- As part of a full turnkey solution, Allelys delivered and installed eight transformers across two separate projects for the Kergord Energy Substation and Viking Energy Substation on the Shetland Islands.
The first project involved transporting four transformers, all weighing 168te, using a 15 axle modular trailer from Lerwick Port to the Kergord Substation.
Just getting all your kit to such a remote location is very impressive, shifting the transformers over what looked like littlemore than sheep tracks, incredible!!!!
The contactors built access roads to the wind turbine sites up to and along the hill tops. I am told the power generated will be for export to Britain.
A miracle of planning engineering and execution. Not forgetting the excellent drone filming. Regards Crawford
An amazing project and an amazing video. Beats anything on tv.
Impressive job in such a remote location.

Really interesting, thank you for posting .
Very well done indeed, both the job and the film.
Really enjoy your videos. Thank you from Oz
A magnificent planning achievement considering everything including crew had to be shipped to Shetland. The converter is not far north of where Ill be spending a weeks holiday in a fortnight's time.
Fantastic piece of logistics.
Have seen these guys move locomotives near to me, impressive.
I’m glad I didn’t have to pay the bill 😂😂.
Brilliant video
Great Job excellent production, just a shame you put so much effort and skill into such a short film, could easily be an hour long, but as i said excellent Job 👍👍😎
Good video, why the bloody music?
Impressive
Great video how about a bit of commentary?
I think Allelys are missing a trick here.
The videos are very nice, but seem to just be the sort of thing they'd show to prospective customers.
BEST OF BEST
Is a convertor the same as a transformer substation?
Why the multiple transfers to different trailers?
They are bloody heavy.
pity about the bloody awful music whats wrong with big diesels etc.
BUT why move them in the dark? Surely the few locals wouldn't have been inconvenienced that much.
The other road is single track so not suitable for normal traffic - there aren't many roads up there
@@abzzeusMany of Shetland’s roads are excellent. That includes access roads to renewable sites. Yes there are some single track with passing places. But few of them can’t be used by HGVs.
moved in the dark to avoid drones?
@@darylcheshire1618 Why on earth would they want to avoid drones ?
@@davecooper3238 I was trying to be funny.
background music ? W T F
An aesthetic video, but it is very much fragmented and not very clear what is actually done. For a technician as I am, it's a useless video.
