This is the kind of devices major tech companies SHOULD be bringing out. User-replaceable parts, upgradeable, clean interface. The only thing that would make it better is it being open source.
Here is the thing, major tech companies usually try to cater for the majority of consumers while this is a super niche product. Considering how niche it is, the price is pretty hefty for someone who wants to try enter that niche as well so I don't see major tech companies making stuff like that anytime soon

GREAT specific demo of this device. I'm going to take the plunge. Seeing it in use made me realize I don't actually need to wait for the bigger A5. The sustainability and repair-ability is key for me. It's how Subarus used to be (and I drove one of those for 19 years and 500,000 miles of commuting and roadtripping. It's still rolling in my neighborhood!)
I really like the compact nature, fits in more bags! Yes Reparability is an exceptional stand out feature, hopefully we see reparability come back into "fashion" as these smaller companies start to take up sales.
Very impressive. The bit about Amazon basically preventing Kindles from being repaired is a deal breaker, and I WAS on the verge of pulling the trigger on a new one.
This is literally everything I've wanted in an e-ink device. Fantastic build quality, user repairable, hackable, customizable, simple and clean firmware. Excellent design and review. Currently using a Sony DBT-CB1 which was the closest thing I could find to a 'simple' e-paper device. Will absolutely be getting one of these in the future.
Love you being honest at the end/highlighting what's great about their products, that you wouldn't have bought it yourself because the product support is great and you don't have to chase expensive hardware upgrades for (major or minor) software changes
Man I have been waiting for the A5X2 for more than 6 months now, and then you go and do a review of the Nomad, just makes me want it even more. Can't wait and glad to see you enjoy one of the best tech products out there.
I was waiting for it as well but eventually just bought the nomad and love it. I‘ll see when the A5X2 eventually comes out, I‘ll either buy it and keep both if I‘m gonna be that decadent or sell the nomad. It is quite nice to have a smaller form factor since I can even comfortably make notes standing in a train while holding it in one hand but the bigger one will definitely feel a lot better to use regularly.
I feel like I've been waiting for this product since e-ink screens became a thing. Great run down of the product, features, and the company goals. You my friend have a new subscriber and Supernote has a new customer!
Thanks for the detailed review! I have a reMarkable 2 for over two years now, and I'm always interested in what the competition brings. The main downsides of reMarkable compared to this is: 1) No repairability (or rather very very difficult) 2) Subscription fee 3) The 'straight line' issue you spoke of. I got it without any folio, it's enough that you put it in a backpack with a laptop, that has some magnets. I hope consumers chose Nomad or products like this, that offer easy repairability so that it can be used at least a decade. I'll continue to use my reMarkable since it works well, but if anything were to happen to it, I'll have to consider this.
I loved this review. I REALLY want to buy this, mostly because your review convinced me that this was the best option for me due to reparability and software. but I "settled" for a used Remarkable 2 I got for a steal. Good condition, spare nibs, and the pen for $200
Thanks for showing off the Supernote on a channel that isn't dedicated to E-ink devices already. I'm a big fan of my A5X and have been endlessly impressed with Ratta's attitude towards their products and how they interact with their customers. I think there are a lot of people that could really find good uses for E-ink tablets who just haven't heard of them or considered them yet.
Brought the Nomad a6x2 with canvs navy blue folio and Lamy pen really good bit of step learning curve but getting there.. Bit different but love it so far have kindle and set up backup with one drive and supernote cloud. Used my ipad with canva and supernote partner app to download and figured out my own screensaver and figured out template customised still trying to figure out all the options but great 😎👊🔥🔥
I like these kinds of single purpose devices. In a sea of EVERYTHING trying to do everything and being aimless and not great at anything, it’s nice to have something do one thing well
Dang. Nowadays, a company that not only have a solution to extend the storage capacity, replace the screen, motherboard and to have a removable battery but they also give you the right screwdriver to open it? I hope this company will live forever and keep it that way... forever. Pffff. L.E.: I'm writing as I'm watching and see that they didn't stopped at what I said above, but they implemented the DIY part with the pen toooooo, and also future linux version? Pffff again and again...
What I found most impressive is how fast the response rate is. reMarkable 2 is an amazing piece of offline tech that I love writing and sketching on, but it's nowhere near as fast when selecting and dragging stuff around!
