I'm similar to you but average 220. Although I could have sold higher and bought again lower, I wasn't to know what would happen. I'm happy with my position. Still buying.

Well, I bought a number of blocks of TSLA back in January 2023 when Elon Musk was buying Twitter. My average price is $136. No regrets.

@@mountainshark2388 Well, I remember Elon was selling large blocks of shares at a time over weeks in order to finance the purchase, so I waited until Elon was done, or nearly done, and I started buying. It wasn't rocket surgery.
Tesla stock swings too much to calmly accumulate and hold, After buying TSLA shares for just over 10 years, i'm struggling to make gains presently. How do i adjust or revamp my $2M portfolio? Should i consider some defensive investments?
Everyone needs a Margin of Safety in their portfolios and just remember, It's time in the market versus timing the market.
Just buy Gold and protect your assets, the stock market is a rollercoaster.
The market is not necessarily a rollercoaster if you know your way around the market, there are various opportunities in the present market to accrue good profit, If you are not too savvy with the market, just buy and hold on strong companies with good earnings, or consult with advisors on Etfs and actively managed funds. I am up by 58% in 6 years under guidance.

Also waiting on Q1 selloff again since Chinese Newyear is the reason why all the bots will sell. Usually -5-10% for a day because TSLA missed "Wallstreet estimates for Q1" Has been happening for years now. Buying 50-60k usd, been saving up since 250 downtrend. Tesla was a car company, growing 50% a year and had the highest gross margin and it deserved a PE of 50/60/70
Now it’s a car company with dropping margins, deliveries projected to shrink this year(Q1 down 5% YoY), a 20 PE is what it deserves AT BEST
Earnings are estimated at $3 a share and at 20 PE that’s $60
I personally think we’re gonna get $2 earnings per share for 2024
Even this whole FSD thing is lame
If 10% of people buy FSD with the new car, that’s $600M net profit

I too have bought at $380. I started at $18. When you consider, you get a shed load more shares for your 20k or whatever at the lower prices, so DCA is actually very powerful.

I can't decide whether or not I regret selling all my Nvidia for Tesla when Dojo was announced back in 2021 cause Nvidia exploded in a way I thought Tesla would do by now. It was the only other company stock I ever owned for a long time besides Tesla. I chose the horse I think will be the best in the long term and will stick with it.

Consistent with a Long Term TSLA Buy and Hold approach, and especially for those of us whom have been accumulating TSLA shares for years and bought TSLA lots at prices way higher than where it is now, Tax Loss Harvesting might be an attractive technique for 2024! Bearing in mind what the 30 Day Wash Rule provides, select your highest cost basis lots of TSLA shares and sell them. Harvest the losses to be applied to your 2024 taxes. Once the 30 Day Wash Sale duration expires, buy back those (and likely way more) TSLA shares all at a lower price. As 2024 has been and may possibly continue to be may be a tough year for TSLA stock prices, it could be a great way to also wind up with plenty more TSLA Shares (than if you simply held your highest cost basis TSLA shares) and a significant Tax Loss to use against yout 2024 Taxes. [NOTE: This is NOT TAX ADVISE! Talk to your Tax advisor and do your own research about where TSLA Stock prices may be heading. And, be certain to understand the 30 Day Wash Sale Rule!!]

I startaded buying Tesla this year when we were around 200. I’ve studied the company deeply and found out Tesla is not just a carcompany 😁 I really hope we Will get a big sale q1 earnings. I Will put 20% of my earnings all this year in Tesla. I think this is a great oppertunety. 🎉
Why worry about Q1 earnings - the businesses are sound and growing, their technology is the best and its not close - if Q1 stinks Q2 next year will take them high (model 2 or FSD or utility storage or semi or lower interest rates or BYD blocked from Mexico or whatever). Worrying about quarterly results means you should probably be a Walmart investor.
dollar cost averaging works well too for the Vanguard S&P index funds etc etc etc as a balance for older retiring / retiree folks who need funds sooner ... with a smaller tsla position etc if your young buy more tesla etc ...

5:07 Personally I'm hoping for more fear on TSLA. Seeing FSD 12.3 has me incredibly bullish and the lower prices we get over short term fears on auto margins the better. Here's to analysts not updating for the unexpected downtime due to Red Sea and German crazies so the deliveries look extra bad for Q1 and fear floods in.

I always do a short term buy evaluation. Like right now in the short term I’m buying under 200. Bought all I could under 200 last year (200 average) and sold all at 260-280. And have now been buying back more under 200-210. I’m on an average of 200,5 right now.
I was late in to Tesla stock (because I was a dumbass). So I’m trying to use the volatility to get more stocks fore the same budget.

Peter Schwartz published a book, ("The Art Of The Long View"), around 1979 IIRC that describes using the strategy you use for business strategic planning. Basically it explains how to manage decisions better than the just make a decision and hope it turns out okay.

i bought in at $129. Then i timed the market the crash in Dec. (23) and lost $46K. I still have night sweats about that. Now I hold and watch and hold. Don't need this money now, but will be needing it in 4 years. I'm making this bet instead of jumping on to nvda stock. I'm maturing as an investor. I couldn't believe how quickly and easily i lost $46K!

I’m down 31% over all on Tesla lifetime. I’m holding and smoking the hopium. It will come. My first shares acquired killed it, though. Main problem is I did a major purchase when it was approaching $300/ share. Been DCA for most over the last couple years.

I've been buying 😅. The future will be so bright for tesla. 🎉
A) all stocks are volatile, but some are more volatile than others.
B) never buy stocks with money you don’t have (borrowed), or money you need shortly.
C) evaluating *current* company results says nothing about the future.
D) only the boards strategic moves might indicate how future-save any investment is.
(Not just cars, geographically spreaded, dependencies on others)
E) trolls with deep pockets or long arms can do harm to any company.
F) politicians (foreign and domestic) are unreliable at best.
I can 3x my money by building properties. They also pay monthly. I'm still buying TSLA, as I believe it has an easy 10x in the next 5 years.

As a new investor i have a Serious question.......if you keep buying, when do you ACTUALLY make money to use/spend? It's all gains on paper and there's nothing to spend until you actually SELL 🤷
If you ask this question you are not yet an investor. You need a long term goal to invest. If you are worrying now when you can take profit, you do not yet understand the basics of investing. Investing is long term, so what do you want to do with your capital in 10-20 years and why? Dumb goals are not goals and will not keep you focused. It is a mindset, not the amount of money. Hope this helps abit.

I’ve been buying since March 2020 and have an average buy price of I think around 185ish per share and have 420 shares ;).
Problem is when I started I was still a server so I could only dump so much into it, but I make like triple what I was making then and still continue to dump into it.
FSD alone is worth trillions, and that’s just one part of the company. People can’t even comprehend the profit margins of software like FSD. I’d argue 35% of first world country drivers would pay 100$ a month for a subscription (I know it’s 200 or whatever). Based on that alone I’ll put Al my money into Tesla.
The only thing I’d ever buy instead would be space X and maybe neuralink, but they’re both private so no shot there.

Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi lowered his Tesla price target by $30 Tuesday, to $120 a share, while slashing his forecast for first-quarter deliveries by nearly 70,000 units to 426,000.
Quarter to date, "Tesla has experienced soft China/Europe demand and constrained U.S. Model 3 production,” Sacconaghi said. “Despite the stock’s underperformance year to date, we struggle to see a catalyst for Tesla. We expect tepid growth in 2024, as well as 2025, bringing into question the company’s growth narrative.”
But will holding Tesla for 20 years make money as a single stock? You mentioned sp500 but that's an index.
