Nico for some reason: "Falling Down = Jump"
I think it’s because the 2D sprite games use a jumping animation for when Link goes down to a lower level, so he’s applying said logic to all instances of Link going down to a lower level, even though the 2.5D games like A Link Between Worlds and TriForce Heroes explicitly have falling animations.
He didn't want to play triforce heroes for long

@@haakenbailey7381 ALBW allows falling when you come out of the wall though, that's not a jump. Though you do have to jump to beat the game anyhow so I guess it doesn't matter much.
@@Bullyproof297 Well, I tried playing it recently and ah... after forcing myself through a few levels, I just can't be arsed to play it anymore. It just isn't fun. It's stupid since Four Swords Anniversary Edition and Four Swords Adventures worked just fine and were plenty fun when playing them solo, yet Triforce Heroes was just such a frustrating experience. And it's not like they had no other option with the controls and switching, they just didn't put in any effort into making the game properly playable solo.

Generally I’d say one of the major differences between jumping down and falling down something is the agency involved in it. You wouldn’t call someone willingly hopping/jumping down the stairs as falling down the stairs, and you wouldn’t generally call someone doing a high dive into water falling into the water

4:23 not that you'd get much further, but in the Deku Tree you can climb up the vines on the platform you jumped to. You'd have to jump to beat the dungeon anyway.

You can Navi dive down the well to escape the Kokiri foret, you can infinite crouch stab to get rid of npcs that are blocking off the other 2 ways out of the forest, you can stale reference manipulate the game's code to literally summon the credits. You can wrong warp to the the final confrontation with Ganon. You can even overload a level to to create warps to ganon that can trigger through doors and floors.
Dude, you don’t have to jump to activate the big intro shot cutscene in TOTK, you can just walk off and the game activates the cutscene anyway

Some of these last ones weren't jumps at all, Link just walked of a ledge in Triforce Heroes and Tears of the Kingdom.

ALBW: you don't jump out of painting mode, but there are definitely dungeons where jumping is manditory.
TFH: that's falling. Later you use the tornado rod, which is debatable but I'd argue you're being lifted.
TotK: that's falling. I think you're forced to jump to reach the recall shrine and maybe the door to the surface tho, unless maybe you can recall lock a bunch of random stuff to walk on

There sure is a lot of jumping for a series notorious for not having a jump button until Breath of the Wild... which ironically is one of two games that can be beaten without jumping.

No need to redo, as this video was bullshit. He did the same with mario? even more hilarious. it was clear that you cant beat nearly all of the zelda games as jumping is a key feature.

I'd argue against failing ALBT and TFH since you're only falling when you said you jumped, as seen by not getting nearer to the screen. Same for TotK as the jump was optional, the other choice being a fall

Yep, though I will say he isn't going to get much further after that, there are spots in the deku tree where you do have to jump in order to progress soo kinda a lose lose situation there.
He can skip the great deku tree entirely, he could have reached out to the speedrun community. There are so many ways to escape the kokiri forest eary, there's the Navi dive (even he cant call clipping through the floor a jump instead of a fall) there's the infinite crouch stab which will send mido flying.(which should work on that other kokiri guarding the bridge path) it's even possible to overload level data to the point that you create warps to ganon that trigger through doors and floors
In BOTW, to start climbing, link does a jump animation to gain some height. I believe that one needs revising or a better explanation

Idk, some of these jumps seem way more like falling instead. If you don’t have to bend your knees to drop down, doesn’t seem like it should be classified as a jump, it should be a fall instead. I demand a redo!

Actually you could have actually finished a link between worlds that isn't jumping that is you coming out of the painting and then falling
Judging by the amount of speedrun exploits there are in oot, beating the game without jumping should totally be possible. Majora's Mask? Well, I dont know but I assume yes.
im pretty sure for FS what layout you get on each run through of a level is mostly random so you could have reset a few times till jumping wasnt necessary
You should try this challenge again using speedrun strategies. See how much further you can get.
In Windwaker you wouldn’t have made it to the forest even if jump attack didn’t exist. There’s a gap in the bridge to the forest that you have to jump over LOL
Also, it’s a shame walking off a ledge is counted as a jump when there’s no animation for a jump. Games like tears of the kingdom could’ve been very creative!

If you reload the game enough times, you might be able to get lucky enough to get all 3 keys and reach Vaati without jumping.
It still might not be possible; I play Four Swords with my bro ALOT, and we still see new set pieces occasionally. There might be required jumps in Vaati's Palace regardless, but again the levels randomise.
I wonder how many would be possible if glitches are allowed. Ocarina of Time is definitely possible with the credits warp

In the great deku tree of oot you dont have to climb the ladder, there are vines that skip the part where you needed to jump

But man, I really absolutely didn't realize there were that many mandatory jumps in this game. Even though I honestly wouldn't count "jumping out of the bed". Like, we could just say he was simply "stepping out of it". At least in ALTTP, I wonder if it would've been jumpless that way.
I think you can make it farther in Triforce Heroes if you have two friends to do all the jumping.

I love how he gives us the benefit of the doubt that we would think the parry in wind waker isn't a jump but the clear falling animations in lbw tfh and totk are undisputable jumps. Come on man. There's clearly a different between the intentional action of leaping and just walking off a ledge

When you were in totk it says jump but you don't actually jump because it would activate a cutscene so it wouldn't count right also im disappointed you didn't try any exploits within these games you just played normally for example in oot you could have done the sword clip to get out and progress

well jumping and falling are 2 very different things. are you jumping if someone kicks the chair you are standing on away and you fall on the ground, didn't thought so and with that is totk probably doable if you just walk over the cliff instead of jumping from the island
In phantom hourglass you can actually roll across these gaps instead of jumping

You didn't have to jump in totk, if you climb on top of the small island there's a wing at the top so you can glide down

Well I think some of those jumps were falls so I believe that ALBW and TotK are both fair game if you just fall not jump. 😀

U ended oot prematurely, there’s climbable vines after the jumps from the bottom, idk how much further u can make it especially since u need to jump into the spider web to break it

I watched a 16 minute video about a question I knew the answer to.
Um... ocarina of time can get a bit further with the vines you missed... and I'm certain that there are other exploits that might be useful to potentially get further than normal.

There are a few instances in this video that do not align with the definition of jumping. There must be a rise, an upward trajectory, or in the case of video games, your Y position must increase. Walking off a footing does not cause any of these to occur that are even related to the word "jump."
In Mario challenges you usually see how few coins or whatever. Should redo lttp without the bed thing. Shouldn't count or be as few as possible.

Tri Force Heroes is awful... started it up once, played for about an hour, and never touched it again. I was expecting the single player to work as well as Four Swords Adventures, but it's not even close.
