In all honesty, once you get the controls rights, and especially with how broken the shift abilities can be, it's really fun to try and speedrun the levels.

so one thing in this dlc, that angers me, if u do unlock the template and go in cereative, u can spawn chao, and u can only spawn one, special chao, in creative, a lil enderman chao, and my god, WHY WAS THIS NOT IN THE MAIN GAME?! he is so adorable, he even picks up a tiny lil block and i'm just like, WHY WASN'T HE ADDED
Well at least we can say that it's the best Sonic game to come out in 2021, mostly because it's the only one but that's besides the point
This DLC allows you to charge and release your spin dashes while midair or jumping. It even slows your fall to help you aim it. I think this is such a cool improvement on the spin dash AND homing attack that lets you pull off some really cool skips and saves as Sonic. Tails can even charge and release his spin dash while flying which can become ludicrous. No sonic game has ever implemented this before, and I love that this fan creation in Minecraft has put this super fun idea into the game, intentionally or not. Bit of a shame that Garrulous didn't mention anything about the spin dash or the shitty momentum system but still a top tier video.
Definitely makes for game breaks but also makes for lots of fun speedrun

@@syweb2 it's an offical mash up without a texture pack. Also fun fact it is the first to be made by gamemode one and not listed as Minecraft
so this is a feature.. and not a bug
I found that at first this DLC felt really clunky like you described, but like a lot of Sonic games, the more I played it, the more I enjoyed myself. After I understood the level design and mechanics a little better, it became a lot of fun speeding through the levels. Sure, the hitboxes on enemy's aren't great and most of the "puzzles" were pretty weak, but for $8, I think this DLC was well worth it, especially since I spent at least 5 hours just playing through the world. The references in the hub world were also fantastic and showed that the creators of this DLC clearly cared about Sonic. The effort was definitely there, it just fell short in a few areas.

Another unfortunate soul who bought the pack on switch was TWIP, and it was laggy, chunks wouldn't load, random freezes and being randomly thanos shapped, in the end every one was trying to teach him how to put the world in creative so he could spawn a infinite amount of rings to buy shadow but mostly because he was done with the game's BS. So if you want this on switch, only buy it for the skins as it was borderline unplayable.

well on switch anyway, i have it on xbox and its fine, controls are the only issue since they tried to adapt minecraft's controls to play like a sonic game.

The reason the DLC is bad on switch isnt because the dlc is unoptimized, the entirety of minecraft on switch has awful preformance.
Seriously, my computer that natively runs windows 7 can run minecraft leagues better than on switch.
5:55 Don't play this on Switch period, unless you like dying because the game freezes for a while or because you can't see the level at all
or it crahses constantly whenever it wants (100% of a crash)

6:32 That's more on Minecraft's part, specifically the original developer Notch, he definitely didn't intend the game to be played this way, so jumps will act weird and speed beyond speed 4 in a flat open space tends to be uncontrollable unless you shift or jump often to slow down.
8:01 that is also Minecraft's fault, Minecraft wasn't built for attacking by ramming a balled up version of yourself at high speeds into your opponent like Sonic games mostly focus on.
At least they finally acknowledge gamma.

Yeah the Switch version does freeze and not load the area well, but other than that its kinda good
I played as Tails for the whole thing, and accidentally flew OVER and OUT of the level in chemical plant zone.
I then wandered aimlessly, and discovered that you can consistently escape the level at the loops, by just flying over.
Cuts out some of the level, at least.
Just make sure to have enough rings before you do it, or you've failed.

Mario’s Mashup pack was a joy to explore! Mixing NSMBU’s hubworld with famous set pieces and locations from the other games, and the entirety of Dinosaur Land! In this, the most joy I found was in Tail’s Workshop. I would have much rathered it be like the LEGO Dimensions Sonic World.
The fact that the DLC stages are literally the exact same as the ones in Sonic Generations really ticks me off.

I was one of the few who played this on the Switch. It was an experience like no other and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
Sonic sends mario to minecraft then Proceeds to enter minecraft to finish the job.

Jokes aside, if you have bedrock and want some cool skins that rep Sonic, 8 dollars is SO freaking worth it.
Being able to use Metal Knuckles alone makes it for me. XD
But seriously, this dlc was made with such care, it's just... there's only so much you can do in Minecraft before you need to start modding things.

what i would of done for a sonic Minecraft DLC
1. make the controls better
2.include more characters,
3. make more stages
4. make the behavior back available for regular Minecraft play
5. give every character super forms because WHY NOT
6. use the unused super sonic theme
7. make the stages more open and encourager's you to explore (like the original games did)
8. add more characters because again, WHY NOT
9. make the special stages more sonic 2 esc because i thought they were pretty neat
10. give some of the easter eggs some more playable use
11. when you beat regular minecraft using the behavior back you recive the master emerald wich will gran you a hyper
12. and finally, give this dlc a story and some boss's
they could of done atleast 2 of these and then i'd give a dame

I agree, it probably is one of the best items on the minecraft market place but that isn't saying much. It would be good if it was free but for 8 dollars the gameplay should have been a lot better
You can get an infinite spin dash if you hold the running joystick after you get out of crouch

Mario had the better dlc, if Sonic had the museum type world we could have seen more stages represented. Instead we get awkward stages and the same 3 zones that have been overused for years

I know it's Minecraft but honestly, most of the character designs look half-assed.
Like, I don't get why Sonic's spines couldn't have been a few smaller cubes stacked on larger ones in a sort of step pyramid formation to give the illusion of their typical conical shape while still maintaining the Minecraft's block aesthetic.
Instead, he just has ugly blue bricks on his head & backside because nobody could be bothered to give him an iota of design polishing.

Knuckles can fly higher than tails because his momentum is overpowered, you aim a little high and then glide to go higher.