This video was so awesome that it calmed me down on waiting for the Ax52 to come out... im gonna stay still because this device is incredible. Thank you for showing all these features.
If you have an alumni or student email, you can get a little bit of money off of it. I hope eventually they support an Obsidian app and a browser that has gopher or gemini protocol support- maybe the Lagrange browser?.
I've been a supernote user for about 3 years now. They don't do discounts, they're not a huge company that can afford to do so. But they do stand behind their products, and the X2 series introduces even more repairability and sustainability practices.
@@RxTheHarmacist I mean, I definitely got a discount ($20 off) by verifying my alumni email with them when I got my Nomad a few months ago. Just look for their Student Discount Program.
I like the idea, but why not have a Kindle and an iPad (and turn off all notifications and download only what u need) ??? Can someone explain to me Also.. your vid is so WELL MADE man.. jesus.
Fair point, my Wife has her Kindle and then uses her Phone for everything else. I wanted a simple tool that can do everything I need it too, that made it annoying to google things and get distracted. So the ePaper limitations really suit my needs.
I love this company and its mission, especially their commitment to updating older devices. I've grown tired of the constant tech chase and the need to pay for the latest version. This video convinced me to make a purchase. I'm going to buy it now! :)
I've found this technology really appealing for years now, as I have problems focusing if I'm taking notes/annotating a document on a PC. It's just too easy to be lazy and over-annotate rather than really thinking about why a sentence or passage stands out to you. I'm sure everyone has had that moment of opening an old file and finding 50% of it highlighted with notes that aren't helpful at all. Handwriting forces you to commit to an annotation, thereby inclining you only to annotate things that are worth more than a "yes" or "agreed" in the margin. That said, I still do all my work on real paper and type up my notes afterwards. I just... I just can't bring myself to commit to purchasing one of these e-ink devices. There are so many things about it that feel just a little off, a little awkward, a little less than what I want. I'm sure you get used to those things and probably you don't even notice them after a while. But eventually I won't have to get used to them because eventually there's going to be a breakthrough in responsiveness or refresh rate. I've been holding out for that breakthrough for at least 10 years. It's going to come soon, I swear. I will say that this device does have a lot of pretty amazing features. The left bar's functionality is really interesting, particularly the select shortcut, and I feel my life will forever be incomplete until I have that handwriting-to-header menu. But above all else, the bracket shortcut at 11:25 is brilliant and almost enough to make me break out my wallet right now. But I won't. I'll keep waiting for that breakthrough. Or retirement. Whichever comes first.
I like the concept and even think having less distractions is great but $500 for that is wild! You can get an Ipad for that. I know it's not meant to compete with tablets but how can you not? It's literally a stripped down tablet with an e-ink screen that can't run anything but a notes app and an art app. If This was $300 all in, I think that would be something to consider.
This is for people who don’t want to write on iPad glass. Even with a matte screen protector and iPad doesn’t touch the experience of writing on an e ink tablet.
It‘s 500$ with the admittedly super expensive folio and pen. I bought mine a couple of days ago for 350$ because I just use no folio at all and have a functional pen already. I just stuff it into a compartment of a bag I have and use it as is. You‘d get an iPad with zero accessories for that price as well and we all know how much apple likes to charge extra for them. I still plan on getting a folio eventually although I think I‘ll diy one.
Also they added things like sideloading by now and they‘re actually listening to feedback. That‘s what I personally like to pay for although asking 150$ for a basic folio and pen is ridiculous to me as well. It‘s not as ridiculous though as having to pay 8$/month to access google drive like the remarkable does. It‘s not even their service and you pay monthly…

A consumer dream. But, here in Brazil the import price is strangely high, doubling the value and cutting costs x benefits. 😢
This looked very cool and was just what I was looking for. Then I saw the price for the base unit, pen and case at around €500, add 20% import tax and handling fees (thanks Brexit) and that's makes it a very lovely but very expensive note taking device. (albeit a really really cool one) Also, does it really not come with any backlighting? I couldn't see any mention of it on the website but that seems a really odd omission for something that looks like it's been expertly thought out and built?
Tbh I really hope you get some kickback from them because I was on the fence about buying it 'til I watched this. No other vid highlighted the repairability, the company's transparency and anti-consurism stuff. You really made it seem like a device worh buying, especially the crystal version
Using that for Photoshop work would be actually sick drawing part of your desing on the go, maybe outside to get some inspiration and then go home to finish it of at your desktop that is kind a nice.
