Oh, this reminds me, in The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse episode "Once Upon a Apple", which is the second episode in Paul Rudish's Mickey Mouse cartoons to parody Snow White since "Wish Upon a Coin", when Mickey Mouse literally surpasses Snow White as "the fairest one of all" due to Mickey's cheery, optimistic and kind-hearted attitude (traits which are co-incidentally shared with Disney's OG Snow White), Snow White herself doesn't mind that Mickey surpassed her as "the fairest one of all"; instead, it's (predictably) The Evil Queen (in her Witch form) who clearly had an effing meltdown over this to the point of being obsessed over killing off Mickey (and failing miserably in a comical fashion).
That episode is so funny - I highly recommend 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I believe this movie should have been an Evil Queen origin story. Rachel would have made a great young Queen, and show how her heart became so dark that she became jealous of a 14 year old.

In the OG, the dwarves were working hard. So snow white decided to help out and earn her keep by cleaning up and making them a nice meal.
That leaked scene is insane, she got lost in the scary woods, found shelter, found out it was already occupied and thankfully didn't get kicked out and her gratitude is girl bossing them into cleaning the place to make it more palatable for her?
On the flip side the Dwarves are working 9-5 in the mines everyday and then they come home to _that._ She would have got kicked out 10 /10 times.

The ego on Rachel is very apparent. It’s one thing to want to be your own kind of character, but every change she wants to make basically means she turning her into a different character entirely to suit her own beliefs. She clearly wants to be seen as better than Gadot, but fails to be even likeable a majority of time.
Rachel is horribly miscast as snow white (and not because of what she looks like). As you say, her personality is polar opposite to Snow White's and she just seems unable to tone it down and pull off a completely different character on or (especially) off the screen. As much as I never watched the hunger games she was in (no interest especially after knowing Rachel was in it because she is so unlikeable), from the shorts, you could see that maybe she could pull off whatever her name's was character in that because having someone arrogant, manipulative, vendictive and using her looks to get attention might fly in that kind of situation. Casting her here, set her up to fail. She was just too full of herself to realise it.

Turning Snow White into a girlboss completely misses the point of the character.
Here's the thing about girlbosses (and bosses in general) - in the real world very few people LIKE their bosses, there's being a leader (who leads by example), and then there's being a boss (who bosses you around). There is a reason that "bossy" is a negative character trait, and portraying Snow White as a girlboss instantly makes her unlikable.
"Fairest of them all" is not a trait I would attribute to "Snow Spite" since she bosses the dwarves around and does nothing to actually help them out if the leaked scene is anything to go by. The original Snow White may have delegated chores and taught the Dwarves how to look after themselves (like teaching them manners and how to wash themselves), but she still had the humility and appreciation to do her part keeping the cottage clean. It's her way of both uplifting their quality of life and showing she's not too good to get her hands dirty.
Which is a very admirable personality for a girl who is, what? Fourteen? Snow White is the Fairest of them all not because she is beautiful, but because she is kind, considerate and caring. I don't see why these should be considered "outdated" traits for a female lead to have. And what's wrong with her having a romantic subplot for the prince? In what way does that degrade Snow White's character is make her seem lesser? Why are romance and love seen as outdated?

@@rsg5314 Yeah, ultimately the entire point of the OG Snow White was that "Beauty is only skin-deep" and that was the Evil Queen's fatal flaw. She couldn't see past appearances and believed being the "fairest in the land" (which to her meant being the most beautiful) was all that mattered. Showing her own vanity and shallow nature.
The symbolism of her witch disguise is that the uglyness inside the Evil Queen's heart was now matched by her outward appearance. In her obsession with killing Snow White because she felt threatened by her external beauty she became an ugly old crone, inside and out.
But there is nothing "Fair" about this "Snow Spite" because she feels too important and privileged to do her part, to both teach the Dwarves to be better through instruction and by example. Because 2024 Hollywood thinks women behaving in a traditionally feminine manner is sexist.
Also if she was a girlboss, do it correctly. I'd really like to see a Merida-like Snow White. But this snow while just screams "I'm not like other girls", while still being a pick me bully
@@hackidreemurr That's why I appreciate Judy Hopps as a Disney heroine because while she is clever, capable and optimistic, she's more defined by her compassion for others, a desire to make the world better, and to not see others through eyes of prejudice.
She's truly an altruistic person who is willing to put in the work to make the better world she wants be a reality, and she's humble enough to accept when she's wrong.

