    Had this for dinner myself, didn’t marinate the steaks beforehand, but I did let them warm up to room temp about an hour and a half. Cook the steaks in the cast-iron skillet on high heat and cook the mushrooms in the same pan. Turned out to be the best steak I ever ate

    I noted your shout-out to the Koda apron folks and decided to look into them. I bought one of their aprons and I love it. I don't like the chafing around my neck of a traditional apron if I'm wearing a t-shirt. The suspender-type rig is not only great from that point of view, but the straps lace through grommets on either side which allows you to adjust how high or low you would like the bib to sit on your "front porch". The overall fit is great and the materials are first-rate. Thank you for featuring this brand.

      RY I just purchased a new Old Country Brazos Smoker, it's a full .25" heavy plate steel , and is about 600 lbs in weight.. Now I have way to many grills and smokers. The one is on a 500 gallon propane tank and two axle trailer. I'm giving it to the church I belong to. A month ago I purchased a new Komado Joe XL, and absolutely love it. If ever you come to the east coast of Florida, I'd be honored to take you fishing.
      Hope you have a blessed weekend and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

    I love flat iron steak done on the grill. Very few people I know had any idea this cut of meat existed. I fear I have turned too many friends and family onto flat iron steak. It has gone up considerably in price and is more scarce since the C-19 started. I am hard core rib eye guy but a good flat iron steak grill properly like you did in this video is pretty damn good too! Thanks for great video. Cheers....

    Awesome, only thing is I do not add salt to marinade for 18 hours. I take out 6 hrs before cook time are as salt to rub. This avoids to much loss of natural juices while grilling. Not a chef but 50+ years of grilling this long of steak.

  • @sw01ller

    had flat iron for the first time today, i made it with chunky chips (im from the uk, chips are like fat fries, so, chunky, fat fries!!! (what you call chips, we call crisps, completely different)) and garlic mushrooms. Extremely tasty steak, ive had better ribeye but this is a lovely cut too. Mine were a lot smaller than yours but still, great flavour and it melts in your mouth due to the type of grain.

    • @tritontransport
      @tritontransport ปีที่แล้ว

      Try skirt steak sometime. I think it’s the best steak cut that there is. Better than ribeye or strip steak. Slice it against the grain just like flat iron steak.

    love that marinade. that apron is like Kryptonite for your super power. lol!! got a question?? i know you have a charcoal basket for your oklahoma joes, what would you think about using the vortex in the fire box?? filling it up with coals and using a few lit coals on the side to burn slowly across? Steaks look amazing!

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure the Vortex would do much in the firebox since I'm burning mostly wood. I've used it like you said in the kettle many times, just lighting a few coals on one side to extend the burn :)

      Being a Texan I am a fan of all peppers. Smoked poblanos are amazing alone but stuff them with a good marinade skirt steak and they are yummmmmm. Not always a cheese fan but a good smoked cheese sauce drizzled on top kills it.

    I’m trying to understand the need for gloves. Why not simply wash your hands every now and then? You have to wash your gloved hand(s) anyway.

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've answered this question about a hundred times. I have to constantly adjust up to five cameras, lights, microphones, and if I had to wash my hands every time I had to do that, and dry them, it would take me WAYYYYY longer to film a video. Snapping on a fresh pair of gloves takes three seconds.

    • @emmgeevideo
      @emmgeevideo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cooking With Ry Thanks for the 101st answer. I’m an enthusiastic watcher of TH-cam cooking channels. I’ve never heard a presenter ever comment on this on-camera or in the comments. In these days of Coronavirus and even heightened concerns about “cross-contamination” from things like handling raw chicken, when you see something as ubiquitous as presenters wearing gloves you have to wonder - Am I missing something? Should I be wearing gloves?
