Have you got one, seen one or ordered one? Hongdian D5 Qin Dynasty Fountain Pen Green Gold, Fine Nib Piston Filling Pen, Retro Chinese Totem Engraving. Looks amazing. I have a Jinhao dragon, looks good but tooooo heavy to use, It was one of my early pieces and I had not factored in weight.

There are a few reasons why I love this channel so much.
The first of which is the comfort - I know that this is kinda weird, but ur kind of like a fountain pen.... dad? friend? Whenever I click on one of your videos I just feel calmer. I only own 1 fountain pen (TWSBI Eco) and really there's no reason for me to be watching your reviews on pens that probably won't be in my budget for the next decade, haha. You really do make your videos as comfortable as possible, so I show up anyways. I'm not sure I know of another fountain pen youtuber that puts movie clips in whenever they make a joke/reference - it's just unique and fun. Same things goes for the intro songs; seriously, it's amazing. You speak like your viewers are personal friends, in a direct yet normal, non-shouty voice. Other youtubers can be referred to as their names (ex. Doodlebud) but I would be comfortable enough to just call you Doug if I ever met you.

I appreciate your willingness to examine brands like this from the fringe of the pen world. It's easy to find dozens of reviews of Pilot or LAMY, but there is little risk in buying from these major brands. You provide an invaluable service, if only to spare the rest of us from spending money on junk pens. I liken Inquiring Minds to visiting a strange city where you know someone who can steer you to the backstreet joint that serves amazing fresh salmon and away from the one serving legendary salmonella.

I was gifted an EDC, and it's the only metal pen I like. The nib is frankly exquisite. It's definitely a keeper, and whomever wins the pens will be very happy.
I was gifted the classic chrome with gold trim. It's quite attractive. The medium nib is fantastic. It's my go-to fountain pen; rides on my crab pen holder. Writes perfectly every time. Pretty amazing actually -- better than half of the pens I own
In my eyes, one of the (many) reasons why Inkquiring Minds is my favourite channel is that your reviews feel like a show, not just a lecture.
I really enjoy the fact that watching one of your videos feels like a conversation with a fellow hobbyist and not just a standard review.
I like that you review pens that noone else reviews

I found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been watching older reviews consistently. I’m not going anywhere because of the information you provide in a fun and entertaining way. Ok, the reason why I watch your videos was to learn about pens, especially how to repair them
There's more fun in these videos than any other fountain pen TH-camrs. The old TV clips, the direct approach, and the joy of seeing someone exploring the hobby in the same ways that I am. Love the channel, and would love to have one of these gorgeous pens 😊.

I enjoy this channel because of the variety. I appreciate the mix of modern, vintage, and some more interesting models I haven’t heard of. I also enjoy the humor and the way in which you review, restore, and test the pens. Doug, you are by far one of my all time favorite TH-camrs and I always look forward to what you review or restore!

I used to write with a fountain pen in high school and at the university. I liked it very much. Next, due to my job, I had to switch to a computer keyboard. Now, when I am older, I want to revert to fountain pens and your channel is very informative on the topic. Other channels try to sell goods, but your one is very refreshing and I find it honest.
This is the channel where I have learned the most about how to navigate the dizzying world of online fountain pen sellers. I appreciate how Doug cuts through the smokescreens and exposes what comes from where, and what is reasonably priced and what isn't. These videos have given me a better understanding of what quality to expect for what price, as well as where to take risks, and where not to.
You are the best channel because of your knowledge about pens, the resurection of vintage pens and of course humor!! 😂
I haven't gotten into it (yet), but I really like the vintage pen stuff you do, particularly the resurrections. Makes me more interested in keeping an eye out for bargain pens in need of some work.

Excellent review Doug, as usual! All the pens have a very nice look to them. Inkquiring Minds is one of my go to channels for fountain pens, from new pen reviews to the restoration videos of vintage pens. Your enthusiasm and energy always keep me drawn in to your videos.
I keep coming back because of the unsponsored honest reviews and let's not forget the simply perfect insertion of movie and tv clips to add levity to the situation.

Inkquiring minds is my pen TH-cam video because of the humor you bring to your videos. Most other pen TH-camrs I now almost just grab the highlights of the review and check out during the rest. You bring both insightful knowledge and opinions as well as a humor that I really enjoy.

Many, many, many, Moons ago I originally came for the fountain pens. But I stayed for you sense of humor, comparisons of pens, going down rabbit holes, classic movie clips, and mostly because I love that you’re a cheeky bugger!! You make me laugh. And that’s rare in this world. That’s coming with love from one smart ass to another!
I have to say I like the thought of a green pocket pen. Since I do not have large hands, smaller seems more fitting out of the two pen styles. It’s got a really nice metallic green that looks sharp to the eye. Cheers

Doug, your TH-cam changeless IS my favourite fountain pen go-to channel. I like your sense of humour and irony; we Aussies live that in people. You put so much into your videos with the preparation and video clips. I only started down the fountain pen rabbit hole recently and I've been b building my knowledge through TH-cam, Instagram and Facebook groups.
Whenever I comes across some interesting information or I want more information on a fountain pen topic I come to your channel. It occurred to me the other day - and I don't know why it wasn't obvious to me sooner - that I should become a member too show my support: so I did.