I hope that Math Expressions are gonna be supported in the Future and adding Plug-In support with making their Software Open-Source to create great Programms.
I have both the super note and the remarkable 2 and although the super note does have some nice customizable features and a better price point the simplicity of the remarkable and immediate access to your documents via the app and ability to easily send them has my super note collecting dust :(
Have you tried the Supernote Companion Apps? they have them for Desktop and Phone. Plus the newer Chauvet OS versions have Google Drive and OneDrive support, so file syncing is so much easier than a couple years ago.
Being e-Ink it's like paper, the brighter the lights around you the brighter it'll look. I have bright lights in the studio, but that's just to help the cameras. It looks much like pen on paper in a normal room.
Looking at their order page, they are offering a 50% discount for A5/A6 users! I've had my A6 for a few years and it's been sitting on my shelf, unused, for quite a while. The new features of the Nomad seem pretty sweet, so I might have to avail myself of that deal.
Excellent information all around. For me, your presentations would be better if you slowed down your delivery. I had to really focus on each word you said so that I didn't miss the context of what you were saying. Thanks.
not sure what you mean be how many do the need, as the Nomad line is to replace the previous, so there will be a larger A4 size Nomad. www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/comments/1bct7xm/update_on_the_development_of_a5_x2/ They posted an update on their website saying that the great success of the smaller model (shown in this review) has placed great strain on their limited resources but they are still working on releasing the new model.
@@camshand I just saw this: "The A6X and A5X are out of production and not sold new from Ratta Supernote anymore, and since some parts necessary to continue manufacturing these are not available anymore, their successors are the A6X2 Nomad and A5X2". I thought the Nomad was just an additional A6 form factor. I'm pretty sure Supernote will not be producing an A4 size anytime soon. This is the reply I received from Supernote on Facebook when I inquired about the A4X: Supernote George Kountouris Unfortunately, we do not currently have confirmed information about the release date of A4 X.
I do love that they outline they don't want to grow into a big company and push sales, and they want to ensure all their existing customers are satisfied.
Will be interesting to see what accessories they release, as yeah a light bar with a battery would be awesome. Hopefully not too big though to make it top heavy when holding, I'm really interested in making my own though, would be an experiment for sure!
The algorithm fed me this and I'm glad it did. Currently using the ipad for grad school but always kept my eye on the field for an e-ink device. Remarkable 2 is definitely slicker but missing a lot of the bells and whistles that you're mentioning here. Awesome job going beyond just the surface level stats that most tech reviews do (but not so overwhelming that I got lost)!
Great it's helped you find what you're after! EInk devices are so vast but from everything I've seen the supernote is the most aligned with its purpose. Appreciate the feedback, it is a constant struggle balancing the tech nerd lingo haha so good to know it landed well 🤙
For such a device, the price is insane. Maybe they're trying to cover their R&D while expecting small amount of sales for such a niche product, but still. It's maybe worth half of what's they're asking for it.
Dude, the Supernote Nomad is an amazing device. I found your channel through your desk build videos and noticed you had it there. Working on my long term review as we speak. I love how much Ratta listens to customers for updates, I have been in communication with them about Atelier and they really listen to everything. Great review btw, just subbed! Also 2:43 is that a floppy disc I spotted 💾👀 right up my alley haha
This looks badass. While i don’t have the money to get it right now im definitely one of the people these devices are intended for. I am always handwriting my notes, always have. This would be perfect to carry with me all the time for ideas, in-person and online meeting notes, I can definitely see this fitting into my workflow and I’d love to make a video on it.
Everything about that is lovely and I would be ecstatic to have that in my collection, but Amazon Basic's makes a really cheap grid notebook which is just paper for a fraction of the cost. Can't wait till the day stuff like this is more accessible!
It's a fantastic distraction free device, they've done great with making the software minimal and snappy. The new roughly 10" large A5 X2 is expected before March 2024, unsure if a A4X model is to also release? Are you hoping for one larger than the A5 X2?
