If you're playing with disasters, one of the vanilla maps has a giant lake in the middle. When you put a meteor right in the center of it, you also get a tsunami from the displaced water.
Actually, I like the idea of a random disaster every 10 minutes and the starting land is on a peninsula (as I don't think there are islands in the game, are there?).
I want you and Biffa to do a collab where he tries to make a nice city then you just do whatever the hell back and forth across a few play sessions. I bet it will be hilarious!
I’m so used to watching actual Cities Skylines TH-camrs who do beautiful cities I forgot this was RCE… the house directly at the motorway ending u-turn reminded me real quick though
When you realize that your city council has advance warning on meteor strikes and they're not evacuating the people. "We were in the middle of construction, why are we suddenly relocating?" "Oh, no reason!"
Imagine dying in a meteor strike. Getting buried in a newly built cemetery IN the meteor crater. Then said cemetery getting destroyed by yet another meteor strike. Must be a descendant of Tsutomu Yamaguchi lol
Can we take a moment to salute the residents of this budding large town who still live here despite losing their friends and family and having to repair and demolish and rebuild every single time a meteor hits?
@2:32 the pocket cars are whats happening. CS people can just pull a car out of their pocket start driving as if every sidewalk is a parking lot. Its one of my least favorite things about this game, and the pedestrian zones only made this pocket car thing even worse. I've spent all this time making a nice route to the tourist beach with plenty of transportation, and it was all completely useless because the whole area instantly gridlocked because POCKET CARS and there is like 1000 people pulling our their pocket cars at once all getting onto the road at once, instead of using the parking lot 10 feet down the road, or the free public transportation 10 feet down the road right next to the free parking. Its honestly one of the things i really hope CS 2 fixes
Day 214:Dear Matt, I have a very good video idea Gather all your editors and make them all have 3 chances to make the cheapest, best and most efficient bridge, or the best score on any motorway game(e.g AQR, that one train game, ect...), or who make the longest and most efficient shapes. And see who is the best editor and is worthy of the rank of a classified engineering. From me.
That was the most insanely efficient map I have seen you build yet. It goes above and beyond. Every single shape was a strong one. Incredible work of art 💪
This was actually really fun to watch, Cities: Skylines is actually on sale right now; so I might pick it up for the fun. used to play sim city a lot back in the day, doing this exact same stuff. Take care, Matt! Great content as always!!
Should start the timer after unlocking landscaping. Gives you a bit more time to prep, and doesnt make so many start, like having two meteors from the start
He’s referring collectively to 2 spots as he mouses over, so really 1 in 6. And throw in the other spot he wasn’t referring to that was also already hit, and it’s 1 in 4 😂
Bombarding yourself and your citizens with meteors? Sounds like architecture to me... If Matt reads this: Day 2 of asking if Matt can play Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
With a location choice based on a clock, you should build the most crucial parts of town in the middle of the square, so... every meteor would miss it. Then make the city dump, grave yard and stuff like that out in the edges where the meteors will strike!
Loving that the last few minutes is just preparing for thr next meteor, then having to clean up and prepare for the next meteor over and over to the point where there is no time to focus on the city
I'd like to see this again, but you need to plant a bunch of those disaster buildings and see how well they can help clean up by themselves. I believe they help, right?
matt, my friend if you design the areas where the meteors are gonna hit like a clock, wouldn´t it be easier to build everything in the middle? the chances of getting hit would be slim, and you would always have the core of your city. just saying
10:32 I did not notice until you pointed it out, and I agree the next disaster challenge should be to build a city but every 10 minutes a disaster at max scale happens, or as time passes the severity grows.
I got natural disaster pack about a month ago and nothing happened in my main city but suddenly at one point today I got four disasters in the span of like probably half an hour and I did not make them happen I’m seriously not kidding
you are a Engineer but went with a clockwise target, thats such a architect way a true Engineer would go with a 3x3 or 4x3 grid in the map, so it wouldnt leave the middle empty
that's my main problem with going wind from the start, somehow when going wind I always end up not having enough to build another turbine and I always need another one
You are spoiling us RCE. Songs, Beavers, Bridge Reviews, Strongest shapes and now a high budget ultra professional colored WHEEL OF SEVERE SEVERITY!!!!™. I mean... where does this end.

So is it just me, or is it possible that dropping a meteor into a crater previously formed by another meteor actually helps to mitigate the damage? Haven't played enough Skylines to know if the damage radius is constant or if it's really affected by terrain enough to matter.
Randomized disasters, definitely. And turn the city into a grid instead so you don't actually need to build in a circle! I'd expect an engineer to favour a grid over a circle. Circles are architect shapes.
You should get a mod that does that for you so you can set how often the disasters are and then it is just a random disaster every 10 min with out you needing to spin a wheel or whatever.
Paul Moller: The Moller Skycar will be owned by 10% of the population with in 10 years You: Don’t flying cars already exist? We only need 9942 Apophis to hit us. Right?
Only Matt could take a square plot of land and say "what's the best way to divide this into coordinates? A clock!"
Yup
"How shall I slice up this pie? I know! A grid!"
Sounds like a real architect move there
Yeah, I was wondering why he didn't just use a chessboard coordinates
He should have used roundabouts me thinks 🤔

I got used to the more serious cities skylines players and now it hurts to see a city being built like this lmao
Bro fr I can go from Viewing Akruas' Altengrad and Asturis to watching this💀
how I feel when most of my cities skylines stuff has been City Planner Plays...
still love RCE though but it's painful XD
Going from City Planner Plays to RCE
RCE reminds us that games are about having fun. People that take it seriously can be entertaining too, but RCE's brand of chaos is very refreshing.
Welcome to the Thunderdome
I feel like someone could just make a mod to do this, and be totally random so you could just keep building while they keep falling.
Disasters DLC with max disaster frequency:
You’re not wrong, but that’s not really in the spirit of the thing, is it?
The difference in play styles between RCE and City Planner Plays makes me laugh 😂 great entertainment, thanks for the laughs!
Actually, I like the idea of a random disaster every 10 minutes and the starting land is on a peninsula (as I don't think there are islands in the game, are there?).
There are
Awesome. Then I'd recommend an island map just to make it easier for tsunami hits and such. That said, a peninsula is a rather efficient land form. 🤔
If I'm not mistaken natural disasters dlc got an island map
@@a7x429 it has an archipelago

With a location choice based on a clock, you should build the most crucial parts of town in the middle of the square, so... every meteor would miss it.
Then make the city dump, grave yard and stuff like that out in the edges where the meteors will strike!
He considered that cheating so he should’ve just used a chessboard for the coordinates of meteor
now do a meteor every 10 second and you pick the destination by closing your eyes and wiggling your mouse and clicking blindly
both gives you more of a chance to not be hit while also allowing you to be it anywhere
I can imagine that Country Roads is just constantly playing in this town