Great review as always :) Inkquiring Minds is a top-tier TH-cam channel because of the humor you bring to your reviews! The occasional clips you insert to emphasize a point are very fun, and you are bluntly honest without being overly negative. I really appreciate that in reviews.
Inkquiring Minds is not only my favorite but the only TH-cam channel related to fountain pens I actually subscribe to. Your reviews are always complete and straight to the point, while maintaining good humor through the review which makes it enjoyable to watch to. Also, it was thanks to your review that I came to buy the fountain pen which has became my favorite in my collection which I now use everyday: the Jinhao x159. I actually came to buy some more expensive pens than that, but this pen is simply the best and yet so cheap. I hope you continue to introduce us great pens in this style of your own, which we all love!
The only fountain pen channel that is also a music channel. Nice review of some rebranded pens.

I like this channel for the pen manufacturing information and history of the companies & countries.
I was also saved after I ordered some pens from aliexpress and they came to me in pieces. I found an old video that gave me the tips & tricks of assembly.

Watching Inkquiring Minds I have learned a lot abour fountain pens and all the writing experience with them. This is my favourite youtube fountain pen channel. Please, keep going with these amazing reviews... If I could choose one of these Scriveiners... I would go with the metal one regular size... I really love this pen. It is on my radar for a while... I've watched your Channel for a while and appreciate your Insight and comments
First, you're one of the few Canadian channels I know of, and most importantly, your reviews are very informational and you don't pull any punches. Keep up the great work.
Either of the EDCs would fit my regular EDC pens. I have a preference, for now anyway, for pocket pens, I routinely go between 3 vintage pocket pens,, one from each, Sailor, Pilot, and Platinum.
Love your practical approach as well as the variety of pens you review. I also enjoy your pen resurrection videos!
I love the thoroughness of your reviews, and of course the sense of humor. I’ve been looking for a top tier EDC pen to have in my bag daily.

Great Video, Doug. Your channel was the first I started watching, when getting into this hobby. Since January 2023, I started with 3 pens, from my old collection and have grown to 42 . 1. Because it just confines itself to the facts, with no frivolous jokes or other distractions,
b. It is made in the good ol' US of A, with no influence from those strange folk north of the border
iii. There is no trace of sarcasm in the commentary

Why is Inkquiring Minds my favourite TH-cam fountain pen channel? Because you entertain and amuse as well as informing your audience about a wide variety of pens, including entry-level Jinhao and other affordable brands. Your video-clip 'asides' add humour to your reviews, and your guitar intros indicate that you have other interests and talents; you're not only a fountain pen guide/nerd.

Why do I like these reviews... First thing is the ironic sense of humour, a bit caustic in a way I enjoy it, sometimes even challenging for non-native English user. Second thing - no **ing up with dealers/producers, who try to sell us bad stuff or rip us off on rebranded Chinese pens. Straight and no hesitation with pointing such situations. This is quite unique, not many reviewers can or want to go the dark way of being "against" something. One thing is showing some nice gems from thousands of Chinese pens (and which nibs from other brands will fit there!), another is to warn us against wasting money on a badly designed ***.

I got into fountainpens when I wanted to replace the cheap one I broke in school and thought I could treat myself with something nice. I was looking up some specific pens and found you through the research - I was and still am amazed at the amount of details you are able to point out on every pen! Haven't come across any other youtube channel that has reviews with as much information on a pen as you do AND still always keep the video fun and interesting. That's why you (and your humor) are the best!

I really liked the EDC, might have to get one for work. Not afraid to put some time into fine tuning the pen to get a nice flow.

I have the rollerball version of the Scriveiner chrome. I got it for work travel to have a nice professional looking pen have been very pleased with it, so I'm sure that their fountain pens are equally well made. I only recently found your channel, but I'm so very glad that I did! I ordered the Asvine v126 after watching your review & just received it yesterday & inked it up with Waterman Mysterious Blue & oh my! It is love at first write! I appreciate your (sometimes brutal, yet entertaining) honestly in all of your reviews. I feel I can trust your recommendations without hesitation.

Doug is our one and on... well one of two pen video gods. Love the conciseness, the wit and honesty (no pen defect goes unreported, even if he got them for free to review) and has eye opening insights about design and function. Every time I watch this channel I am torn between owning too many pens and owning too few guitars.

Inkquiring Minds is my favorite fountain pen review channel because 1. Doug demonstrated re-animation to the corpses of classic old pens 2. the musical backgrounds, from Gordon Lightfoot covers to selections from The Four Seasons (NOT the guy group from New Jersey-- the multi-part composition by Vivaldi) 3. Doug wears an assortment of cool hats 4. Doug keeps a photo of what I imagine is his wife on the counter. Nice touch! 5. I had heart surgery yesterday and could really use some cheering up. And a new pen.