@@camshand That's the plan. I read Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport (great book I think you'd enjoy if you haven't already) and went out and bought a notebook. Then a notebook per project. I can be in and out of 8-10 projects at any one time so keeping track of paper notes became hard quickly. I was dead set on getting a Remarkable 2, but after doing some research, I really liked Supernote's software, especially the ability to make headings and tasks out of notes. Before I went head first into buying a new expensive piece of tech I took advantage of Prime day and got a Kindle scribe as a halfway solution to see if I'd actually use an e-ink tablet, and it turns out I do. Looking to make the upgrade now, but I do a lot of sketching and diagramming, so keen for a bigger screen. TL;DR, yup, looking for a bigger screen but really keen to get a Supernote in my hands!
I LOVE this as an alternative to remarkable. Although I like fountain pens and paper and kindof don't see the utility of drawing on an e ink tablet over a real notebook. But maybe Ill get this to replace my kindle as an e reader :)
Still WAY to expensive for me to justify making notes, but digitally. Unless these things become around 80-100 euro's i won't be buying one anytime soon.
true, I have an ipad but I can also make full digital art, record audio with my notes and sync them and read books in many formats. As much as I want to have a really good single e-ink display, good writing texture device that makes all my writing digital, this ain't it.
Ive been contemplating getting something like this a little while, and I've been carefully down selecting the one I want to get with the features I want. Ive watched countless videos of reviews of each of the products, and I've noticed one thing... And correct me if I'm wrong here: For all the reviews it shows the brilliance and how close it is to write and draw, and the paper like feel of the screen with their pen. So this is all good... But not a single review has talked about the ease of finding the information you have written down. So this has lead me to believe that these devices are not good at retrieval, so your notes end up going into a blackhole...and slowly paging through the notes will become such a chore that your notes and thoughts are better left in the void. If you take notebook, you can quickly get to the page (if you know what you're looking for) by shuffling through the papers. If you don't know what you're looking for then its slow and you probably won't find the information. So I'm assuming these are great as a sheet of paper, which is how most reviewers show the product - since it is only one sheet of paper. But it's terrible as a book of papers or multiple books of papers. If you have any of these devices and think this is not the case please let me know, as I mentioned I don't have any of these devices and have been trying to form a view from watching the reviews on youtube.
can you use it as a whiteboard for brainstorming? - I'd love to be able to scroll in each direction much like apple freeform to create larger mindmaps etc. that's the main thing holding me off from an e-ink so far.
No the note taking "app" doesn't have unlimited freedom of movement. You could technically zoom in at the beginning to maximise your artboard to write on, but it is very much finite to act like a piece of paper
The problem with this, and similar products, is that the price just makes it an expensive gimmick. If it were a more budget-friendly alternative to tablets, then yeah, it would make sense. But for the same $300 price, you can get a normal tablet with way more features, specially when there's deals. So, imo, kinda pointless.
I honestly was in the same camp originally. But after being so annoyed with my iPads distractions, wasting hours off googling things online and in all the other features I switched to the Supernote. It's not for everyone, but intentional restraint brings maximum performance to my output
That is why i am getting one of these because im going to college soon and i journal and draw and this would be really nice to have i am not sure to get this or the remarkable 2 tho
Thank you, I spent a little bit of time trying to figure out the movement as well as lighting as there was minimal space between the camera and my hand!
Great review! I'll get one once the display supports color. I like writing with a purple pen. Also a smart camera video scanner so i can flip through my previous paper notes, to import them
Eh, I wish they'd offer a Kaleido 3 version and being able to run Android apps would be nice. The main thing I'd like to see, and it's a Wacom issue, is the return of multiple buttons on the styluses. That way you can lasso, erase, etc. very easily. This was standard in the heydays of tablet PCs. Other than that, it really does look good.
Well that was the clearest and most balanced review I’ve seen so far. Thanks very much. This is probably the closest I’ve seen to what I was looking for when I first saw eink readers. OneNote integration would be fantastic, but I think this is likely to be close enough to be very useful for my work notes.
It's been a couple years since I've looked into the current market for full color eInk devices like what you're asking about, and the last time I checked, the answer was a firm "no." However, it looks like things have changed and the answer is now "kind of." At the moment, there are two devices that I am finding. One offers a bit more functionality than something like the Supernote or Remarkable tablets, and it's called the Boox Tab Ultra C Pro. The other is the Boox Note Air3. They run Android, and the Tab Ultra Pro has a built-in track pad, seems to come with a folding keyboard and a pen, so that's pretty cool. *But* neither are anywhere close to true color, or even high color, in terms of the color gamut of the display they use. The best display that I have seen on the market for color output has a color gamut of ~60k colors, which means that it should be able to display a 16-bit RGB "high color" image with minimal artifacting. I say minimal artifacting because high color can display ~65,000 different colors. For comparison, almost all computer and phone use 24-bit RGB "true color" displays, which can display over 16,000,000 colors; and internally, applications like Photoshop uses 48-bit RGB "deep color" which can encode over 200,000,000,000,000 colors. But the display of Boox Tab Ultra C Pro and Boox Note Air3 have a color gamut of only 4096 colors; so you would be relatively limited in your available palette for art. But in a few years, I fully expect to see another generation of consumer devices making use of the better high color equivalent displays, if there aren't already any about to roll out.
