The original plot had three scenes with the Prince. He overheard SW singing and joined in. Then he didn't appear after that until he found out she was in trouble. That is hardly "stalking"!
A lot of the old movies have the prince kissing the sleeping princess to save them trope. It's not a great trope to the honest. It's not stalkery by the old faerie tales, but by modern standards it's pretty lazy and not a great look. But I mean all they have to do is remove that one part and replace it with something else if they're worried about it. My pet theory is that Disney thrives on fan baiting but switching stuff up they know will upset some fans for attention and so if the movie bombs they can point at them and blame the ex-fans rather than admitting they're making lazy, uninspired moves that need the name of the originals for anyone to consider even seeing them.
The Prince was supposed to have more but due to animating difficulties they got cut. Prince Florian is basically Green Arrow and doesn't speak horse so ah...he took the long way around.

Think of every other Disney Princess movie and the only other one involving a kiss solving a problem was The Little Mermaid. The Princess & the Frog actually made a kiss turn Tiana into a frog as a catalyst.

What pisses me off is that he sees the problem he has caused for his people and he stubbornly stays quiet while drinking the finest wine imported from Kingslanding.
I've lost a lot of respect for him. I mean he's a great actor, but as a person he just seem to come across as bitter and self important a lot of the time. I mean apart from speaking for everyone when he said they shouldn't cast little people as dwarves in snow white (I mean why does he get the sole vote on that! It's not even an IMO thing, he just comes out and goes "hey don't do it" and the studios jump to his command it seems) he's also gone on the record saying that people only hated the last season of GOT because "the pretty white people didn't get their happily ever after." I mean either he's deliberately trolling or he's bitter and deluded. (And it seems to be the latter.)

I came to the comment section just to see if anyone mentioned that. He truly was a goat. He understood the importance of writing compelling stories and characters and not just the important message he wanted to tell you, there's a reason why every time there is a marathon people watch it.
I used to be a fan of Dinklage all the way until he quite literally slammed the door in the face of his people. One of the rare few times where dwarf actors are mandatory and this dude ruins it. That said, he isn't the only problem. It's absolutely crazy that Hollywood accepted just *one* person's opinion as gospel for every single person with Dwarfism. Also crazy how those with Dwarfism called it out and got ignored. On that point alone I will refuse to watch this movie.
Supposedly Disney consulted this dwarfism community organization forgot the name and knowing how organizations are now of course they will say it’s an issue having them play them in a movie.
Hollywood does that for everything. They look at the very vocal minority and then they make their decision based off of that and not the majority.

I used to read the Snow white story from a gigantic old book which is older than my parents. In the story, it is mentioned that Snow white's hair is so black, her lips are so red, and her skin is so white. I was enchanted by how the book portray her beauty. I also have black hair and fair skin, so Snow White became my favorite princess. As a child, I carry that moldy book in my arms and watch Disney's Snow White cus I love her so much. But now, this Snow White? nah She is not my Snow White from Germany.
Not read it for years but didn't her mum name her snow White because she pricked her finger and her blood splashed on the snow while pregnant. Hence the name...

Is there a huntsman. Adaptations should add not take away. I liked Aladdin, but they pushed Jasmin to the front and shoved Aladdin to the back. Instead of equal importance. The side by sides speak for themselves. I teach and I was teaching the word old and new. My students agreed old lion King had more colour and the characters showed feeling. Aladdin the chase scene was more fun in old, each scene telling a story not just a chase scene. These kids are 10 and English is their second language. They can see fault in new movies.

While they were at work, she wasn't going to be lounging around the house all day. She was going to clean the house and help make sure they had something to eat. She repaid kindness with Kindness.. Which is why the Dwarves loved her so much even Grumpy.
That makes Snowwhite a certified golddigger when you think about it. She did say she wanted to be the success she can be so looks like she took the quick route. Probably has a tramp stamp too.

The dwarves in Snow White are mythical, like those in Lord of the Rings and Nordic mythology.

technically speaking, the dwarves in the original fairy tale are mythical creatures, derived from gnomes and such of german/nordic folk lore. The issue here is that little people actors with some prosthetics for the face would be perfectly fine dwarves for this movie but they decided to use CGI instead, because nothing says "live action adaptation" like having most characters pure CGI
There is a huge difference between being a Little Person having dwarfism and the mythical creature Dwarf. The mythical Dwarfs have 1000 years old history in germanic stories. They live by mining and have nothing at all to do with humans. Like Tolkiens Dwarfs. Different species.
Don't let anyone make you forget that Disney made the movie "Wish" canon as the starting point of an apparently shared disney multiverse, and the king was made into the magic mirror. That "happy, positive" movie made every other disney villain.

