This amendment of the citizenship act is not like a political agenda which had found its existence in recent times..it was done as a political promise that the ruling party had mentioned in its political manifesto in the 2014 and 2019 elections. ... 2. It is not targetting Muslims of our country (and also not in general).. Because what the bill talks about the religious minorities (who are being persecuted due to their religious identity) of the three countries,viz.,Pakistan ,Afghanistan and Bangladesh(all the previously mentioned three countries are Islamic nation and their respective constitution have defined the pure religion of Islam as the religion of the country , by saying this we mean to say that the persons belonging to the other religions would face inequalities in general rights and privileges), and one can easily say that in these Islamic nations, Muslims of course would not be termed as a minority... So this bill is not anti-Muslim .. The citizens of these 6 religions are facing persecution in these countries ,not the Muslims... And also this bill is not prohibiting Muslims of these three countries to acquire our citizenship.. As in the previous 5 years, more than 560 Muslims of these three countries have got Indian citizenship.. However they (the Muslims) can't get the citizenship by quoting the criteria of religious persecution mentioned in the bill... 3. This doesn't goes against the core values of our constitution.. As this bill don't mentions any provisions for the existing citizens thus it is not going anti secular... And it should be noted that India is secular for its citizens only when it comes to citizenship... Some also quotes Article15 while opposing this bill.. Then for their kind information, this article applies to citizens only... Now coming to article 14 .. In the Supreme Court judgment of sarbananda sonowal vs union of India it has been clearly mentioned that the government can do the differentiation and it is also legitimate if it is done on reasonable classification... And the provisions of the articles under citizenship (article 5-11).. Aapplies to existing Indian citizens.. This bill don't do anything to existing citizens.. And the most important one... under article 10 n article 11 parliament is authorized to make the future provisions regarding citizenship.. 4. In the CAB,2019.. The area with inner line permit and the north eastern states are exempted ... From the original copy of the Act ... (4) Nothing in this section shall apply to tribal area of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram or Tripura as included in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution and the area covered under "The Inner Line" notified under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 And it can also go hand in hand with the NRC... Conclusion We are following our traditional ideology of humanity towards religious persecuted people... And I would request to please don't mix the topic with Rohingyas and the Ahmedias refugees of Bangladesh and Pakistan respectively... Because ahmediyyas supported the two nation theory.. And see one thing is clear .. All the communities who r being excluded from the Act can get citizenship .., BT by not quoting this act.. That is they should not be illegal immigrant... Why the Assamese people are protesting against Citizenship (Amendment)Act? Ever since the CAB(now CAA) is passed in Lok Sabha, massive protests erupted all over the state of Assam. Non-Assamese people, living outside Assam, are confused as to why are they protesting? Is it their love for secularism or is it a left liberal agenda, sponsored by external agencies? Are they generally protest-happy folks without jobs or there are genuine concerns that we, non-Assamese people, don’t understand? Let me clarify it. 1. We are not protesting against CAA because we are a bunch of left liberal pseudo-seculars who are unhappy because persecuted Muslims are not part of CAA. Sorry, we don’t care about that. Our protest is not because it is discriminatory towards Muslims as some of the foreign media and politicians are trying to portray. 2. We are also not protesting because persecuted Hindus are being given citizenship. We are okay with it as we understand that India’s long cultural heritage makes it the only domicile of all Hindus 3. Then why are we protesting? We are protesting because Assam has a history of massive influx of illegal Bangladeshis. For various reasons (from economic to partition to war), over last 50 years, 7 million Bangladeshis have taken shelter in Assam changing its demography completely (There are various articles and studies on this which can be googled). The people of Assam, especially the students, led a massive protest against this problem in the 80s (google Assam Agitation, Student’s Movement, AASU, Prafulla Mahanta). After sacrificing 800+ lives, and countless student-years, we finally got NRC (among other things) thru Assam Accord. Despite all its flaws, high court monitored NRC was the best effort made so far in identifying illegal Bangladeshis after years of lip service by politicians. We were not happy with the final outcome of NRC as it could detect only 1.9 million but nonetheless, we accepted it grudgingly as ‘something is better than nothing’. It also gave us confidence that no more Bangladeshis can come or get regularized beyond 2019. Unfortunately, CAA nullifies all of it and not only legitimize 0.5 million out of 1.9 million but also opens the door for future influx! That’s why we are protesting. Now imagine the plight and pain of Assam 30 years from now with constant influx and increase in population of Hindu Bangladeshis (or Muslim Bangladeshis in the guise of Hindu) - 1. Assamese language and people will become a minority in Assam. 2. Majoritarian democracy of Bengalis will ensure total annihilation of Assamese language, culture and heritage That’s why we are protesting. BJP was voted to power in Assam for flawless execution of Assam Accord which AGP and Congress failed to implement. They also promised identification and deportation of illegal Bangladeshis. But with CAA, we are now forced to accept the burden of legalized Bangladeshis. This feels like a betrayal. And that’s why we are protesting. Moreover there are a few direct questions that need to be answered without indulging in whataboutery 1. If CAA is not good for Bodo, Karbi and Dima Hasao, how it is good for rest of Assam? 2. If rest of the NE states could protect themselves thru ILP, why Assam couldn’t do it thru clause 6 or any other instruments? 3. Is importing Hindu Bangladeshi is the only solution to counter the menace of Muslim Bangladeshis? By that logic we should create Hindu terrorists to counter Jihadis, no? May be there is some greater good that we have failed to see or understand. We are open to a logical explanation but not some roundabout rhetoric whataboutery about AASU, INC, AGP, or Assam becoming another Kasmir. Hope BJP leaders will honor the mandate of people and convince us about CAA soon. Till such time we will keep protesting. Few clarification and cautions - 1. Dear INC (and other opposition parties), you have no moral right to stand with us in this agitation as for donkey’s years you have exploited Assam, indulged in politics of appeasement and aggravated the Bangladeshi issue. We believe you are the root cause of all the evils. So, don’t use the protest to score your political brownie points 2. Dear left liberals (and foreign media and Imran Khan), we are not agitating because CAA is ‘unconstitutional and non-secular’ or discriminatory towards Muslims. Please stay clear and don’t try to hijack the agitation giving others a chance to say it is sponsored by left liberals. It is NOT. 3. Dear Bhakts, believe it or not, protesting folks of Assam are also bhakts as we have elected BJP govt in center and state. We are not agitating because we are misinformed about CAA, or we have problems with foreign Hindus getting Indian citizenship or it is sponsored by left liberals or Muslim appeasers. The emotions are genuine and spontaneous. We supported abrogation of article 370 and will support uniform civil code. Try to understand, then, why we are protesting in this case rather than ridiculing it. Otherwise stay clear.