Only two things holding me back on this. From an artist perspective, (which is why I would want this for my sketching) that screen is too small. Sounds like a 10" model is coming soon so that would be great. But the real killer is the lack of ability to erase at the pixel level. In other words it should allow for me to erase a small fraction of a line rather than the entire line that I just laid down. I don't need an "undo" as much as I would desire a true eraser.
Ohhhh realise I never showed this, it has a normal eraser, it's on the top menu bar, just isn't a default. The Lamy EMR pen also has a dedicated button to activate the pixel based eraser, which is quite useful for sketching. Keep an eye out for that larger model, I reckon it'll be a hit with Artists.
@@camshand Perfect!!!! I reached out to them and they indeed confirmed likely a late March release for the larger screened model. And they also confirmed the eraser functionality too. This may be such a great sketchpad solution for me!!!!
Wow, this seems amazing. I've personally had a reMarkable 2 for about 2 years at this point, and I absolutely love that thing, but there are some things that I wish it could do. It seems like the Supernote just does all of those things natively. Ie, it's simply awesome. I will certainly look into getting a Supernote instead of the reMarkable 3 (or a replacement 2) in the future when my reMarkable 2 decides to become too much of a nuisance.
Kindle Scribe is wonderful, writing is awesome experience. Software is nowhere as good as Supernote. It does have backlighting which makes reading so much easier. I have Boox Mini, it is great but it can be glitchy.
Looks remarkable. But how easy to write/setup new applications? Any open SDK? It would be nice to have a cover with a transparent front and some calendar/TODO list/HASS status on wallpaper. Would it be possible to connect it to a notebook as a second display via type-c/Wi-Fi? Waterproof? Can embedded browser be used in normal way to show last opened page after restart? Normal way to edit/copy URL? Any special CSS Media Query support to optimize sites for e-ink?
looks great; just want to see different sizes (small like a smartphone, medium like the current device and large for bigger canvas); also color e-ink would be great - nothing fancy; just some basic colours for sketching stuff
Large is coming soon, should be called the A5 X2 so keep a lookout for that. As for phone sized, i've seen them be popular for reading, but given the supernote is a writing first device it may be a bit limited having a notepad size. Could be interesting though. And yeah colour would be cool but theyre very slow. Having even one colour like red drastically increases the refresh times of the eink display. Great for readers, but for drawing quite tricky. Cool thing is you can export your markup on documents as a red or blue pen when saving as PDF. So on a computer it will stand out more
I would love to use something like this for drafting. Is there any CAD capability in the drawing software, or would some type of CAD capability be possible down the line, I wonder?
I loved my supernote. But as I got older, I just couldn't see it as well anymore without a backlight, in anything except perfect lighting conditions. Which is a bummer, because now it just sits there. I understand their rationale, I just don't happen to like it, as it made me lose access to a truly fabulous device.
This is the kind of devices major tech companies SHOULD be bringing out. User-replaceable parts, upgradeable, clean interface. The only thing that would make it better is it being open source.

The main downsides of reMarkable compared to this is:
1) No repairability (or rather very very difficult)
2) Subscription fee
3) The 'straight line' issue you spoke of.
They should give you a commission, didn’t know this existed till I randomly was recommended your video and I just ordered it five seconds ago
Absolutely love this. “Drawing a line between consumption and creation” is so perfect. And huge respect to the repairability they provide.
I bought 1 of these on release. Best purchase in ages
This video was so awesome that it calmed me down on waiting for the Ax52 to come out... im gonna stay still because this device is incredible. Thank you for showing all these features.
Sweet summer child..
If my reMarkable breaks, I am looking at this next! What a way to handle a product! 10/10 on that!
