    Their website doesn't give me a good vibe.

    according to the dividend channel, ftn is up about 19% year to date in 2024. as of july 22 24, its NAV as estimated by mouserman at stockhouse is $8.60 a 21 cent premium over today's closing market price of $8.39. With interest rates coming down, FTN should only perform better over the rest of 2024. I own a few thousand shares of FTN and will continue to hold it.

      sounds like you know what you are invested in. but its def. not at a 21 premium. the lates UNIT NAV is 18.49 on their website so the class shares have a NAV of about 8.49 right now. its trading Approx. at PAR to NAV now.

      I also own a some shares in my TFSA and an account that’s not my TFSA and it’s up 49 cents a share since I bought it. I live in Canada so I’ll also hold it

    This is a problem for me. I have used your picks and successes to guide what I do (thank you very much, by the way), and if your tax situation as a Canadian non-resident changes your picks, that may not match what I should do as a Canadian resident.
    Damn. I’ll need to find a new guy to follow, as this stuff is so far beyond me, I feel like a fish staring at a submarine.

      i don't know... its not as easy to calculate that because i had different amounts of FTN in different years in multiple accounts. so i cant tell you. i can only say for sure what the total return was at the end

    • @lsrasr158
      @lsrasr158 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you check the dividend channel over the last few years, the annual rate of return on FTN has been poor as financials were negatively impacted by covid in 2020. however, 2024 is showing as a good year for FTN being up 19% year to date, jul 22 24.

    How long did you hold FTN to generate the income you listed?

    • @PassiveIncomeInvesting
      @PassiveIncomeInvesting  หลายเดือนก่อน

      A few years but that’s difficult to calculate since I had different amounts and gradually added over the years . Definitely not as good as an sp500 or nasdaq . That’s for sure

    Selling FTN seems like a bad movement at this point in time against the rate drop environment.

      could be.... I could have maybe waited to break even capital wise, but again, this move was done for a very specific and personal tax reason.

      @@PassiveIncomeInvesting as a paying member of your inner circle I would expect more of a response than "over a long period as every bit of information helps me in my journey into investing. If you take your initial investment of $80.102, subtract your loss of $7,225 and add dividend income of $19,000 the gross value ends up being $91,787. That's roughly a 15% return so if I take a long period of time to be 10 years that is a 1.5% annual return. A GIC at 5% over 10 years would give me $130,000