You know, for a simple fairy tale-the original Snow White still holds up. It's a solid piece of story telling. The relationship between Snow and the dwarves has chemistry, the animation is lovely, the Queen is INFAMOUS for a reason. She is iconic. Why not just re-release the original? Make Hollywoods second favorite baby, *The Extended Version*
There were some deleted scenes expanding on Snows time with the dwarves. You can use *The Extended Version* to explore the dwarves more, or the prince more, or the abuse Snow suffered as a servant. I just...Disney is creatively bankrupt and it's not only depressing, it's irritating.
@@kyleecook6671 there's even some deleted scenes of Prince Florian that made it into the comic...his escape from Queen Grimhilde's dungeon. That said for Jonathan they actually are doing that...using deleted scenes from 1937 (because it was too hard to animate a dude) to give him more to do as his original personality is actually what they are saying...a Robin Hood type, but since he actually had the crown...it makes him closer to DC's Green Arrow...and both's visual models were after actor Errol Flynn in that era.
Even the Chris Hemsworth Huntsman movie looks better than this shit.

As someone who has done acid in the past, if I had a trip like this, I'd never touch aspirin again. Her dress looks like the cheap knock off you get from a Halloween store for your 5 year old. That's 120% fine if you're a five year old little girl. It's not fine when it's a multi-million dollar budget movie. I won't be taking my nieces and nephews to see this. I'm not trying to scar them for life, thank you very much.
I don't think these remakes work well for boys because everyone is pretty much how useless and/or evil every man is while girlboss is yass queening slaaay the shit out of everything with worse cgi than The Rock in The Mummy Returns. I liked the hand drawn classics for sure as a kiddywink.

As someone who works in this industry, I can give you a very easy and straight answer; the answer is as simple as it is predictable: Money. Believe it or not, live-action with CGI is significantly cheaper to make these days than 2D animation, even when the movie is 90% CGI like you see here in the Snow White remake.

this level of CGI is still more expensive than small-time (pun intended) actors with prosthetics.
How is 2D more expensive? A genuine question here because some people say that The Boy and the Heron cost 50 million dollars to make. We know that many animators are underpaid. I dunno if it's the same for Studio Ghibli, I sincerely hope not but let's take that 50 million as the worst case scenario. So in the unideal case scenario you need 50 million dollars for a stunning looking film. Snow White live action apparently cost 200 million dollars to make. They could've used that 200 million to make a 2d film while paying their animators a good sum of money.
I get that the cost of living is different for different countries too but outsourcing is a thing. I don't want American animators to lose potential jobs of course, just saying that for money hungry companies like Disney, it's an option.
Well, I guess they pay the actors a lot of money. Just hire voice actors, it would lessen the cost of the actors significantly and then the money they save from that can go to animation.

Most of their 2D animations are rotoscoped, that is to say, they film real actors doing the acting first, then 2D animators trace the footage of the real actors to turn it into 2D animations. This is a painstakingly long and slow process, as each and every single frame has to be traced and coloured individually. If the 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was made today, using the same style and same methods, paying the animators fair wages, it would probably cost somewhere between $150 million and $200 million, and that isn't taking the marketing into account, if you add the marketing cost you'd easily end with a $300 million dollar budget total (yes, marketing is that expensive).
As for Japanese anime: sadly Japanese animators are still criminally underpaid, but they also use a lot of shortcuts to make their production faster and cheaper; their style and methods aren't anything like what Disney used for the 1937 Snow White. If Disney made Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a Japanese anime, then yeah, it could probably be made for $50 million, maybe even less.

I always assumed that when they say that 2d is expensive they're already talking about how it's done now; which is mostly digital. I never could wrap my head around the idea that animation was cheaper then because... Paints are expensive and the cost for papers will stack up, not to mention the cellophane they draw these things on. Now you just buy a PC, a drawing tablet and get a painting software. You even have the power of the undo button on your side!
Going off of just facial expression of what I've seen of Rachel Zegler in this movie she seems to make a better evil queen. Like she doesn't have expressions that seem genuine, but more. I'm plotting your demise in secret, but so long as you serve me you get to live.
I agree. She doesn't give off the behavior of someone who has been through neglect and abuse and has just gotten out of it. She looks more like a rebellious teenager who ran away from home because her stepmom scolded her for forgetting to do her chores. Even her movements are less graceful than expected. Not like what you'd see of someone who was raised around aristocracy as a child.