You know what's funny about Rachel? I know people are saying she's not pretty enough for Snow White, but not she's not even pretty enough to be the evil queen either due to her personality. Yes the queen is evil, but she has class. Rachel is way too much of a mean girl to play either role.

This was actually the rejected original concept of Disney's Aladdin in a nutshell before this was changed to what we see in the final film, where Jasmine is the obnoxious bratty princess whom Aladdin rejects in favor of the graceful peasant girl Abbi - and this concept was dropped in favor of making Jasmine likable in the final film 😅😅
And believe it or not, they took this rejected idea for the Aladdin TV series episode "SandSwitch" and swapped it around where thanks to Sadira's dark magic, the entire timeline of the Aladdin movie is altered with Jasmine as the graceful peasant girl and Sadira as the obnoxious bratty princess, and it even ends with Al dumping Princess Sadira for peasant Jasmine, which is what breaks the entire timeline-altering spell 😁😁

The usual thing with these woke lefties is that they keep inventing the wheel when one is already invented. They are "updating" the story of Snow White to make her "boss babe" yet we already had this version with Kristen Stewart. It was literally about that, where Snow White is fighter.
Another good example is when they were making that last Tomb Raider movie and one of the production guys goes "Oh we now make Lara more independent and strong female compared to old movies". Bitch, have you actually seen those Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies? Clearly not. There's a reason why most still fondly remember those Angelia movies while no one even remembers they made TR movie with Alicia Vikander, because it was such generic "female action lead #35"

A lot of people forget the purpose of Snow White. It's to show that this privileged girl, born into a life of luxury is not only able to rule as a queen but also encourage her subjects to support her. the dwarfs are a community who have actively seperated themselves from the rest of society. but by showing them that she is willing to support, help and improve their lives by showing love and compassion they are willing to do everything to defend her. That's why the dwarfs taking up arms and hunting down the evil queen is symbolic of a community overthrowing an unjust ruler. Snow White shows she is humble by cleaning for the dwarfs who provide her with a roof over her head while also encouraging to better themselves by washing their hands before eating, that they gladly do. Princess Diana was a greatly loved woman because she came to the level of the people who's lives she touched. and people who didnt even care about the monarchy were supporters of her. She was 'THE PEOPLE'S PRINCESS' because she'd walk through fields of landmines and held hands with AIDS patients. So much effort is being made to paint Snow White as a modern 'queen' that it is overlooked that she's an actual princess that needs to prove that she's humble and compassionate and not above sweeping a floor.

In this case, the heroine is the one you can tolerate and have an enjoyable conversation with. If you talk to one and are left groaning in frustration over their ego, THAT'S the villain. Just enjoy the good one's "evil laughter," its a delightful personality quirk of theirs. :)

I don't understand Hollyweird's attempt to erase romance in movies in recent times. Being/falling in love is one of the most euphoric feelings people experience and it's the reason why it's the most used topic in all of media, it's relatable. Another reason why everything just feels so miserable nowadays.
And if there is a romance, it ends tragically.
Narcissists, feminists, lesbians, assholes and similar pieces of shit will never ever experience love and cannot write about anything else than their despicable selves, oozing the endless bitterness and hate towards anyone happy into their self-grandizing "stories". Hope that helps.

And everyone seems to forget that Snow White kissed the Prince first, albeit indirectly. During 'One Song' at the movie's beginning, Snow White kisses a dove, sends it flying down, and the dove transfers the kiss to the Prince. Looks like a green light to me.

