After two days with my Model 3 refresh I completely adapted to the stalkless turn signaling, I never fumble them and it trains you to signal BEFORE you turn the wheel. You have to live with it to appreciate it, reviewing the car for an hour won't cut it.

I lived with the Model S with the yolk and buttons for 1,5 years, thinks it’s great. Lived with the refresh Model 3 for about a week and think it’s shit!! Works on the model s doesn’t work on the Model 3. The steering wheel is to small, the buttons are to small and the steering ratio is to high on the Model 3. Absolutely love it on my Model S. Driving them back to back as I’ve done just in force my opinion.

Anyone from the UK who actually drives should be familiar with the term "Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre" which Is (was? If not still, certainly should be) among the *Day 1* "rules to memorise" when learning to drive.
    .
Having spend decades on the road, I can attest that those 3 words are quite often applied *in the wrong order* .... Especially at roundabouts where the *UK Highway code* instructs us that....
    .
*When APPROACHING a roundabout* you should:
    Use the *mirror-signal-manoeuvre" process*
    (There it is!!)
Decide which exit you need to take as early as possible
*Use the appropriate signal at the optimal* time to inform other road users of your intentions
    .
Thats BEFORE you reach the roundabout.
The tesla system *trains* you to do that.
    .
Now.... Once *negotiating* the roundabout..... We have:
"When taking an exit to the right (left for US, etc) or going full circle (unless signs or markings indicate otherwise...
*Signal right and approach" the exit in the right hand lane ("Driver side lane")
Keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to reach your exit
Signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you intend to take"
    .
Let's consider that "beyond straight on" scenario.
    .
You approach (in a straight line)
Indicate (not "blink"... US education required😉) *before you reach the junction*
    .
    You enter the roundabou....
    Here's where the options change.
    .
    1) Multi lane, "larger" or "very large" roundabout.
If you THINK about it, your turn radius is not that tight.
Depending on that radius and the steering ration of the vehicle, your wheel shouldn't be turned more than 45°.
    Not a problem.
In fact, you will be straightening the wheel as you're ready to indicate.
    .
    Smaller, or "mini" roundabouts....
Normally only 4, sometimes only 3 "nodes" (3, or 2 "exits") designed for junction safety.
    *Single lane approach*
Nobody is trying to pass you on the roundabout, you're not moving across lanes while manouvering.
    .
    You *indicate ("Blink"😉) on approach*
It's OBVIOUS which exit youre taking, (it's the other exit, "after* "straight on)
Cars on the junctions you pass KNOW you're going to the "last" exit.
    .
There's no *time* to indicate between exits and you're gone before it affects cars joining at the "node" which you leave (plus the drivers saw you join and they know you're leaving, it takes 5 seconds to complete the whole procedure)
    .
    So the procedure is simply...
PLAN your actions, as you SHOULD, if you're paying attention (!)
    Use indicators AS APPROPRIATE.

I'm going to take this as confirmation of my long-held suspicion... that SMR does not even have a driver's license, let alone a vehicle. Even motorcycles don't have two separate turn signal controls, one on either side, so there's literally NO ONE IN THE WORLD who is "used to" using an arrangement like that. Anybody who actually *_drives_* on a regular basis would know this.

As a Model 3 owner with stalk turn signals and FSD, I recently drove a refreshed M3 with button turn signals and no FSD. I got use to the buttons in a day. However, I've also driven a Plaid S with "on screen" turn signals and I hated it. Buttons work way better in this case when you are trying to find them without looking, than on screen. I say this is a step backward for Tesla. I get what they're trying to do. FSD will put on the signal for you, etc., but Bro. Buttons are the way to go when you have to drive and can't turn on or wait for FSD.

We have owned our Tesla model Y for over four years and our model S for over two years. I would like to have someone that I can make some comments or suggestion to and maybe they will get back to Tesla.
First thing I would like to say is that My Teslas are not luxury cars. In order to be a luxury car I believe they should have handholds over each window to assist in getting in or out of the car. The car should also have the ability to close the door, the rest of the way in case it didn’t fully close I also think that the model Y doorhandle is extremely awkward to open from the outside.
On our model S, I really love the steering wheel. It makes the view looking out the windscreen so much better with no obstruction of the upper portion of the wheel. I agree with Jason that it really needs to have a blinker stock. I’ve only been driving with the blinker for 60 years. Now after driving with a little dinky buttons for two years, it is still difficult to operate. What is even worse you have to look away to find the button for a split second which is not safe. In addition to that it seems that I accidentally activate a blinker two or three times during every drive, just by getting my hand too close to the little dinky buttons. Another major flaw in the design is the horn button is not in the center of the wheel. It has always been that way in my 60 years of experience. It was something that was essentially perfect before and very easy to find without looking for it. I was involved in a minor fender bender when another vehicle backed into my car after I had backed out of a parking spot . If I could have found the button rapidly there would have been no damage to my car. Which incidentally was very minor yet still cost close to $4,000 to repair and the car was in the shop for 10 days.
I was in Palm Springs for a few days recently and rented a new Tesla model 3 at Avis. I was really very disappointed because the dealer should have done a number of things that would’ve made the experience much better. At this point in time I believe that someone renting a Tesla having never driven one will never be interested in going back and driving one again. It was all very difficult. I can only imagine how a first Tesla driver would have felt. More on that later.
Thanks for allowing me to vent,
    Tesla SY owner.

