- This version of Yume Nikki was uploaded to the Internet by kikiyama the 2nd of October, 2004 and could be downloaded from their vector profile, which was linked on their website. The version stood there until the 26th of November of the same year, when the download link was replaced by the newer version, 0.05.
Since then, the version apparently could not be downloaded from anywhere on the Internet, and thus was nearly impossible to find unless you had already downloaded it when it was available. All the other versions had the same fate except the latest one, 0.10. Because of this, old versions remained as a mystery in the YN community for a very long time.
Luckily, this version was included in a DVD that was sold along a 2005 Japanese magazine that collected freeware from the Internet back then. Something very similar happened with version 0.06. Some Japanese users found about it on 2015 and uploaded some footage, but refused to share the version. People looked for other copies of the magazine, but these were extremely rare, so there was no documented success at obtaining it from the western fanbase. This footage encouraged the creation of #LaInvestigaciónYN, a group formed by members of the Spanish YN community (including myself) with the goal of finding old versions such as this one.
Two years later, in 2017 we managed to locate the magazine "フリーゲームstation! vol.1" which contained ver. 0.06 and AshitaMinami, one of our members, managed to buy it. We published the version a few days later and that's why since then it is publicly available. This year, we managed to get our hands on "フリーウェア年鑑2005", the magazine that contained 0.04, and that's why we are able to upload footage about the version.

It’s amazing a patch this early was discovered! It looks so different. Makes me wonder what earlier versions are like. It’s a pity they’re still lost.
wait, in the 10:05, that place with the beds, that is now in the number door, that exact place is in the infamous Dream Diary version, we all know the devs claimed to be in contact with kikiyama to make the game, now this makes me more curious if that was really true or just the devs had the luck to have the early builds of the game
The CEO of Playism is friends with Kikiyama. That's how Playism got the rights to publish YN on Steam and create Dream Diary.

Hy.I downloaded the game for having fun for myself but i ran into problems. 1.The game didn't start
I installed a Japanese letter character set so everything good to go but boom.No luck.
2.I miss some RPG MAKER files.i installed RTP2003.Still nothing.
I merged the RTP files to the game's files and did some thing that website suggested and the game started.But everytime I open the game it showes an error.
I tried with a Win XP machine as well but no luck there.

I already pasted where it should be. I retried 3 times and no. At least the languange problem is gone. I'm still gonna try on my Win XP machine.

I cannot make this game work. I downloaded the game from TCRF so I assume it is a good version. What's worse is that I cannot even play the 0.9 or the 0.6 version of the game for the same issue

It's very weird that it doesn't recognize it if it is where it should be. Can you tell me more details, like the filename, the location of the folder, and so on?
@@GatoBot I figured it out! It asking for the Japanese file... I renamed the file that should be in System 2 folder to "システム２C" and it doesn't complain about that. Now it's aking for a different file... I found no RTD2003 that was japanese. Everybody gave the English ones. The problem is that the official website no longer provides the files( tkool.jp/support/download/rpg2003/rtp ) So can you please send me the game?
How do I install it?