I watch a documentary about the making of the original snow white and they say that the prince was supposed to have a big part in the movie but back then male humans characters were hard to animate and that's why he only shows up in the beginning and end.

When I was watching the Gal Gadot clips, I realized a key feature missing from Rachel Zegler which makes her so unlikeable that Gal Gadot has in spades:
Grace.
Not just in the way she moves, but in how she behaves. Gal Gadot is careful and considerate when dealing with people and in how she uses her social media platforms. She is willing to put aside her own ego.
This is something that Snow White also possesses in that no matter how awful things are, she doesn't lash out at others or try to hold whatever power she can possibly scrape together over others. In the opening scene of the movie (I refuse to acknowledge the 2025 production as being a remake of it), Snow White is a princess in RAGS, scrubbing the floors like a servant. (Which makes me wonder if the king is dead or straight-up bewitched because of what his second wife is doing to his DAUGHTER.) As far as we know, her title hasn't been revoked so she still has some level of political power even if it isn't that much yet she goes about her assigned tasks without shirking. Then when she's rescued by the dwarves and they KNOW she's the princess, she doesn't order them about; she makes a deal with them to take care of their home and prepare their meals in exchange for being allowed to stay. She is making the best of a bad situation, and her kindness endears her to the dwarves so she isn't simply a servant in their home. The prince may have fallen in love at first sight from her looks, but the quiet strength of her grace and kindness would have made her EVEN MORE attractive as possibly his queen who would serve their subjects with love and respect. THAT is what makes Snow White the Fairest in the Land even though the Evil Queen is arguably just as physically beautiful if not more so.
Rachel Zegler and others like her do not understand the movie. They have the same shallow interpretation of "fairest" that the Evil Queen has where it's all about physical appearance. Her word vomit about how this new character who is Snow White in name only is trying to become a good leader is nonsense. Snow White's grace and kindness make her a good leader not through being able to charge into battle but by fostering a warm and loving environment for people to thrive in.
Who the hell was that awful woman who refuses to anything for her husband? I have had better relationships with roommates. That's not a marriage and if her husband has any self worth at all he needs to to just leave. He was just suckered into being a sperm donor. Men really need to start sueing for that.

I'm almost certain that the "7 Magical creatures" were originally in the cottage scene but were digital scrubbed over with mocap dwarves now. The picture of Rachel sitting with the dwarves standing on boxes around her is clearly used to cover up that the original "magical creatures" were taller. Plus her dance number shows her eyeline looking at someone who's no longer there and replaced with a digital dwarf who's much lower than where she's looking as she's dancing around the cottage. She's awkwardly dancing around the dwarves because the original character she was dancing with is no longer there.
This disaster is DOA, and honestly I'm surprised it's still getting a theatrical release. Although theres still a chance it'll get farted out to Disney plus like other stinkers like Pinocchio, Hocus Pocus 2, Peter Pan, and Artimis Fowl.

Watching Gal Gadot do these interviews, I noticed something. If you watch her talk, she keeps a smile on the corner of her lips at almost all times. It makes everything she says seem more pleasant and lively even when she's talking quietly. I don't know if someone coached her to do that or if she just naturally smiles a lot, but it makes her seem way more likable than Zegler. Which I guess isn't a feat considering a surprise lobotomy in a dirty bathroom in Mexico would be more likable than Zegler, but it's something I noticed.

That the housework may not involve the carpentry/electrical wiring if she's more of a handyman than you. Thing is her description makes it sound more like he does everything while she doesn't even contribute to the bills. His job is to provide for the family and clean and do the groceries and cook.

Could be that Gabot is objectively more attractive than Zeglar. On top of all the nasty comments Zeglar has made making it clear she has not only doesn’t understand the original but has distain for it. She’s cemented herself in the eyes of the audience as a nasty piece of work so her performance is going to come off as fake no matter what. Not to mention Zeglar looking nothing like the character is supposed to be portraying. The White in Snow White isn’t just there as a filler word.