If so, it will also violate Indian Indian Constitution as of now. And remember there number of illegal immigration in Assam who resides in Assam acquired their property , they are not residing in refugee shelter, so if they gonna be detained into others state then in very next train they will come again to Assam. Nevertheless in NRC there are many bangladeshi were not submitted there name in register. Because they know they would going to be detect in anyhow. So actual number of illegal bangladeshi is quite more then 19 lakh. So this bill will give them the wide path to become an Indian. And all assamese people will suffer.

Indigenous population in assam must be sufficed through constitutional remedies and strict action to control the influx of migrants. From 1979 to 1985 the people of Assam were involved in Assam Agitation, protesting the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis into Assam. This also led to the Nellie and Khoiraba massacre where thousands of Hindu and Muslim Bangladeshis lost their lives. In 1985 the Govt. Of India signed the Assam accord AASU AND AAGSP. Following that, the illegal immigrants who entered Assam after 1971 were not to be granted Indian Citizenship. Certain clauses were introduced the safeguard the adminstrative, legislative, social and cultural fabric of Assam. CAA changes this and instead of 1971, it proposes 31st December 2014 as the marking date to determine which immigrants will be given Indian citizenship. People arriving in Assam before this date will be granted citizenship. I would like to say one thing, this bill is dangerous for our entire Northeast, plus it violates the Article 14 of our Constitution. You have explained very clearly about the Assam Agitation which resulted to Assam Accord 1985. As a result NRC was held in Assam. NRC was to detect immigrants and to deport from wherever they came. Now CAA will provide citizenship to those specific religious group who have been detected as immigrants in the NRC. This contradict to one another. The indigenous people of Northeast are microscopic population. Immigrants will overrun the indigenous population and will lead to demographic change. Tripura is the live example. We don't want any Tripura type situation in our Northeast. That's why we are opposing the CAA. Jai Hind.

