Scratch can take time to master, but it's perfect for people who are asking the question "How to learn how to program?" or "How to make video games". - เกม
The baby stock images...it's beautiful
they are indeed beautiful and inspiring ✨✨✨ :’)
Yah
Yes😂
And that "beautiful" blue elephant! That's on another level
yes
I'm almost approaching my 7th year on scratch. It's really cool seeing other people go through their history on Scratch!
Ya. but i didnt use scratch this much
I used it for 1 year
@@PortalDrifteri used it for half a year (for some reason i want there to be chane of everybody saying how long they have been using scratch)
@@SLINKIS2 i have used it for 8 hours
I started using it last year
This is a very interesting video! Love it. You really deserve what you got now after all of this! Today, you're one of my favorite scratchers
You're a lot younger than I am, but honestly, your journey is super inspiring! I've been a hobby dev for about 5 years and I just started a YT channel too! Only difference is, I was much older and didn't show any of my games to anyone. Just wanna say that it seems like you're on the right track, and to keep doing what you're doing. Subbed and can't wait for more!
"You're a lot longer than I am" 😳😳🤨🤨
@@kylehickmen1684 hahaha I meant a lot *younger
ayo a lot longer?
what "longer" man?
lol not this again@@dexterdruboanimations-6403
This is such a motivating story! Congratulations on your achievements so far, and in not giving up! I will definitely follow your example.
I've noticed there's a surge of Scratch content on TH-cam lately, and I'm all in for it. Scratch is an underrated but good programming language/game engine, I don't really use anything else for animation or games. The website certainly could be better, but as a program, it's probably the best thing we ever could get our hands on.
I have been on Scratch for 5 years now, and I totally agree with you. Until roughly a year ago, I had a very high and annoying voice, which, in my opinion, made my already cringey games and animations even worse. But, for some reason, one of them is still one of my most viewed projects of all time (around 90 views). Looking back at my beginnings, I have learned a lot, and I have no fear of custom blocks! :D
This is awesome! I also started programming on Scratch about 7 years ago, but I've since learned basically every mainstream programming language except C and C++ :D
I especially love The Kingdom of Nor! Its just too good for scratch :)
This video is amazing-the story and the (is it quite a moral?) are just really nice.
You've come a long way, you deserve all the support!
I don't know why but scratch has been a comfort website of mine for many many years, yet i've never become better nor have I ever completed a project I was proud of. I often go back with some game idea and try my hardest at it for a couple of days (maybe even a few weeks) but eventually I reach a road block and just stress myself out. I've played your games before and they inspire me to make something too, no matter how bad... but man that mental block is brutal and I just cant push myself to be better. Anyways, the video just made me think of this and I just wanted to type it out for no particular reason. I'm working on a small point and click game now, and hopefully I actually reach a state of "finish" with this one.
Bro I used to play your games so much back then good to see you man
I have been almost 4 years on scratch. It is so interesting seeing your story
I recently managed to make an actual 2D collision engine after almost *8 years* of Scratch. At that time, I had a tiny PC that would take 10 minutes to fully boot up. I had downloaded Scratch 2 desktop and made animations and games with it. And then, I discovered Scratch 3 and its community. I think it's amazing how far I've come (even though it's just a collision engine :D).
i was 8 YEARS WHEN I STARTED SCARTCH THANKS YOUR VIDEO IS SO MOITIVING TO DONT GIVE UP
I loved Scratch! My peak Scratch years were 2014-2018. I first heard about it in 3rd grade in Muse magazine, I think. I remember waking up early every morning in the summer because I couldn’t wait to get on my Dad’s laptop and work on my games :-). I am now studying Computer Science and Engineering at Ohio State and I fully accredit that decision to Scratch. My favorite games I made were Epic Stray Cat World the Game and Bread Platformer. I also did a lot of MAPs and animation projects. It’s good to know Scratch is still thriving since I left :-D.
what’s your user
Cool vid! Really inspired me to try Scratch too!