We did a black Cinderella back in the day starring Brandy. Nobody complained as it was not politicized, no hammering of propaganda and virtue signaling. Those who liked it watched it. Those who did not watch it carried on peacefully and were not labeled ists and phobes. Good times

All of this just reminds me of the show Once Upon a Time and how much more it did to honor those fairytail characters. And Snow White was a badass in that series, but she still felt like the princess from the story
@@frenchbloo exactly!! Once upon a time did a FANTASTIC job making all the characters dynamic and drastically different while still having the essence and core of their characters shine through. It was so epic and lovely, one of my fave shows ever! So it’s definitely possible to show a new type of twist to the original but this just looks like it lost the plot entirely

All the decisions of the movie aside, the fact they even made a "Live Action" adaptation alone is a spit in the face of the Original Animated one and all involved with it.
That was the movie that broke records and launched Disney to becoming the colossal juggernaut it is now.
The biggest casualty of this movie's creation is to Miss Adriana Caselotti. The voice actress of Snow White.
That was her only voice role and Disney put it in a contract to be her ONLY acting role, PERIOD.
Not to be hired ANYWHERE else, Live OR Voice, to keep the magic exclusive.
This movie literally tarnished her one, only and powerful legacy.
This movie is proof that the Disney company no longer cares about their roots and are willing to bastardize/industrialize the very field they started with, JUST to stay relevant at posh dinner parties.

Hollywood's egomania is a huge issue and the entertainment industry will crumble because of it. Many just like her try to prove they're above their predecessor, to "fix" something that their world veiw would align and forsake the older fanbase in favor of an updated modern audience. So far, the only good thing I heard of this movie was that Rachel Zegler's comments and interviews regarding the movie had costed her the role of Snow White, which resulted the casting going to someone who appreciates the source material more. At least, that's the last I heard of this.

I saw the trailer and it's was wonderful, the CGI is uncanny, Snow White doesn't look fair and gentle and the dwarf casting is non existent, i'll look forward to the reviews.

I'm sure the 'fairest of them all' was not supposed to be a physical beauty pagent originally. Snow white has such inner beauty, despite trial and trauma. it transcends the physical. Yeah, she's girl next door hot, but physical beauty is subjective. Some princes will like cougars. Either that, or the queen really values a mirrors personal opinion...who won't marry her anyway.
Still. I'm pretty sure Snow White will not be portrayed with unquenchable inner beauty in this version.
The twilight zone did have main characters that were black. One comes to mind is a comedian who wished to be the funniest man alive, at the end was tragic . The other was a man who challenge another character to philosophical debates.

One aspect of modern Disney I don't get is that they think girls aren't interested in love stories anymore and would rather have stories about power. Disney seems to think girls evolved beyond normal human nature, but the continued success of boy bands (mostly k-pop these days) tells me that girls do in fact still like the idea of finding a nice boy to fall in love with.

If you want to watch a good snow white movie you should see "Mirror Mirror" not to mention that movie actually cast actors with dwarfism to play the dwarves.
Even mirror mirror, which isn’t even from Disney and is just a playoff of the Snow White tale, actually hired dwarves to play dwarves in the movie and those guys were one of the best parts of it. To say hiring a dwarf is offensive is so freaking backwards to the whole point they try to make is crazy. Also, just a sidenote, the Prince wasn’t stalking her, He heard a beautiful voice, went to check it out, scared the crap out of her, got to know her a little Then disappeared for the rest of the movie till he had to kiss her. This movie is so simple. I’m not even sure how they’re gonna re-create it.
If the queen had any judgement or reasoning ability at all, this should have been "Snow White and the Quest for a Magic Mirror Repair Shop."
Where's Brett Cooper when you need her? Even the Lily Collins version stared actual real life dwarves, and while it's not my favourite version, the production and costumes look so much better. I'll be surprised if anyone even bothers with this one.

Yes! Brett Cooper has her own version coming out at some point. But it's called Snow White and the evil queen. I'm still waiting on news about it because I love the way it looks! They definitely leaned in on the fairytale feel.

I would think that looking up and watching the best 10 episodes of the original Star Trek series from the '60s would be the best way to try it. There were really high quality sci-fi writers on the show, there's a reason it only went a few seasons but it had such a cultural impact all over the world that it's lasted for so long.
My favorite is Errand of Mercy and the idea an episode like that could be "outdated" to people makes me think people need their eyes checked.
The Original Series still holds up better than any of some of the new stuff (Picard S1, St:Discovery, etc).
I had only ever watched clips however watching the Original Series (properly) a few years back with my mother, I was surprised the Science Fiction writing in those shows are STILL thought provoking. Don’t let its “age” put you off! Still worth diving into! The 3rd season had budget cuts but still watchable.

