    I have an Oso, I live in Phoenix and don't have the pedal strike issue you're talking about on even the chunkiest of trails. It's never stood out to me as a problem. I've set a few top 10's on some blue and black trails near me, the bike is fast! And I think it DOES carry its speed very well! All that said, I'm excited about moving on to a Wild..

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Does not carry speed as good as as say Yeti, or firmer suspension type. Maybe they changed the crank arms or I had a different bike. Regardless it’s $30 for 155 cranks and all e-bikes should have those anyway

      Yeah I’ve ridden one too in some very gnarly terrain and not had one pedal strike

    Have almost 1700 miles on my Oso since late '22. Overall love it. Lights came off right away. Always run Assagais. Pedal strikes are real! Can't count how many times I thought I broke a toe! Switching to Hope 155s. After initial battery adjustment, no more rattles. MTX pads over stick Shimanos. And now the MSRP is $3k less. Oh, love the "Forest Service Green", too.

      Nice on the battery rattle fix 😎. I thought I was crazy after reading other comments, but you agree all the way around thanks for comment

      How did you fix the rattle?

    • @thecyclesaint
      @thecyclesaint 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Scott-mu4xw took the battery mount kit off, applied Loc-Tite, and reinstalled. While the battery was out, also make sure that the internal Bosch cable runs were secured with an extra few layers of 3M tape. Only noise since has been from the Bosch motor bearings, but this is common to all CX motors and gets less noticeable over time.

    I got one of these on super discount over a year ago, and every time I get mad about how much the rear end flexes I come back and watch this video and forget about my worries. I did get smaller crank arms and a real bombproof rear carbon wheel. Thing rips here in CO but damn that BB is still so low.

    Why do you prefer the large over the x large? I’m 6’ 2” and typically ride xl

      XL can me such a wide range, look at the reach of the Oso in XL. Reach is 550 or something
      Smaller ebike is more fun.

    After three years I finally bought one and I can tell you this is the best e-bike I have bought so far, an absolutely amazing bike, I have the color lavender and have already converted it with orange Hope cranks and orange stem and orange Hope hubs are also coming on it !!!

    Im seriously considering this as my first emtb but Curious about the pedal strike issue. I currently ride a Santa Cruz Bronson V3 (full 27.5, identical 340 mm bb height, 1252 mm wheelbase in XL). It is also low , and I hit the bb sometimes, but no issue with pedal strikes with 170 mm cranks. I do have to pay attention to timing, but I’ve bern riding a long time and pretty good at timing my pedals. I expect the longer wheelbase will give me a bit less breakover angle, but do you think the Oso will really be any worse than my Bronson? Im think it could go two ways- wither yes bc of the extra weight and extra length in wheelbase, or no the issue is it is low compared to other ebikes (which all seem to have higher bbs than analog mtbs).

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t let the pedal strike issue stop you. The 155 cranks are $30. 10 mil longer fork would fix it as well. The bike has allot of flex. I am 220 lb a average rider. If I was - excellent rider at that weight it would be a noddle. I had to swap my stronger wheel in. Frustrating to spend $7000 on a bicycle and then have to change things but that’s how it usually goes.

      @@OtterMTBtech thanks man. I’m trying to demo one this weekend but looks like we’re gonna get rained out. I rode one around a parking lot at my LBS but if can’t demo this weekend will try to see if I can get that one on the trails to see how I feel about the flex. Im 205-210 lbs so on the heavier side also. Flex is a funny thing- can be good, can be bad. Depends on what is flexing and how that affects what the bike does and how it feels. Based on your vid it seems like good flex, but will have to see. Agree on that Dissector btw- but hey, at least they put DD tires. So many are putting Exo+ or worse yet Exo tires on emtbs which to me just seems criminal unless it’s like a 35 lb emtb. Funny you went Assagai rear- I recently put on on rear out of necessity during a trip when I shredded my DHR2 and it was all I had but have fallen in love with back there. So much climbing grip. I have cleaned a couple of climbs I used to spin out on. I think Assegai in DD is a perfect rear tire for an enduro emtb.

    • @OtterMTBtech
      @OtterMTBtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well put. Flex is not the enemy for sure. I like the 36 mm fork, but DH Assegai front and rear is ideal for big boys in the rocks

      @@TheExcursioners shop.fullspeedahead.com/en/prodotti_1/fsa-ck-220-is-armset. HMM ISS is the name of the crank type and its pretty universal fitment for most bikes execpt Shimano. Ask them what did not fit, it s a 8mm self extracting bolt to replace them not to technical, but does take allot of force
