The proverb Chapter 14 says it all about Wisdom. God is the WORD. He's not like us or what we think. God's a consuming fire. Only humility connects us wtih GOD. Theotokos is our greatest brdige on that matter.

There are many icons of "The New Testament Trinity" which depicts the Father as the Ancient of Days, on Mount Athos, and in many other Orthodox holy sites. This image is on the Antimins of the Jerusalem Patriarchate. There is not a single patristic commentary on Daniel 7 that interprets the Ancient of Days as being the Son. The Fathers, and Christ Himself, connect the vision of Daniel with Psalm 109, and the session of Christ to the Right Hand of the Father. Obviously Christ was not seated at the right hand of himself. The title "Ancient of Days" is one of the Divine names that applies to all three persons of the Trinity, but in Daniel 7 it can only be the Father.

Great insight, Father! With that said how do we interpret what Fr. Peter put forth here and why do so many Orthodox treat it as the default Orthodox position to interpret the Ancient of Days from Daniel 7 as the Son.
What about the Moscow Synod that declared it was the Son?

    • @fr.johnwhiteford6194
      @fr.johnwhiteford6194 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@caseycardenas1668 The reply would be to ask them to show where the Father say that the Ancient of Days in Daniel 7 was the Son. The answer is: "They don't." The Moscow Synod has not fared well historically. It is the most overridden Council in the history of the Church.

Hymns that use the title "Ancient of Days" in reference to Christ only show that He is God. These are not commentaries on Daniel 7. One hymn that does comment on Daniel 7 is found in the Octoechos, Tone 5, Midnight Office Canon to the Holy and Life Creating Trinity, Ode 4, first troparion:
"Daniel was initiated into the mystery of the threefold splendour of the one Dominion when he beheld Christ the Judge going unto the Father while the Spirit revealed the vision." HTM Pentecostarion (which includes this text from the Octoechos), p. 270
“Μυείται τής μιάς Κυριότητος, τό τριφαές ο Δανιήλ, Χριστόν κριτήν θεασάμενος, πρός τόν Πατέρα ιόντα, καί Πνεύμα τό προφαίνον τήν όρασιν.” Ωδή δ' πλ. α', ΤΟ ΜΕΣΟΝΥΚΤΙΚΟΝ

"There was never any other time, at another time, the simultaneous appearance of the Father and the Son"... I'm not sure about that. With these matters, which are beyond our understanding, it's hard to say anything with total certainty. But there is the event where Abraham had the three visitors at the trees of Memre in Gen 18. Although those were sometimes interpreted as angels due to how Gen 19 sometimes referred to them, Abraham referred to them as "LORD", and scripture says "The LORD appeared" to him. It also says that the LORD would go down to Sodom and Gomorrah (leaving Abraham), but then it said still that Abraham still stood before the LORD when they did. I believe that might have been a Theophany of the Father as well as Son and Holy Spirit.

When talking the topic of 'Paleaeos ton eimaeron'', I prefere to translating in english as the ''old of days'', I don't know why but while usng ''old'' instead of ''ancient''
makes me shiver ! Also thanks to Bishop of Morfou, the ''beast of Cyprus'' as eldress Galaktia used to say, said a story of Eldress Galaktia herseld, who so ''Someone'' in untold Glory, a ''Someone'' she couldn't imagine to understand who He was and Has sitting on an unfathomable throne and inside unfathomable glroy holding a small sphere in His hand like a little boy holds a gazzette toy sphere. And the eldress asked who is ''He'' and a voice told her: ''he is the old of days, Jesus Christ'. And the little spere He holds in His hand is the Universe, not just th earth, but the whole Cosmos''.
The vision continued, revealing something horrible about our world and how the Lordwill deal with it. But this is another story, for another time 😋

      John 1:18 (ESV)
No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
      John 5:37 (ESV)
And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen,
      John 6:46 (ESV)
not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.
      John 14:9 (ESV)
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
      1 John 4:14 (ESV)
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
St Ambrose of Milan explained it most clearly:
"Let Him [Jesus] therefore stand in your midst, that the heavens, which declare the glory of God, may be opened to you, that you may do His will, and work His works. He who sees Jesus, to him are the heavens opened as they were opened to Stephen, when he said: "Behold I see the heavens opened and Jesus standing at the right hand of God." Jesus was standing as his advocate, He was standing as though anxious, that He might help His athlete Stephen in his conflict, He was standing as though ready to crown His martyr. Let Him then be standing for you, that you may not be afraid of Him sitting; for when sitting He judges, as Daniel says: "The thrones were placed, and the books were opened, and the Ancient of Days did sit." But in the eighty-first [second] Psalm it is written: "God stood in the congregation of gods, and decideth among the gods." So then when He sits He judges, when He stands He decides, and He judges concerning the imperfect, but decides among the gods. Let Him stand for you as a defender, as a good shepherd, lest the fierce wolves assault you" (Letter 63:5-6, NPNF, vol. 10, p. 457).

I believe this is wrong and even one image this video showed of the Ancient of Days in Mount Athos (Pantokrator Monastery) with the triangular halo reads:
    "Ὁ ΑΝΑΡΧΟC ΠΑΤΗΡ"
    Which is translated to:
    "THE BEGINNINGLESS FATHER"
And The Pedalion (The Rudder, a treatise on Orthodox Church canons by Nicholas the Hagiorite, 1749-1809) says:
"ὁ άναρχος Πατήρ πρέπει να ζωγραφίζεται καθώς εφάνη εις τον προφήτην Δανιήλ ως παλαιός ημερών."
    Which is translated as:
"The Beginningless Father should be painted as he appeared to the Prophet Daniel, as the ‘Ancient of Days.‘"
This is not to attack the video I myself believe the Ancient of Days is only an energetic manifestation of the Father. By the Father through the Son and in the Spirit by the mode of the Father (Similarly to the Dove of the Holy Spirit). (correct me if I'm wrong).

Since the demons can also deceive us through visions, in Orthodoxy we are very reluctant to accept such things. The saints say that if we believe we have received a vision we should not talk about it openly but go to an experienced spiritual father to help us determine whether this was from God or the demons. Even the demons can appear as Christ and the saints.

☦️ In Orthodoxy, which is the true, never changing church of God, Jesus Christ is our Ancient of days.
"And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end." 🙏🏼

No, father. Those who believe that some of the fathers believed that the ancient of days was God of the fathers, they are wrong because they do not know the interpretation of the fathers. None of the fathers believed the ancient of days!
All the fathers are in consensus on this. They are always in consensus when it comes to doctrine. They are infallible. If the fathers can disagree on doctrine, then nothing they wrote concerning doctrine could be trusted.
It is a matter of context and correct interpretation. When those certain fathers refer to the AD as the Father they refer back to Christ when Christ said “when you see me you see the Father.” There are many demonstrations of the fathers
