    This was a very thoughtful, very informed, and helpful review! Thank you! I now feel very secure in buying one of these as a sort of throw away journaling pen. Something that will write well and keep up but that I don’t have to baby or worry about dropping due to an expensive price tag.
    Thank you!

    A curious design indeed. At least the grey finial matches the section. One thing that amuses me is the name of the company: Wordsworth and Bläck. It reminds me of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. Marketers trying to add generic European cachet by adding umlauts. This might be overly cynical of me as apparently "bläck" is Swedish for "ink" so it's not quite as random as Häagen-Dazs.

    Didn’t know we need a wood finish duofold, now someone should start working on it. Either Moonman, Jinhao or Conklin all have experience with wood. Hopefully a wooden duragraph or m600s.
    Thanks for buying the pen so we don’t have to.

    Great review. I will steer clear of this company. Whatever wood they're using, it looks nothing like bamboo which is a grass, not a type of wood - strictly speaking - and as such has no grain. I should know because I see bamboo every day of the week when I walk my dogs. Thanks to pen friend Janice for taking one for the team.

      @@InkquiringMinds My pleasure. For comparison look up Manu Propria's collection:
      www.manupropria-pens.ch/welcome/Collection/Bamboo___Precious_Wood_Fountain_Pen_Collection.html
      Also, Sailor Susustake (煤竹 Soot-colored Bamboo), Sailor Hotei Dragon (布袋 Hotei; Budai; god of contentment, depicted as a pot-bellied monk who carries a large cloth bag on his back; NB: this is a guess on my part), Platinum Izumo, Danitrio Urushi Kindake (金竹 Golden Bamboo). As for pronunciation susu sounds like soot with the -t swallowed, take (ta- as in tarnish, -ke as in Kerry).
      And finally, Rare-Ranga from India also has their own version (with an Ebonite feed no less, if I remember correctly.) Maybe you'll be able to get one or more of these pens (on loan?) for future reviews...?

    Just a heads up for Canadians. A couple of colours in he Wordsworth and Black Erduite series are on sale on Amazon.ca.. Yesterday it was just the black and gold (so classy!) and the silver chrome on sale for $19.95. I ordered the black and gold. This morning, the silver chrome dropped down to $14.95. These are nice sets - leather case, 6 cartridges (3 black, 3 blue) and the converter. I think that I'm going to order another one in silver chrome and keep it until Christmas in case I need a gift for someone.

      Well, I finally got it and I have been using it for a few days. The Erduite models are MUCH better than the bamboo version. The pen is well-balanced posted. It is fairly dry. Waterman Serenity Blue dries in a few seconds. It isn't scratchy and flows nice across the page. I am almost certain that the converter is Jinhao. The nib, I'm not sure. It only has some sort of symbol on it, no writing. There is some flex. The nib on that bamboo one is probably a Jinhao. Everyone says that they are very wet and it looks just like the pictures on Amazon. I did get the converter, 6 cartridges and the faux leather case. The presentation is really nice. I'm really happy. Your friend should honestly return that other one. If they see your review, I'm sure that they are going to want to take care of that.

    Hi, Doug, I subscribed your channel recently, and I am so into your reviews.😍 You are such a detailed reviewer! I am going back to your previous videos and started watching all of them. Usually, I mainly bought fountain pens from the luxury pen shops and some from ebay(after watching your videos about some Chinese fountain pens), but I also got interested in Amazon sold (I guess chinese?) fountain pens. I wonder you may be able to review Dryden fountain pens since they are sold number one fountain pen now in Amazon. Will you consider reviewing?? I didn't find any valuable reviews in TH-cam so far, except for (probably) paid videos.

      Thank you so much Rachel and welcome aboard! I've seen the ads for the Dryden pens but they just seem to me to be a Chinese pen made by Jinhao, HongDian, Fuliwen or other Chinese OEM manufacturer and then branded, marketed and marked up in price like the Woodsworth & Black and many others including Monteverde. And since these come out of my own pocket, I'll pass. Sorry.

  • @JasonBarnhart
    @JasonBarnhart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was gifted one of their pens. An all stainless model. The nib was so bad it was unusable. Snagged paper and it wouldn’t feed ink to the nib. No amount of cleaning and adjusting would help. It looked kind of cool but was the worst fountain pen I ever encountered. I stopped short of opening the channel on the feed and I don’t keep a nib tuning kit on hand (a pen shouldn’t need that out of the box anyway).
    Emailed W&B to no response.
    Finally gave up, found a random German iridium nib in a box of parts. Pulled the feed out of a no name Chinese pen. Scrapped the W&B converter for a Wing Sung and Installed everything in the W&B. It writes OK now. Thought about putting in an ebonite feed but couldn’t justify it.
    The box is very nice. It did come with the six ink cartridges.
    ...and I really like my Jinhao 51A. My expectations are pretty flexible.

    • @InkquiringMinds
      @InkquiringMinds  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Nothing sophisticated but they work, no skips, no hard starts and I can drop them in a bag or coat pocket without worry of wear or scratching. I’d hesitate to give even away the W&B.

I am glad that you reviewed it, which let's me know my suspicions were right. The other thing is that the two gold bands look to be of slightly different width. Is that so or is it a optical illusion? At least bamboo is eco friendly as it grows like grass. Every time I have seen this listed somewhere I figured it was one of those pens bought by non fountain pen people as gifts for their fountain pen using friends or family who will not use it, but won't complain about the gift. Many companies operate like this as people aren't likely to complain about gifts, as that wouldn't be polite, and you don't want to ruin the gifter's joy. I find this despicable. Part I would like best is the nice box I suspect. Design isn't design, but more of an exercise of "what can you assemble from this grab bag of parts we have available at the factory." At least the nib works, but perhaps don't attach it to dog's breakfast.

    Thanks for this amazing review, but can you please do a review on the Wordsworth & black majesti? I have been meaning to buy that pen for a while but have only seen about 1 review on it, so I would love to see your opinion on it, thanks!

      The W&B pen was a loan for the review. I doubt I would spend my own money on one.

      It probably should come with a warning not for children under 3 because its got sharp places.
