The Health Benefits of Baobab Fruit Part 1: Moderating the Glycaemic Response

  • In 2013, researchers from the Oxford Brookes Centre for Nutrition and Health published a paper on the remarkable impact of baobab fruit powder on glycaemic response. In this episode, Gus (the African Plant Hunter) delves deeper into the properties if this extraordinary African superfruit and investigates why this happens (it's all, apparently, in the fibre and polyphenols) and what the implications are for our health. His conclusion - baobab fruit powder is an excellent food to help moderate glycaemic and insulin response, manage weight and prevent the onset of Type 2 Diabetes.
    In addition to his plant-hunting activities, Gus also runs a baobab-producing business in Zimbabwe (www.bayoba.biz), and is the current Chair of the African Baobab Alliance (www.africanbaobaballiance.org).

      I understand the value of the trees, but I definitely don't understand the crazy mind of someone who would try to uproot a live tree and transport it half way across the world for replanting in a totally different climate!

    thanx for that informative lesson how much is enough per day

    • @AfricanPlantHunter
      @AfricanPlantHunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. 10 g per day is an effective serving. You can go more than that, but the high fibre content will have a laxative effect beyond about 25 g per day, so maybe stick below that!
