I grew up in that area and that ferry dock was one of our favorite spots back in the day. Had a 2WD back then and had to learn how to drive on the beach without getting stuck and how to get out when I did. Good video

ahhhh the often never shown or spoken of....the grubby details of breaking down camp! also, in mayport there is a place called "the hangar" ...best Ramen you have ever put in your mouth!!!! Ron, it is almost worth a road trip there just for THAT! ha

I have GOT to check these places out. Used to drive on the beach all the time in NY on Long Island. Smith point beach has 5 plus miles of beach to drive on. Can take Burma road to the inlet and fish. Miss it so much

Overland Florida I literally went and found me a 4x4 (03 F150) because i was so hyped about overlanding. Budget is super limited so little by little I’ll get there!
I live in Tavares and just got my Frontier all set up. That looks like a nice place to visit this time of year. I don't have an AC so I'm looking at winter camping for Florida

Love tour vids man. I’m doing my best growing my channel. What software do you use for editing? Your Go Pro vids are always so nice and clear. Can you give any advice for setting to film in or software to edit? Keep it up brother! If you ever come Louisiana hit me up.
I use a gopro 7 black. The only editing program I use is Windows Movie Maker. It's free and easy to use.
Looking forward to getting back to normal and more new content. Till then the reruns will have to do. Hopefully get to catch up with y'all one of these days. Stay safe, stay healthy!

Where do you get the permit?
I'm kind of surprised that you didn't make a stop at Amelia Island State Park on the extreme south end of the island. That has a very large drive-able beach area that's at least a couple of miles long.
We stopped there about 2 months ago. So we didn't want to waste time going back there. Although its a great beach to drive on.

Too soft. I've never seen an actual camper trailer or RV out there. It might actually be tent camping only. But either way, it's closed now.

I have So many questions haha. Were you able to drive up the beach to the fort? Do you need to buy a ORV pass or something to drive on the beach? Can you get an out of state pass? I’m only partway through the video so will probably have more, sorry. The family misses beach day with our expedition on Long Island so this is a great possibility for us

@@OverlandFlorida what a shame. That was the good thing about the beach in NY I drove on. There were no hours down that way. Purchases a pass and could go out when ever as long as the piping plover wasn’t nesting. There was a bunch of beaches on Long Island you could drive on but Smith point was the best.

I would have done everything to helped that guy out in the mini van. Should have dug deeper to utilize the trax.
70% of the frame was sitting on the ground. We could have dug and dug. But we didn't have enough trax to lift the van up off the frame.

Anyone know if you're allowed to camp on this beach again now. I know there was a standing ordinance from covid that went till October of this year. Do we know if this was renewed or if beach camping is back on?
I can't get a solid answer either. It's too far for me to just go check on my own.

You can’t anymore. They don’t allow camping there anymore. The rich people don’t want to see poor people camping on their beach.
Because of all the attention to this place, it's no longer allowing camping on the beach. Went there two weeks ago and they closed off for overnight camping.
It's been closed since Covid.
@@OverlandFlorida yea that and they said people kept trashing the place. They had a town hall meeting about it and decided to close it off to camping. You can camp in the lot but not on the beach.

Avoid activating the 4WD while driving. It may cause problems in transfer case. Better to stop then activate it.