I REALLY LOVE YOUR MELLO SERIES
TIMMEH
OH SO THIS IS HOW YOU STARTED (your games were always an inspiration for me)
You gave me hope!
I've been debating making games on scratch. I've been doing game dev with other engines for a while so its not that i need the simplicity but more that i think it'd be cool to make for a community of people. Most of my games haven't been played outside of game jams they were made for, it could be a nice change of pace. The restrictions also sound like a fun challenge.
good luck, I highly recommend you try it out :3
This video is indeed an inspiring one, inspiring many young minds! :)
Hello just want to say a big fan. I have been doing programming for about 2 years now, and I have enjoyed it a lot. After learning Python I thought my career would definitely be as a programmer or an indie game developer, I always tried everything and I really had fun doing them. over the 2 years, I have tried more than many software both in programming and designing. Finally, I thought this was the way I chose as my career path. But recently I have lost my passion for programming, I don't know what to do, or when to do it. It's like I have lost the interest I had, I don't know why. It is leading me to give up programming for good. After watching so many videos like this and getting the message to "NOT GIVE UP", I'm still at a standstill. Not knowing what to do 😔
you are really good at coding i dont know whether you are a kid or an adult but you are really brilliant you really deserves this after 6 years ......i just want to be like you one day
OMG DID U KNOW THAT GRIFFPATCH IS FOLLOWING UUUUUUUU 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🏫🏫🏫
7:06 Yoo is that SamDoesArt's piece??? His work is so recognizable, I love it
oh man, i’m only 21, but you saying you were 10 in 2017 makes me fee ancient. I remember picking up scratch when I was 9 or 10, before the editor was browser based and it was a desktop app. super super neat knowing kids my junior also carried the torch of starting game dev with scratch!
i turn 10 in 2043

Any tips for a beginning scratcher
The music in 1:40 gave me a heart attack. I know its just stock copyright free music but...I've heard this music being used in a certain Uh....Christian game. (You know what i mean)
Btw loved the video. I used to do some scrach games back some years ago. Might give a try again.
8:40 YOU made Mello?! I’m so surprised!
“Draw your own!”
I love the baby stock images😂
Me knowing I’ve played Mellow and finding out you made it as some random lore dump 😶
Hey, what's the name of the game that appears at 1:40 ? I really like the artstyle !
It is called 'Unfamiliar' by Scratch user Hubalaboo :3
@@chipm0nk thanks !
YOU BETTER FINISH K.O.N. I am going to speed run as soon as you do
hey quick question i tried to find the sequel to mello but I couldn't find it can you tell me what its called i would love it
It's called 'Mello 2' but for some reason it doesn't come up in search results on scratch; just go to my profile and you'll find it there (search chipm0nk)
I remember, when I was 8 years old, me and my class was reading a story about a 9 year old game dev. So I decided when I was 9 (I'm 10 now), I should make a game. But I used Unity so now I use Godot since I need to pay, (I'm not that old to have a paypal)
My story is the same as yours but i started later. I'm currently at the 4 years on Scratch mark
Yay! Bo’s on top!
*obs
My guy; actual anthropologists weep when they see some little kid's doodles on the edges of their papyrus on their homework or scribbled on old ruin walls and stuff. Trust me, someone will appreciate your work. Heck, *I* saw that first game and squeed a little. I made one just like it in Hypercard when I was about the same age in middle school. (Yes, Hypercard is ancient. Yes, I'm old. Stuff it. :P ) ... My point is, LittleM0nk did JUST fine. They got a little bombarded... but I think they came out okay. :3
But, yeah, make stuff. Also, take breaks. But also make stuff. ;3
"Im not bragging" yeah right 😂
Finish the kingdom of nor I've played it and it was nice
Omg Chipm0nk, I haven’t watched any of your videos yet! I played your game Geometry Egg Dash!
