Picked up this omega today. My first high end watch. Been saving for a very long time.
On the way out i spotted an iwc387903 and tried it on.
I loved it and i gotta say it looks soo much better in person. Photos make it look kind of dull in my opinion but wow it was incredible.
Im new to this watch world but ive loved and been drawn to watches ever since i was about 6 years old.
My grandmother used to tell me i used to ask to see everyones watch when i was a little boy.
    Very happy with my purchase

BrightSparkling@Soul it is much more comfortable but definitely not as good looking. The way the bracelet tappers on the Rolex is so much more attractive. The nine piece on the SMP is garbage how it’s intermittently polished on the links. Lame O yes more comfortable though but not buy much. I got the new titanium Bond bracelet for mine. Love it way more now !!

I tried the blue and black one on a few weeks ago and they are both stunning. It has the flavour of the original Seamaster but also feels super modern and super premium. I think Bruce is right about it being a equivalent to the sub for a much better price. I would rather have the Omega over the Rolex personally now it’s that good. The best watch at this price point by a mile 👍🏼

Manuel TP good choice 👍🏼 I’m getting a blue one ☝️ I’ve always wanted a sub too but they are now over priced and over rated. They are a bit boring too. Omega have really taken things to a new level with this new Seamaster 👍🏼

    • @jimmyjay122
      @jimmyjay122 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

And I thought I was the only on who found the sub boring and even insignificant on my wrist... I never got the so called “understated” aesthetic of the Sub and Rolex in general for that matter. They just never did anything for me and I was never able to bring myself to buy one.
I would choose the Omega over Rolex any day even they were priced the same.

Had an original bond Seamaster Professional I bought new in 2002. Serviced it twice over its lifespan and that watch served me well. Thought about replacing it but flat out did not care for the non wave dial of the 2011-2017 model. I saw this at an AD last weekend and couldn’t get it off my mind. Went in today and secured a 20% discount and pulled the trigger. I feel like I got an updated and massively improved replacement for old reliable. Every single feature is better. The features, attention to detail and the build quality are at least on-par with Rolex and the price is less than half. Plus... I can have one without smooching up to an AD who wants me to prove myself worthy by stepping through the purchase of lesser models and a ring, bracelet or earrings in the cases on the other side of the store. I am scratching that itch for nostalgia for the older version (and my first fine timepiece) while getting cutting edge technology and quality. As my sone would say.. “It’s dope!”.the dial is a quantum leap in the beauty department. I can scarcely take my eyes off of it when the sun plays on the gloss blue surface, the precision laser cut wave pattern and the jewel-like sparkle of the hands and applied markers (which were just dollops of lume paint on the old one) . Aside from the overall aesthetic and design elements there is NO comparison between these watches. Oh.. yeah.. and move over glidelock.. the Omega ratcheting micro-adjust just ate your lunch. Couldn’t be more pleased

I got it for 50th birthday, it’s even more beautiful in live . I love the size and the finish of the watch, I love the fact that has one barrel. Of course it would look better without the helium crown but then it wouldn’t be “ original seamaster “ . I only wish it was 22mm lug and tapered down to 20 . It is very comfortable to wear . Great review .

So when Tudor released the Black Bay it took the watch community by storm. I love the BB because I have one but frankly this new Seamaster is off the charts in every way and in my opinion demands attention from all who are watch enthusiasts. I saw it in person and it literally blew me away, it punches so far above it's weight. I have to say that it's ridiculous that Omega has marked it at what they have because it easily contends and frankly beats the Sub in almost all levels. Yes I've ordered this version and can't wait for it to arrive.

There is nothing to be torn in between. This is absolutely a handsome timepiece, much better than the previous model aesthetically. It is also technically superior in movement, quality and finishing as well as choice of new materials like the glossy ceramic bezel insert and fantastic laser-etched wave dial. What's there to be torn in between? It's just that straightforward, dude. Why are you hesitating unnecessarily?

  • @CtFshd1812

I think aside from desk diving, the reason the jump hour was not implemented here was mainly due to the design purpose. The aquaterra in 41mm was designed for the sailor on the teak deck of his yatch, much more likely to be jumping timezones than the professional which is geared more as a diving tool. The lack of the jump hour also allows the movement to be less complex with less that can go wrong.
Now as to why the 38mm aquaterras also do not have that jump hour, it might be due to the movement being smaller? Needs confirmation, but might also explain it as I would expect a 300m tool diver to have beefier case sides than a 150m sport-casual watch.

Really thinking on pulling the trigger on this watch. AD here in Qatar has a promotion... Pay retail and get 50% store credit back. Jewelry branch also is AD for Longines where I can use the credit towards. They have the Master GMT Moonphase for about $800. Technically, I could get two Longines with the purchase of a Seamaster. If I can get the Blue Dial Blue L27934920 and the GMT Moonphase L2.673.4.78.3 Longines with the purchase of a Seamaster, I think it is a no brainier .

Omega must consider overhauling the current bracelet and/or offering an HEV-free Seamaster. The bracelet is very 90's looking and the HEV is just an eyesore. Some of the Uncle Seiko bracelets made for the Seamaster knock the stock bracelet out of the park. The bracelet is the main drawback stopping me from seriously considering this watch as a future purchase.

Tried the Black 1 as last resort and that was the nr1 by a long shot . The black is stunning and try each watch on your own wrist , just because it does look good on pic or people tell you , doesn't mean it does in real .

My dream sport watch would be this one at 39 or 40 mm, no helium valve (non-divers don't use it and real divers use a digital watch), and no date. I think if the crown was placed at the 4 o'clock it would sit better on the wrist... instead of callusing the back of your had. Just my opinions. I think the Rolex bracelets oyster and jubilee both look better, but I hear this has the better clasp. It must be hard for their design team, always having to compare their choices against the Rolex Sub... feeling like they have to constantly differentiate as to not be confused with an homage.