Reparability, no subscriptions, and community lead feature updates is where it's at 💯
I literally have 7 notepads sitting here at my desk. I always use the smaller notepads as well. I have a feeling I could really benefit from this.
And just subscribed!
I like the idea, but why not have a Kindle and an iPad (and turn off all notifications and download only what u need) ???
Can someone explain to me
Also.. your vid is so WELL MADE man.. jesus.
Fair point, my Wife has her Kindle and then uses her Phone for everything else.
I wanted a simple tool that can do everything I need it too, that made it annoying to google things and get distracted.
So the ePaper limitations really suit my needs.
Plus Amazon pulling 1984 from users' libraries brings up the concern you don't own what you buy, just rent.
I think a better comparison is a few years of nice notepads and pens plus good OCR
This is for people who don’t want to write on iPad glass. Even with a matte screen protector and iPad doesn’t touch the experience of writing on an e ink tablet.
@@mzmel1 after going down this rabbit hole I ended up spending $60 to get some rocketbooks and a pen for my laptop
(albeit a really really cool one)
Also, does it really not come with any backlighting? I couldn't see any mention of it on the website but that seems a really odd omission for something that looks like it's been expertly thought out and built?
I have a Supernote AX2 Nomad Crystal and I love it.
Thanks for letting me know, I didn’t know that so I’ll definitely have to give that a try!
It’s a shame they are so expensive, the remarkable is $1k in Australia. I brought an iPad and 10 x premium Journals instead
Finally, a company that prioritizes customers. Never heard of this, but seriously looking into buying it now.
Wonder if Color E-ink will ever be in the cards. That would bring it over the top for me as a note taking tool.
With an A5X I'm waiting for the A4X2 possibly nearer the end of the year, as long as it has a split screen mode... great video.
the company that makes that knows what their doing
This is exactly what I've been looking for
Your Nomad screen looks so bright, is it the lighting?
Being e-Ink it's like paper, the brighter the lights around you the brighter it'll look.
I have bright lights in the studio, but that's just to help the cameras. It looks much like pen on paper in a normal room.
Looking at their order page, they are offering a 50% discount for A5/A6 users!
I've had my A6 for a few years and it's been sitting on my shelf, unused, for quite a while. The new features of the Nomad seem pretty sweet, so I might have to avail myself of that deal.
Random tip: Try a smaller pen like a Samsung one for more real-estate (and side button to erase). The ones for the tab/tablets tend to have a clip
Excellent information all around. For me, your presentations would be better if you slowed down your delivery. I had to really focus on each word you said so that I didn't miss the context of what you were saying. Thanks.
How many small form factors do they need. It seems they shelved the work on the A4 size. It's a nice product but it's more of the same.
not sure what you mean be how many do the need, as the Nomad line is to replace the previous, so there will be a larger A4 size Nomad.
www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/comments/1bct7xm/update_on_the_development_of_a5_x2/
They posted an update on their website saying that the great success of the smaller model (shown in this review) has placed great strain on their limited resources but they are still working on releasing the new model.
This is the reply I received from Supernote on Facebook when I inquired about the A4X:
Supernote
George Kountouris
Unfortunately, we do not currently have confirmed information about the release date of A4 X.
i was watching this review, and now i am convinced. fave moment was
NO MISTAK
NO MISTAK
NO MISTAK
I'm sold. This is the only ethical tech company I know of and I've been wanting a supernote for some time since my Boox died on me.
I do love that they outline they don't want to grow into a big company and push sales, and they want to ensure all their existing customers are satisfied.
@camshand I love that about them too - their belief in creating a good product that actually delights and fulfills consumer needs.
I mean WRT to the light bar and the pogo-pins, I'd have the mag-light have a bigger battery to share with the the Nomad.
Appreciate the feedback, it is a constant struggle balancing the tech nerd lingo haha so good to know it landed well 🤙
I use remarkable 2 because supernote is not available in Uk.. remarkable 2 looks more premium and works fine for organizing written notes.
This is the e-paper device i have been looking for! Brilliant! I love it!
For such a device, the price is insane. Maybe they're trying to cover their R&D while expecting small amount of sales for such a niche product, but still. It's maybe worth half of what's they're asking for it.
It's because there's 1 company that holds the patent for e ink currently, so they have a monopoly over the tech that companies like supernote use
Good catch
This looks badass. While i don’t have the money to get it right now im definitely one of the people these devices are intended for. I am always handwriting my notes, always have. This would be perfect to carry with me all the time for ideas, in-person and online meeting notes, I can definitely see this fitting into my workflow and I’d love to make a video on it.