    • @paul88824
      @paul88824 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

Tesla claims they don’t provide handhold handles because there are side door airbags there.
The horn “button” thing is a little annoying. But if you play with the horn when there’s nobody around to object to the sound, you’ll probably find that an open palm hitting the right side of your steering wheel or yoke will trigger the sound. So no need to look for the horn button. Just smack the right side to the steering wheel hard when you need to honk.

I think that's why he always has/had a rub with the MT folks. 2. The signal stalk IS stupid. You gotta take the bad with the good. Nothing is 100% perfect. While some may like the new way to activate signals, I think the majority will NOT. They are F'ing with decades of ergonomic familiarity, and that hardly ever plays out well.

I’m sorry but I also do not like the Turn Signal Buttons on my Yoke at all. Aswell as the highbeam button and the horn button. And in fact they are no real buttons wich sometimes ends up in not knowing if I succsessfully pushed them or not. ( high beam buttom ) Living in Germany means you are allowed to drive fast on the Autobahn. And with 1020 horses you actually end up doing that sometimes. When you go fast you need to flash your light sometimes to show people that they did not recognize you coming that fast overtaking them on the left lane when they start moving over to that lane. Them being at a much lower speed and not paying any attention what happens behind them. The use of the high beam button in this Moments just takes too much time and makes me look off the road. Also driving in roundabouts is a brain pain to using the turnsignals. Yes I do know that when the stearing wheel is turned 180 up is down and down ist up so the arrow pointing left is the right turn signal and the arrow pointing right is… bla bla. In the end I do have to think about it, wich I did not when I was able to use stalks. There it was just muscle memory and now I end up not using them sometimes because it just sucks at that moments. Wich is not fair to the othersThe Horn is now back at the center wich maked totally sense in my view. I do play Video Games every day on a PS5 and I drive the Model X Plaid now for 1 Year and 4 month. I love my yoke, took my a few weeks to get comfortable with it, but I still not like the turnsignals, the horn and the high beams „buttons“ on it. Sometimes time is a big issue in order of safety and the second I have to look and search for the exact location of the button on my yoke is just too much. I do like the clean look so but look is not everything in this case.
I love my tesla but I am totally with Jason at this matter and I wanted to share my opinion. And It is just my opinion. If some people like it, it’s fine with me but I don’t understand it. 😂 Would love to get some Bluetooth stalks that I could link to the actions.

I don’t know what are the rules in the US or Australia but in Europe you are required to signal changing lanes in a roundabout and also entering and exiting the roundabout. When driving in a straight line the buttons are semi-decent, you can get used to them, but signaling when the steering wheel is turned like in a roundabout is almost impossible. I have the car for a month now (model 3 standard range) and I just quit signaling in roundabouts, I hope I won’t get a fine. Everything else about the car is spectacular, I love it. It’s OK to be e Tesla fan, and a Tesla investor, which I am, but also admit when they make stupid decisions. This was one, for now. Maybe in the future it will make sense but for now it’s plain unsafe in roundabouts.

@@thefish5861 Thans for pointing out. I'm getting a bit confused, I'm switching on a permanent base between English, German, French, Dutch and Norwegian. A mistake is made rather easy then. Will not happen again.

How many sales does tesla loose because they made the stupid no turn signal choice? They came up way short on sales time to bend over for the customers screaming at you to put turn signals in

An E46 BMW M3 was the last gas car I owned before buying 4 Tesla’s for my household in the last 11 years, and the only way I’d go back to BMW is if they made an all-electric equivalent of an M3. Tesla beat BMW to it!

I gotta agree with my boat to turn signals. I think this is stupid. They should be able to do better.

those turn signal buttons are garbage, I am with him. You can't compare that to blackberry. That would be like if the iPhone started including a stylus pen to type.