1. This amendment of the citizenship act is not like a political agenda which had found its existence in recent times..it was done as a political promise that the ruling party had mentioned in its political manifesto in the 2014 and 2019 elections. ...
2. It is not targetting Muslims of our country (and also not in general)..
Because what the bill talks about the religious minorities (who are being persecuted due to their religious identity) of the three countries,viz.,Pakistan ,Afghanistan and Bangladesh(all the previously mentioned three countries are Islamic nation and their respective constitution have defined the pure religion of Islam as the religion of the country , by saying this we mean to say that the persons belonging to the other religions would face inequalities in general rights and privileges),
and one can easily say that in these Islamic nations, Muslims of course would not be termed as a minority... So this bill is not anti-Muslim .. The citizens of these 6 religions are facing persecution in these countries ,not the Muslims...
And also this bill is not prohibiting Muslims of these three countries to acquire our citizenship.. As in the previous 5 years, more than 560 Muslims of these three countries have got Indian citizenship..
However they (the Muslims) can't get the citizenship by quoting the criteria of religious persecution mentioned in the bill...
3. This doesn't goes against the core values of our constitution.. As this bill don't mentions any provisions for the existing citizens thus it is not going anti secular... And it should be noted that India is secular for its citizens only when it comes to citizenship...
Some also quotes Article15 while opposing this bill.. Then for their kind information, this article applies to citizens only...
Now coming to article 14 ..
In the Supreme Court judgment of sarbananda sonowal vs union of India it has been clearly mentioned that the government can do the differentiation and it is also legitimate if it is done on reasonable classification...
And the provisions of the articles under citizenship (article 5-11).. Aapplies to existing Indian citizens.. This bill don't do anything to existing citizens..
And the most important one...
under article 10 n article 11 parliament is authorized to make the future provisions regarding citizenship..
4. In the CAB,2019.. The area with inner line permit and the north eastern states are exempted ...
From the original copy of the Act ...
(4) Nothing in this section shall apply to tribal area of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram or Tripura as included in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution and the area covered under "The Inner Line" notified under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873
And it can also go hand in hand with the NRC...

WHY THE PEOPLE OF ASSAM DON'T WANT "CAA"?
1) it violates "assam accord", In assam andolan 800+ people of Assam died protesting against these bangladeshis,implementing CAA will be disrespectful towards those people and for us!
2) muslim or non muslim, every illegal bangladeshi is the same for us, no matter what religion they follow!

Why the Assamese people are protesting against Citizenship (Amendment)Act?
Ever since the CAB(now CAA) is passed in Lok Sabha, massive protests erupted all over the state of Assam. Non-Assamese people, living outside Assam, are confused as to why are they protesting?
Is it their love for secularism or is it a left liberal agenda, sponsored by external agencies? Are they generally protest-happy folks without jobs or there are genuine concerns that we, non-Assamese people, don’t understand?
Let me clarify it.
1. We are not protesting against CAA because we are a bunch of left liberal pseudo-seculars who are unhappy because persecuted Muslims are not part of CAA. Sorry, we don’t care about that. Our protest is not because it is discriminatory towards Muslims as some of the foreign media and politicians are trying to portray.
2. We are also not protesting because persecuted Hindus are being given citizenship. We are okay with it as we understand that India’s long cultural heritage makes it the only domicile of all Hindus
3. Then why are we protesting? We are protesting because Assam has a history of massive influx of illegal Bangladeshis. For various reasons (from economic to partition to war), over last 50 years, 7 million Bangladeshis have taken shelter in Assam changing its demography completely (There are various articles and studies on this which can be googled). The people of Assam, especially the students, led a massive protest against this problem in the 80s (google Assam Agitation, Student’s Movement, AASU, Prafulla Mahanta). After sacrificing 800+ lives, and countless student-years, we finally got NRC (among other things) thru Assam Accord. Despite all its flaws, high court monitored NRC was the best effort made so far in identifying illegal Bangladeshis after years of lip service by politicians. We were not happy with the final outcome of NRC as it could detect only 1.9 million but nonetheless, we accepted it grudgingly as ‘something is better than nothing’. It also gave us confidence that no more Bangladeshis can come or get regularized beyond 2019. Unfortunately, CAA nullifies all of it and not only legitimize 0.5 million out of 1.9 million but also opens the door for future influx! That’s why we are protesting.
Now imagine the plight and pain of Assam 30 years from now with constant influx and increase in population of Hindu Bangladeshis (or Muslim Bangladeshis in the guise of Hindu) -
1. Assamese language and people will become a minority in Assam.
2. Majoritarian democracy of Bengalis will ensure total annihilation of Assamese language, culture and heritage
That’s why we are protesting.
BJP was voted to power in Assam for flawless execution of Assam Accord which AGP and Congress failed to implement. They also promised identification and deportation of illegal Bangladeshis. But with CAA, we are now forced to accept the burden of legalized Bangladeshis. This feels like a betrayal.
And that’s why we are protesting.
Moreover there are a few direct questions that need to be answered without indulging in whataboutery
1. If CAA is not good for Bodo, Karbi and Dima Hasao, how it is good for rest of Assam?
2. If rest of the NE states could protect themselves thru ILP, why Assam couldn’t do it thru clause 6 or any other instruments?
3. Is importing Hindu Bangladeshi is the only solution to counter the menace of Muslim Bangladeshis? By that logic we should create Hindu terrorists to counter Jihadis, no?
May be there is some greater good that we have failed to see or understand. We are open to a logical explanation but not some roundabout rhetoric whataboutery about AASU, INC, AGP, or Assam becoming another Kasmir. Hope BJP leaders will honor the mandate of people and convince us about CAA soon.
Till such time we will keep protesting.
Few clarification and cautions -
1. Dear INC (and other opposition parties), you have no moral right to stand with us in this agitation as for donkey’s years you have exploited Assam, indulged in politics of appeasement and aggravated the Bangladeshi issue. We believe you are the root cause of all the evils. So, don’t use the protest to score your political brownie points
2. Dear left liberals (and foreign media and Imran Khan), we are not agitating because CAA is ‘unconstitutional and non-secular’ or discriminatory towards Muslims. Please stay clear and don’t try to hijack the agitation giving others a chance to say it is sponsored by left liberals. It is NOT.
3. Dear Bhakts, believe it or not, protesting folks of Assam are also bhakts as we have elected BJP govt in center and state. We are not agitating because we are misinformed about CAA, or we have problems with foreign Hindus getting Indian citizenship or it is sponsored by left liberals or Muslim appeasers. The emotions are genuine and spontaneous. We supported abrogation of article 370 and will support uniform civil code. Try to understand, then, why we are protesting in this case rather than ridiculing it. Otherwise stay clear.