Everything about that is lovely and I would be ecstatic to have that in my collection, but Amazon Basic's makes a really cheap grid notebook which is just paper for a fraction of the cost. Can't wait till the day stuff like this is more accessible!
I love the idea of the Supernote software, but I've been waiting for that A4X. The A5X (when it goes on sale) is very tempting.
This looks great and the 10.3” sounds like the size I’m looking for. Sadly went to the website and I couldn’t find a mention of it.
there is going to come a new a5 version in march or april afaik
I LOVE this as an alternative to remarkable. Although I like fountain pens and paper and kindof don't see the utility of drawing on an e ink tablet over a real notebook. But maybe Ill get this to replace my kindle as an e reader :)
SOLD! Will order one at the end of the month. I was between this and the remarkable. But its just a bit too expensive.
@pffboahkeineahnung dunno man, my smartphone was $200 and provides much more value than this note taking thingy, which costs $300
@@_mishi nope, 400 including the pen
Lol keep on dreaming man they will never cost little
Old Sony e-readers are still going for more than that so it will be a long wait!
Ive been contemplating getting something like this a little while, and I've been carefully down selecting the one I want to get with the features I want. Ive watched countless videos of reviews of each of the products, and I've noticed one thing... And correct me if I'm wrong here:
For all the reviews it shows the brilliance and how close it is to write and draw, and the paper like feel of the screen with their pen.
Omg the price is actually good. I thought it would be above 500 usd. Im buying it now for my GMAT exam
can you use it as a whiteboard for brainstorming?
It's not for everyone, but intentional restraint brings maximum performance to my output
they should add this to schools. less paper and less weight for kids to carry on their back
That is why i am getting one of these because im going to college soon and i journal and draw and this would be really nice to have i am not sure to get this or the remarkable 2 tho
Love the camera angle swirl at the beginning!
Thank you, I spent a little bit of time trying to figure out the movement as well as lighting as there was minimal space between the camera and my hand!
Great review! I'll get one once the display supports color. I like writing with a purple pen. Also a smart camera video scanner so i can flip through my previous paper notes, to import them
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a long time
Eh, I wish they'd offer a Kaleido 3 version and being able to run Android apps would be nice.
1:09 that pause of "oh hell yeah" expression says it all! ❤
Is there something like this but for drawing, with colors? But with all the restrictions so it's not a tablet.
you could use focus apps on tablets
It's been a couple years since I've looked into the current market for full color eInk devices like what you're asking about, and the last time I checked, the answer was a firm "no."
However, it looks like things have changed and the answer is now "kind of."
At the moment, there are two devices that I am finding.
@@garrettbates2639thanks, that’s rather comprehensive
I’ve been wanting one like this! Smaller size than the remarkable
Excellent review. I am truly amazed by this device.
This looks awesome, found myself writing more notes so i'm looking for a good e-ink notepad.
Do you know what the price of the new larger format will be? I'm really keen as I read lots of pdf journal articles and have issues with my eyes
Appreciate the last bit comparing the competition.
I would love to get one of these but I can’t seem to find where to purchase one from here in the U.K.
This is a great review. How much A5X is different than the A5X2 in features? I have access to a used A5X but don't want to miss out on new features.
Как называется игрушка, которая стоит на столе???
Thank you for such thorough detailed explanation of this device
Im going back to uni and I am seriously considering this 🥺
Wow, this seems amazing. I've personally had a reMarkable 2 for about 2 years at this point, and I absolutely love that thing, but there are some things that I wish it could do. It seems like the Supernote just does all of those things natively. Ie, it's simply awesome. I will certainly look into getting a Supernote instead of the reMarkable 3 (or a replacement 2) in the future when my reMarkable 2 decides to become too much of a nuisance.
never heard of this company! they are doing this thing right!
Kindle Scribe is wonderful, writing is awesome experience. Software is nowhere as good as Supernote. It does have backlighting which makes reading so much easier. I have Boox Mini, it is great but it can be glitchy.
16:09 Lefty mention
So on a computer it will stand out more
awesome review, awesome camera work, awesome everything
and awesome device. i need this thing in my life
How is it for drawing?
Your desk is insane,
I would love to use something like this for drafting.
