We have an Amish village in western Kansas, called Yoder. They have a quilt shop, clock shop, general store, hardware store, restaurant, and meat packing plant and butcher shop. The restaurant has like 20 kinds of home made pies. I wish you could have secretly filmed your Amish shop. They are such fascinating people. Wonderful horse trainers too! Love your videos! Oh, Mary, I love what you created on your front porch. It's so welcoming and cozy. You have such a gift for creating warm and inviting spaces. And so many precious little touches, like the tray with the tartan insert, and the lantern with the candle, and the hanging lights. It's so lovely.
Beautiful space. Mary, that metal holder brings back an old fond memory. Being Canadian, I had bought one just like it on a trip to Lake Placid, NY some 40ish years ago. It was wrought iron with a matching wall bracket. It was quite heavy and I had an oil lamp in it and it was absolutely gorgeous and unique in a log cabin I used to own. Thing is, when the cabin was put up for sale a few years later, the buyer insisted the holder had to stay in the cabin. He had fallen in love with it as I did.
I love my turkey pillow cover and since a flock of them continues to walk through my yard twice each day and I can not leave the house it seems without having to stop at least once while another flock crosses the road somewhere (and they are never in a hurry to move) I am going to keep my cover out for a while longer. :) I love how in this video you re-use/re-purpose a lot of things you already have

Very warm and inviting. I love all of the natural elements. Winds at our house get so bad that this year I bought 80lb test fishing line to 'tie things down' like the throws on our chair's, you name it! The nice thing is that it's so strong yet virtually invisible and last night we were tested with 50 mph winds! Sucess! Your porch is lovely!!!!

I would say though, that a little touch of red and green plaid, maybe in a ribbon around that tall pot that you have the smaller pine tree in? I love the red green and cream plaid. It would add just a little touch of color. Other than that, I absolutely love the look!

Gosh Mary, watching you fix up the porch was enjoyable. I recall 30 years ago I also had the energy to go to one thing then another sprucing up our house ready for winter...what fun! Thanks for letting me tag along with you!!
FERNS need humidity so keep away from heater vents, etc. but in bright light and rotate it so it doesn't get one sided. You can always cut it down and repot/refresh the soil in spring and it will come back lushly. For those bales of soil--I use a cheap "GINZU" knife, with long blade and handle, to cut into it to break it up roots and hard packed soil. also useful when repotting, shaving overgrown rootballs, dividing perennials, etc. They really DO cut through anything! Looking at your finished porch, I LOVE the fact its not full of red bows and glitter. a VERY natural and gentle effect.
This is why you place inside and outside looks soooooo fabulous.... You work so hard and put in the time doing it.....we can only aspire to be a quarter good as you!!!!!!!

this week my dryer,stove and furnace stopped working.all so old like us.very expensive week for us.thankfully they expedited my furnace install so we r warm again..stove coming on monday.dont have to cook this yr. picked up turkey dinners from our local grocery store for my family. i was very stressed and i thought of your calming voice and thnk u very much for making me feel better. i luv your voice

Your use of existing items (& thrifted pieces) and repurposing items is extraordinary. I think people buy stuff and keep it the same and keep buying new. I wouldn’t have wanted to add a seasonal design to the wood planter, but why not? Yeah it all looks very cool.

We rent a townhouse and are blessed to have a covered patio that overlooks a golf course so the view is delightful. My husband and I are out there year round. We bought heated blankets to wrap around us which makes it extra toasty enjoy the view and fresh air.

Some home made or hand crafted decorations to adorn the outdoor trees would be nice ( in white) and some fairy lights twinkling in the trees. Breath taking!! Love it !

FERNS need humidity so keep away from heater vents, etc. but in bright light and rotate it so it doesn't get one sided. You can always cut it down and repot/refresh the soil in spring and it will come back lushly. For those bales of soil--I use a cheap "GINZU" knife, with long blade and handle, to cut into it to break it up roots and hard packed soil. also useful when repotting, shaving overgrown rootballs, dividing perennials, etc. They really DO cut through anything!
Looking at your finished porch, I LOVE the fact its not full of red bows and glitter. a VERY natural and gentle effect.
This is why you place inside and outside looks soooooo fabulous.... You work so hard and put in the time doing it.....we can only aspire to be a quarter good as you!!!!!!!

this week my dryer,stove and furnace stopped working.all so old like us.very expensive week for us.thankfully they expedited my furnace install so we r warm again..stove coming on monday.dont have to cook this yr. picked up turkey dinners from our local grocery store for my family. i was very stressed and i thought of your calming voice and thnk u very much for making me feel better. i luv your voice

Your use of existing items (& thrifted pieces) and repurposing items is extraordinary. I think people buy stuff and keep it the same and keep buying new. I wouldn’t have wanted to add a seasonal design to the wood planter, but why not? Yeah it all looks very cool.

Mary, your porch is lovely and simple and cozy! Winter perfection. We live just north of you in North Canton. We rent a townhouse and are blessed to have a covered patio that overlooks a golf course so the view is delightful. My husband and I are out there year round. We bought heated blankets to wrap around us which makes it extra toasty enjoy the view and fresh air.
