Since Emperor Palpatine will be making his big return in Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker, we thought we’d take a look at the last time we saw the big bad guy on the big screen - in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. This third movie in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy certainly raises a ton of questions. Like what’s up with nobody realizing that Palpatine is the evil Darth Sidious? Why did Yoda go hang out with Chewbacca and the Wookies? Why was it so easy to convince Anakin to turn completely to the Dark Side and murder younglings? Why was this trilogy even made?

The real reason Luke gets brought to Tatooine is because it’s full of sand and Anakin hates sand

be fair childbirth is pretty tough to begin with so when someone is that fucked up in the head it can have actual negative implications for the body. Moral is important. Our bodies respond to what our mind are going through.

@@ayushmanrajawat2828 it literally makes zero sense since force heal is a light side skill and there's literally nothing threatening Padme's health before Anakin literally chokes her. People have to admit the prequels had cool choreography and art design, but the writing was bad.

In Episode I, Obi-wan and Maul were indoors. Hence, it wasn't "high ground." It was "high floor."

Actually, it's just that Obi Wan doesn't need to be ON the high ground. So long as there is high ground around, he is unstoppable. Where did he fight Vader in Episode IV? A completely flat and level surface.
Trivia: the reason why Anakin goes from super-conflicted to not caring about murdering kids in one second is because Lucas rewrote half the script halfway through the shooting process: originally Anakin turned to get more power and was not conflicted at all. Half of the Anakin scenes (the later ones) were already shot when he changed the entire motivation to "saving Padmé". Which means that up to being christened Vader, he just wants to save her, is super-conflicted and is faking powerlust for Palpatine; then as soon as he rises he was evil all along and just did it for more power.
Using scenes that don't fit in the movie just because you already shot them is tight!

I heard a theory about the high ground thing recently that I thought was cool. The idea was that he was shocked the thing with Maul worked, and he's had nightmares ever since, reliving exactly what Maul should have done to wreck him as he did the jump. And he knew Anakin so well, he knew he would make the same reckless move, so the whole appeal at the end for Anakin not to try it bc Obi Wan had the high ground was bc he had relived it so much he knew for sure that it would be over right there. Wild

I just realized that Palpatine told Anakin that he could stop Padme from dying as a way to lure him to the dark side, then the first thing he told him after he woke up as Darth Vader is that Padme died.

The sending Luke to be raised on Tatooine is actually a good thing as Darth Vader hates it there.
No Pity Yeah, explained as how the planet is too painful a wound for him. Yet in Disney lore he's cool setting up home on the planet where his wife "died" and he was horribly mutilated by his best friend. Badass but also kind of inconsistent.

How the hell can someone decide to go with "Count Dooku" as the main reference for a character when "Darth Tyranus" was an available option. Every time I hear the name it just sounds like Count Poopydoodoo and instantly kills any respect I could have possibly had for him.
Not to mention it's like Count Duke. General Admiralu and King Emperu must have been taken.
I think that term for poo is an Americanism. As an Englishman, I can honestly say I've never understood why I've heard some Americans say that about him. We don't have that slang term. So it's just a normal name to me.
Darth Tyranus actually sounds worse to me. It sounds like a bastardisation of tyrannosaurus, like he was trying to come up with a name that sounded big and scary, but ended with something that sounds childish.
@@Pro_Butcher_Amateur_Human Well I dunno, I'm neither (english isn't my first language) and I still instantly think "Count Dookie" when I hear it, and imagine something like the poop emoji in a dark cape. But I do agree with you on the childish aspect of Tyranus and that they could have definitely come up with a much better "Darth name" for him as well, but now that it is what it is I just feel it still sounds quite a far stretch more intimidating than Dooku, which to my ears carries an intimidation factor of about zero. It is a shame though that they kinda screwed him over so badly on both names considering what a badass character he is.
Count Dooku is reference to Count Dracula, the most famous Christopher Lee's role.

I see people bending over backwards to explain this point, but the truth is that it's just not a good argument in a movie series where gravity is routinely defied by those with great power and little power.

Lucas had three whole movies to have Anakin turn, and he has the entire turn last about three seconds, immediately after he kills Mace.

I don’t think you got the point of the turn. I’m not saying it was executed well but the point was that Anakin turns to the dark side on a choice: save Mace or Palpatine. And Anakin feels he needs Palpatine to save Padme so he makes his choice. It’s meant to mirror when Vader turns back into the light side in Return of the Jedi. Vader has to choose between Luke and Palpatine. And he chose Luke.
i would say that if you really think about it, when he kills Mace that wasn't actually him 'turning'. It was a giant step, but not fully. As other have mentioned, he felt he had to choose Palps over Mace. But what is often overlooked is the discussion Palps and Anakin have soon after, where Palps straight up tells him 'the Jedi are going to kill us'. This means Anakin literally has to choose between living and dying. In that moment, he had to choose between himself and others. And he chose himself. His own self-interests. This is something he was prone to doing in the previous films, not always, but quite frequently. It's just that with Lucas directing the nuance of the scene went over like a needle in a haystack. Unseen.
His first true dabble in the Dark Side was when he killed the tusken raiders. He was conflicted about everything, he had a lot of resentment for the Jedi Order by the Third Movie, you just never decided to notice

I think the reason Anakin became evil so fast is that Palpatine told him not to hesitate so the dark side would be stronger and he felt like he needed the Darkside to save Padme, the thing that doesn't make sense is his sudden lust for power. It was hinted in Attack of the clones but nothing as extreme as ruling an empire and taking over the galaxy.

David Curry Nah..she was really very sick but covered it up for long time. You can tell in the documentary that she was really barely making it. That's why Carrie did the documentary. Personally, I think Carrie was really not wanting to go on without her mom.

No. It's simply an oversight by the script writers, who confused a principle about entire armies in combat, vs two guys with swords. The high ground especially doesn't make sense in a movie like SW, because everyone flips and jumps everywhere, routinely defying the purpose of the 'high ground' principle.

I never understood why they forced all the characters into the 'New Hope' starting positions at the end. Why? Doesn't 'A New Hope' take place like, 20 years later? Surely a lot can happen in 20 years.
Exactly. Its kinda weird. Just like how at the start of every star wars movie we're always like "ok, how much time has passed, where is everyone now, etc..." Except from 7 to 8 because of how 7 was left off.
Always irked me too and even more so where Padme is concerned as she needn't have died at all until a later time frame. Leia says in ROTJ that she remembers her mother, her real mother.
