscale first?
@@mjkoehler73 it probably wouldn't be such a bad idea doing it backwards because coming off at bowscale at the end isn't the best on the knees, would be nice to ascent up that way instead
How would you compare Sharp Edge to Striding Edge, done Striding couple times, not done Sharp, some of you camera action was making me woosie in armchair 😂😂
Sharp edge feels more exposed as it's a lot narrower than striding edge, it's a lot shorter in length though so you cross fairly quick, just got to be careful in what type of weather you go up in, if you've done striding edge and felt ok you should be fine, I always think it looks worse on TH-cam 😂
Awesome videos mat well done 👏✔️👍
@@seandarbyshire9966 cheers mate 👌
Great video. Brought back happy memories. I did the Bowscale horseshoe last year .
glad you enjoyed it, some really good mountains in that area and we wild camped Bowscale Tarn after the walk, one of my favorite spots 😍

@@MattDoesMountains Thanks. How steep is Souther? Didn't look too bad and the path looked mostly grassy?
Need to go back there sometime lad 👍
let us know sometime mate and we can sort something out 👌
