I painted mine in winter Russian lend lease colours and fitted flaps and retracts after my reviver lost signal and it piled it. I love this plane :) Its as good as new
The secondary effect of use of aileron (the first being to roll into a bank), is yaw of the aircraft, in the opposite direction to the roll (adverse yaw), by adding rudder in the same direction as the bank, you counteract this yaw, this keeps turns smoother and more efficient, and can prevent low speed stalling. It's more important in gliders than power planes, but I'm into gliding and it seems to work nicely on this model...hope that helps.
about 20% mixed in, (make sure you mix in right rudder with right aileron, left with left) - unsure if this is available on a DX6i, I'm on a Sanwa Airtronics set up mainly because I fly full house gliders whenever possible and the Sanwa setup is lush for Gliders. Happy flying
Hi Dan, Great review. Can you briefly explain the advantage of aileron/rudder mix? Does it reduce risk of slippage/tip stall in a slow turn? What was that about adverse yaw? Thanks (and I agree with your summary, this is lovely plane!) Henry.
Thanks! Nice simple review and vid - It certainly is a nice looking plane and appears to be very well behaved. Any idea how it will handle a breeze? I find that my T28 can handle almost anything I can throw at it..
you could try holding full up elevator as you bring in the power and start to taxi, once the plane is moving remember to let off full elevator to get up to flying speed pre take off...... the air flow from the prop will hit the elevator and keep the tail pushed to the ground instead of the plane tipping on to the nose on softer surfaces. Similarly with landing, be prepared to hold some up elevator as you're slowing down after touch down..... good luck!
I have the same plane, and I'm having issues with the landing gear struts on grass landings. They get bent a little out of shape no matter how smoothly I land in the park. I occasionally fly from a hard surface, but the space is a little tight.
Hey snowy511, I also have a DX6i with this Spitfire and would like to set up aileron/rudder mix as per Dan's suggestion. Did you figure out how to do it? Thanks, Henry.
I have one if these beautiful planes, but I can't get mine to take off or land on anything softer than Tarmac or paved road, I have the retracts... What am I doing wrong?
@Cpsvids pretty much the same as the T-28 I would guess, as long as you land into wind, shouldn't be a problem flying up to 20 knots or so..... cross wind landings are tricky as the amount of dihedral on this model means that any rudder adjustments you make on approach tend to induce a lot of roll, which is tricky to correct with aileron and maintain your approach attitude...... so plan on landing directly into wind if possible is my advice.
It's a pretty easy model to fly, especially if you dial down the rates on your transmitter, if you're confident with a larger Cessna, this should be a a fairly easy and logical next step......
Thanks for the reply! Yeah the large Cessna was a handful for a first plane, got a simulator (with a usb RC) since, unfortunately lacks EPO planes. Finding it a bit hard to put the bicycle wheels down on (simulated) larger wood versions of these war-birds.
Shouldnt matter that it doesnt have EPO planes, one plane is very much like another! It's your fingers and head that are being trained.... go on, get a Spitfire!
Nice flight demo mate, proabably the best demonstration of this plane i have seen soo far. thank you.
I wish all reviews were as good as this. No deafening music, just a straightforward workout in a scale mannerr. nice flying and a lovely landing. Arf
Yup this could be my next Parkzone Warbird :-) Nice flying!!
Still got mine.. upgraded motor and esc running on 4cell ..Always gets looks when flying this baby 🙂 🛩

beautiful...
perfect setting against cloudy sky...

Yes, stock parts, not in the box but available from park zone / eflight

Henry.
nice flight and landing. i get one.grtz Ray
I would imagine that the few degrees extra is to make it more stable in flight, allowing for slower flight speeds needed for park flyers.

Cheers, it's a nice model for sure
Well thank you Captain!

what were your setting for ail/rudd mix? I have a dx6i, great reveiw

How experienced do you have to be to fly this? I flew the large FMS cessna for a while, looking for a non-trainer, this too hard for a 2nd plane?

hehe I think I just might!
how much did you get it for because i dont think 100£ is that good of a price
and also does it have gear that goes up and down?
Not out of the box, they are an additional purchase from E-Flite
Are the retracts stock?
the landing gear is so short that a go pro would not fit. this plane flies very scale so any extra weight may cause it to crash....
@avja360 many thanks...
How much?
@enohr whi... he just whana play!
@keithskye bring it on!
@mkcsu27 Yep, I have the same issue....
Yep, a few degrees too much!
@xKELLEM97x £1.47 honestly, Google it
