Daddy of all road-trips in North America, conquering the Dempster Highway? The Dempster Highway is the only road in North America that passes through the Arctic Circle and travels northwards for about 860km into Tuktoyaktuk where you can touch the Arctic Ocean. The harsh gravel road offers stunning scenery, passing through vast wilderness, permafrost landscapes, and crossing several rivers and mountain ranges, including the Richardson Mountains. Both summer and winter bring their own challenges.

Are you going to run into this issue again on the way back down or are you able to get the adapter in Inuvik?
@@Luciferian56 ran into the same issue on my way down. Edited the video and did some errands while I waited to charge lol
Watch out with the tt-30, make sure it’s EV rated most won’t work due to the same ground fault you experienced with the 110v outlet.
Ilove u sandro... Keep safe💙
Sorry to hear about your father😢
I know he is looking down at you and is beyond proud. I guarantee he was with you when you made it to the Arctic ocean.
I lost my mother last February , no words.
Nice content
Sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing❤️
Your video made my heart so happy. I recently lost my dad as well. My deepest condolences on your loss.
As an old man of 55 who has less life in front of me than behind, it gives me great hope that a young man would strike out on his own to have an adventure. I see so many young, unmarried people with no real obligations who are afraid to do something like this. Your journey was a quest that you succeed in. I hope you have many more to come. Go see amazing and even ordinary things! Live life to the fullest! I know I'm just some random commenter on TH-cam and this may not mean much but I'm going to type it anyway; I'm very proud of you. Your dad would be as well.

The snowmobile are actually ridden through the whole year. The first nations will ride them over the tundra when they're out hunting or gathering berries. I was also perplexed by how they looked abandoned but I was fortunate enough to talk to a local couple when they were out gathering berries.
Oh wild! Makes sense though, thank you for sharing. Let me correct that!
As always Sandro great video and storytelling! Truly inspiring .
@@Thisisit587 thanks!
Interesting to see how abandod the arctic circle is in North America. In Scandinavia charging is not an issue inside the arctic circle even when towing a large camper trailer as I did last summer. There are CCS fast chargers at least 100km from one another.
That would have been amazing! But it does make this trip even more worth while. Do you want to swap Teslas?

Those 240V outlet , looks like an L6-50 , L14-30 type plug. You can buy an adapter later then use the NEMA adapter bundle. You like taking risk, I would bring a 240V generator if it's me. The Pole to Pole brought a generator to the N and S Pole. Quite an adventure.
Ordered! Only thing is with a generator, it kind of defeated the purpose and it’s extra space that it takes. Thanks for the tip!
At the speeds your going im pretty sure ride height doesn't have any affect. It usually starts to make a difference above 60mph.
Fair. But no advantage is too small
That 120v camp outlet probably wasn't working for the same reason it doesnt work directly with the ecoflow. Tesla evse checks for a ground and neutral bond, which is what your ground plug does. If you had plugged that ground adapter into another outlet in the same line it probably would have worked by doing the same thing
@@Fabionomaz I did give that a try but it didn’t work either sadly
Great video Sandro! How do you take the drone footage while car is moving?
It’s has active track. Most of time, it’s manual shots😬
Did you get any squeaks and rattles on the Model X after driving on gravel for an extended period?
@@bohan9957 LOL! Beluga definitely got a beating, but the air suspension really goes cushion the drive on pebble roads🤣
Incredible story.

@@Yogesh54846 thanks mate! Appreciate your help
This is awesome. Now I haven't camped with my Model Y but pro tip. if you're going to be camping or extreme camping like this then you need to buy every adapter known that is for the Tesla and have with you because you just never know.
Do you have or consider getting window black out shades? Do you camp inside the Tesla with a bed etc? If so, have you considered an inflatable tent? They make some that attach to the back of the Tesla.
@@KineticEV go camping it’s awesome. Yes, all adapters have been bought now lol. I do have Ceramic Tent, special camping mattress and use curtains to sleep. Window black out shades showcase too much I think
I live not too far from your destination in the arctic and always wondered how feasible it is to use a tesla up here. Thanks for sharing!
Oh niceee! Thanks for spending time with me

How much range do you get on a full charge now on your Model X?
@@vanlifefpv6340 530 km or 335 miles 🔋
Great video, great fun, or so. it seems. I understand why you did not take an internal combustion generator, but I would have expected you to take about 1 kW worth of solar panels, so electronics, external power banks, &c., could be simultaneously charged while your EV was charging from the grid. Did you do that and just not tell us? I was very interested in your clearing the ground fault by piping the electrons through one of your power banks. Will you tell us exactly what sort of power banks you had, including model numbers? I might have more adapters than you, but I have not driven to the Arctic Ocean. Did you use a dashboard holder for the videos while driving, or did your companion serve as a steadicam?
Thank you. I had a 100 watt panel with me but will ask more permanent solar soon! The grounding was a serious issue at Eagle Plains
Great video. Four days!?
@@josh2896 yes and 4 days charging on my way back
LOL with how expensive these cars are youd never catch me taking my Model 3 out there, let alone a Model X. Thanks for giving me inspiration, its on my bucket list to make this journey one day. Ill have to make the drive from southern Ontario. I've never seen the Ocean either, so I really do hope I'd manage this journey well and get there without hiccups. Heart touching story, I might consider taking my dad there with me (assuming whatever vehicle i take has enough space for us both).
Actually if I ever stumble on the money I plan to make this journey in a camper van. My biggest fear is breaking down on the side of the road though.
For food, did you carry it with you or did you stop at diners along the way for most of it?
@@Nabee_H do the trip, you should be ok. Just take it slow. I saw many plenty of vans on semis being returned to Whitehorse.
@@Nabee_H for food. I had about 1 weeks supply of food that i stretched out by getting a few meals at Eagle Plains. Inuvik has a pretty big grocery store but it’s a bit pricey

Hitting the undercarriage on a porthole/rock risks potential battery damage, possible shut down. I suggest you only use "very low" ride height on good paved roads.
I know, because I worked at Tesla service remanufacturing, saw the inside guts, results of many road damaged batteries.
The low height is to get optimum aerodynamic efficiency at higher speeds.
Your low speed on those gravel roads, aerodynamic of the vehicle body design was good enough.
Your first charging fault might have been an outlet without proper grounding, or inconsistent quality line voltage/amperage. Especially because you stated their power was from a generator, which sometimes is not as stable as a grid service.
Now you now know, add a few more power cable adapters to the frunk before the next eoad trip.
What tires made that expedition? Without a flat or rim damage? Nice.
Future, maybe Tesla adds a few supercharger stations with Megapack support.
Hey Clark! Thanks for this thorough response, as you are so right! The generator are a life-line in Eagle Plains, but grounding was definitely an issue.
The tires and rim set that I use is from T-Sportline - bit.ly/tsportlineeverydaysandro