The story goes like this: this snow white is actually the Evil Queen who stole Snow white's identity, that explains the fake dwarfs cause the Queen already killed them. The current Evil Queen is the real snow white cursed by the real Evil Queen because she realized that Snow white cannot die as she is protected by plot armor, so the evil Queen just cursed Snow white to become the new evil Queen.
This is much better than this movie.

3:11 that clip you show off whistle while you work. Says it all about this movie Snow white was the fairest of them and the queen because of her vanity wanted to kill snow white. As such Snow White becomes a target of assassination, has to go into witness protection. Fleeing from her home and broke into what she thought was an abandoned building, she finds out that people are still living their and for her safety she has to rely on the kindness of strangers. What made her truly the fairest of them all was the fact that she did not demand, she did not decree, or expect the dwarves to protect her. Instead she offered compensation as she had no money to stay in home so she offers to clean it for them. So while they are away they can come back to a nice clean home and clean clothes. She's a princess but she's not afraid to get her hands dirty to do what needs to repay the kindness of the dwarves.
In that clip you showed she's making them clean their own home, I'm guessing to show that she's a great leader and the dwarves love working for her. Yet she's basically breaking into a home, demanding hospitality from strangers, and rather than work to repay their kindness, She's having them do more stuff for her to make things better for her than the dwarves. It's like having a friend borrow your truck, and instead of offering to clean it for you or fill it up. They have you clean it and fill it up for them, because to them its the right thing for YOU to do.
*After* they've already done a full day's work at the mines...

I Looked at the hiho song and they get off work at 5 and before they get to their house it's already dusk. So it might be a 3-4 hour walk to and back from the mine. So after walking 3 hours to work, working almost 9 hours, and walking another 3 hours back to the house. They get to clean up the place for someone to lounge around. Plus mining requires a lot of maintenance, so they should know how to clean.

No, go ahead and watch Star Trek the original from the 60"s, The acting is a bit over the top, but the stories are EPIC. and for the time they were ground breaking. It was a massive social commentary in fact one show was banned in the south, that's how hard it went. It's something everyone should experience.

The big thing with Star Trek and another good example is actually fresh prince from the 90’s. Moral and social question were tackled. But people were allowed and actually encouraged to figure out the answers to those dilemmas for themselves rather than having ideological answers pushed down their throats.
I said as much in my own reply to this video but her husband committed the most cardinal nerd sin I swear. Upsell TOS as much as you can, people are going to be so unfairly judgmental before giving it a chance. I don't blame her because she hasn't seen enough of either but this show and classic Who are just a delight and privilege to watch.

A few years ago, I discovered I actually enjoy the cringe of 70s sci fi. Shows like Running Man (yes, it was a tv show in addition to a movie), and the Canadian show Starlost are prime examples. Production value... Garbage. Special effects... Laughable. Acting... Yes? But somehow, I really enjoy the stories, which are mostly, "Hey, I've got their weird idea, lets build a simple story around it." And none of the beating the audience over the head with a social message. So I tried to buy up a bunch of these shows on DVD before that format completely disappears.

I find it ironic that white characters can be replaced based on the argument that "their origins cannot be definitively proven." Nigerian movies are INSANE. My mom used to get her hair braided at a Nigerian place and they would play the movies and sell them. We bought a few and plot wise, they’re some of the most entertaining and actually gripping stories.

Listen, the only time they want to change a character’s ethnicity or race is when that person is white/caucasian/European. That’s it if a character was black they’ll make sure they come back with a black actor or Indian or aboriginal. At some point they need to wake up and realize there wasn’t an issue with Snow White being white, they’re pushing their agenda on all of us that want to see who we grew up with. And I’m not even white, but I rather see a white woman play this character and some regular old white dwarves but if they started with an Asian woman in the original I would’ve preferred that as well.
You should definitely watch more episodes of The Twilight Zone. It's a classic for a reason. It was not afraid to tackle social issues. Also, it actually did several episodes that featured black actors, which was incredibly rare for its time. Because of its inclusion, it actually won an award for race relations. Rod Serling was very ahead of his time and a running theme of the show is our shared humanity. There's also an episode with a Japanese actor, an episode about the Holocaust, and there is an hour-long episode about new followers of a certain Austrian painter and the dangers of hatred--the episode is called "He's Alive."
