    Hard not to love the Spitty. The e-flite Mk XIV was my first war bird and I still fly it regularly. Excellent.

    Spitfires are my passion, any model, any size. Love them all. Very nice flying video. I especially enjoy the multiple landings and takeoffs you all do. Gives me a better feel for what the plane is really like.

    If I say cut throttle what I mean is decrease. There is only one deadstick landing on this video and even it has throttle inputs being made if you listen close. There is one deadstick in the grass that was unplanned. The most important thing is to keep the airspeed up whatever it takes. Thanks for watching.

    WOW WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MODEL AIRPLANE!!!
    So much has changed in model planes over the passing years. I still remember flying the Cox 0.49 many a years ago with a good friend. The flying kits are so much better now!
    Thank you RCAirTrainingCommand for the nice video/Review.
    Makes me want to do the model flying thing again!
    P.S. RCAirTrainingCommand please forget some of those negative useless comments that some people just have to belch out. They don't help any body and they certainly don't look any more intelligent writing that rubbish on the You-Tube.
    Thank Sir and keep flying!

      RetlawIsHere1969 I remember my first plane, it only took a half hour to start it. I only spilt 1 gallon of gas in the back seat of the car going out to the field. I remember those days. Check out Motionrc.com we have a lot of different options for some one who wants to get back in the hobby.

    Nice flying and landings... I'm noticing that this plane, as well as the wildcat and p-47 are not available anymore.... :( I hope they bring the warbirds back, especially this one. I'm liking the new P-51, and can only hope for a Zero and P-40 in 3s 2200 size, with retracts and flaps and such, like the new P-51... This was going to be my next warbird though, sad it's not available anymore.... Guess I'll have to see if the old GWS Spit will fly again.... Thanks for the videos, keep shining...

    I'll definitely take that into consideration. I used to have an airfield 1400mm P-40 which was my baby, and even with those big wheels it would always tip over in the grass on landings. Eventually the motor mount and nose area in general just got too screwed up from all that and I had to retire it, and thats exactly what I'm trying to avoid with my next plane.

    Great video, very much enjoyed all of the take offs and approaches, I have the 1200mm Dynam BF109 and landings are quite difficult for me as of yet. I haven't found the sweet spot between coming in too hot or coming in too slow risking a stall, I suppose practice makes perfect. I am going to angle my landing gear 90 degrees to the deck like you have despite in not being scale, that may help my ground handling a bit.

    Spitfires are great! There just more fun when you can taxi them around. I find my radial engine shorter nosed birds usually do better on grass. Also birds with a mid or semi mid fuse wing attachment. Lower center of gravity lessens the fulcrum effect.

  • @PilotRyanMedia
    @PilotRyanMedia  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    David, honestly I'd consider the P-47 from PZ if your liking the Spit. It has a wider landing gear stance along with an included belly skid. The Spitfire is great but is more prone to nosing over than the P-47.

    Well actually air frame includes wings, undercarriage and fuselage, unless the FAA flight test for AP. and FAR-AIM 1.1 is wrong. FAR-AIM defines airframe as: fuselage,booms,nacelles,cowlings,fairings,airfoil surfaces "WINGS" including rotors excluding propellers. Also landing gear of an aircraft and their accessories and controls. but this can't be wrong cause I got this question right on my ATP rating. I also got this right on an exam when I flew Hawkers in the RAF.

  • @davidbeard77

    read in a couple reviews by some guys saything they would leave the retracts up and belly land on grass sometimes with it. I live in the mountains and rough grass fields are about as good as it gets, very few open spaces with paved lots. could this thing take wheels up grass landings regularly? and if not could you point me to another warbird that would be better for that?

    I also have this plane haven't flown it yet getting up the courage to maiden it as need to build up my flying experience. Do you have any good tips for flying this great war bird.

      Watch out when taking off on grass tends to tip over use up elevator it helps.I cut the guns to half size on mine as they can get caught on grass & damage the wing.

  • @isable6657

    never knew you could actually just cut the throttle and come in for landings like that

    Nice Flying. I have a question. Whenever I try to turn my spitfire right, it turns left and whenever i turn left it goes right.
    Its very hard to fly that way and I really need some help.
    Please respond, Thanks

    • @PilotRyanMedia
      @PilotRyanMedia  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to reverse your servo direction. Consult your radio manual for servo reversing.

    Every pilot in the world refers to an aeroplane as an "aeroplane" or an aircraft but Ryan the "test pilot" calls them airfames that´s funny man! An airframe is just the fuselage only, put wings on it, and it becomes an "Aeroplane" :-)