i have 1 doubt here... i think most of the Bangladeshi ppl are muslims but this act will not allow muslims to be citizen of india...in this way most of the muslim Bangladeshi immigrations will be out.

NRC detected 1.9 million out of which more than 0.5 million will get citizenship through this Act. But We the Assamese people want all immigrants who have entered Assam after 24 March 1971 are to be identified and deported irrespective of their religion.
Moreover when we are facing problem while feeding our people, then these immigrants..!!! Does this make any sense???

@@madhukumar3421 but under the article 2 , India deals with single citizenship, and no government should impose by any law to detain forcefully a citizen from one state to other except 6th schedule area. If so, it will also violate Indian Indian Constitution as of now. And remember there number of illegal immigration in Assam who resides in Assam acquired their property , they are not residing in refugee shelter, so if they gonna be detained into others state then in very next train they will come again to Assam.
Nevertheless in NRC there are many bangladeshi were not submitted there name in register. Because they know they would going to be detect in anyhow. So actual number of illegal bangladeshi is quite more then 19 lakh. So this bill will give them the wide path to become an Indian. And all assamese people will suffer.

I oppose this bill as it narrows down the definition of persecution and also creates the impression that all refugees are from specific religious communities. Indigenous population in assam must be sufficed through constitutional remedies and strict action to control the influx of migrants. It is obnoxious to create a parallel citizenship based on religious identity

these 3 countries mentioned in that act and only time is decreased(7 years to 5 years) and requirement of valid visa is removed, for prefencial citizens, and some minor changes happens related to documents in CAA2019

@@anjuraturi9792 The protests and demonstration in Assam has very different aspects to them. From 1979 to 1985 the people of Assam were involved in Assam Agitation, protesting the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis into Assam. This also led to the Nellie and Khoiraba massacre where thousands of Hindu and Muslim Bangladeshis lost their lives. In 1985 the Govt. Of India signed the Assam accord AASU AND AAGSP. Following that, the illegal immigrants who entered Assam after 1971 were not to be granted Indian Citizenship. Certain clauses were introduced the safeguard the adminstrative, legislative, social and cultural fabric of Assam.
CAA changes this and instead of 1971, it proposes 31st December 2014 as the marking date to determine which immigrants will be given Indian citizenship. People arriving in Assam before this date will be granted citizenship. The Assam is burning because if CAA is applied, the whole Assam accord will become void and it would be disrespectful to all those 855 people who lost their lives and thousands who got injured during Assam Agitation. CAA will lead to influx of crores of foreigners ultimately destroying the various cultural and linguistic identity of various ethnic groups of Assam.
Not only the bill is undemocratic but also extremely unconstitutional, crippling the very basic structure of Indian Constitution. Assam is NOT a dumping ground. How would you feel if you'll be a minority at your own place? The Assamese population is already a minority and by accepting this Bill, it will be as if we sold our own home, where we sacrificed blood, sweat and everything to built, to some foreigner.
With India's current population control and lack of employment and crippled economy, what do you think these foreigners will resort to? Crime.

Very clear explanation Ma'am. This is my first time watching your video and you've earned a subscriber. I would like to say one thing, this bill is dangerous for our entire Northeast, plus it violates the Article 14 of our Constitution. You have explained very clearly about the Assam Agitation which resulted to Assam Accord 1985. As a result NRC was held in Assam. NRC was to detect immigrants and to deport from wherever they came. Now CAA will provide citizenship to those specific religious group who have been detected as immigrants in the NRC. This contradict to one another. The indigenous people of Northeast are microscopic population. Immigrants will overrun the indigenous population and will lead to demographic change. Tripura is the live example. We don't want any Tripura type situation in our Northeast. That's why we are opposing the CAA. Jai Hind.
