    Hi Janet! Just made this for my family last night and it was a hit! I have been keto for 2 years now but we just discovered that my husband is allergic to Almonds so I am having to find new keto recipes that are nut free which is not as easy as i thoughtit would be...       @@becksbitofblue Without the almond skin, almonds are much easier to deal with. Almond flour is blanched (no skin). Very healthy for those without allergies to them.

    I wonder if you add a couple teaspoons of nutritional yeast if that might make it taste more like traditional pizza dough. It doesn’t rise but has lots of nutrients and tastes great.

    I am just starting to experiment with keto breads and baking and I made my first loaf of bread yesterday. It came out pretty good and this pizza dough recipe will be my next effort.     This was a hit 🎉 kids liked the taste and it didn’t taste like coconut. We did add a teaspoon of instant dry yeast for flavor.

      Also we were short one egg so we added a tablespoon of powder gelatin and a little water. Worked just fine.

    Coconut Flour has a strong after taste...which I love in sweet bakery, however on savory you must add Baking Soda to negate the after taste.. probably a spoon to the dough would help neutralize the after taste .Its a slippery sloop .If you add too much Soda the taste becomes unbearable.

      @@coolroy4300 like I said it's a math calculating how much to negate the after taste VS not over dosing cause it has terrible taste. In the end I just stick with cauliflower or almnd flour both I find have great tastes. The one I yet to try is Lupin flour I heard it's great

    Ppl who have to use these ingredients already know that this isn’t going to taste like your good ol newyork pizza. We have to use these ingredients bc of our allergies to certain foods.
    I just want to say I appreciate this channel a lot. While I like almond flour, it’s more expensive than coconut so I like the option of recipes that are nut free. I already have accepted it’s going to taste different than what I grew up eating. Thanks for your sharing the fruit of your labors in the kitchen.

    I subbed cottage cheese with melted butter. My crust was crumbly and thick. I baked it for 30 minutes tho and it tasted very coconut for me. I am mostly not succesfull with coconut flour based recipes in savory recipes

    I appreciate this low carb pizza recipe a ton! I just made it for my husband and son for dinner and I think we’re so used to gluten pizza dough that it will be something we will have to get used to. It turned out beautifully and just like yours but I think the crust is so different that we will have to adjust. My son went back for seconds though! He didn’t hesitate!
    Ps. I also wanted to add that since cooking with coconut flour it has been a finicky process for sure. It’s definitely an acquired flour! I think since my recent change to low carb that almond flour is my favorite to use and more like a regular flour texture. I wonder if you could make this recipe with that instead?

      This recipe would not work with almond flour. Coconut flour is super absorbent and acts completely different than almond flour. However I do have some pizza crust recipes using almond flour. Check out my "Quick Gluten Free Pizza Crust" video or my "Fluffy Low Carb Pizza Crust" video. The "Fluffy Low Carb Pizza Crust" is not keto or gluten free but it is lower in carbs than traditional pizza crust.

    Looked very nice, Driest crust I ever had. So dry we couldn't taste the the tomato sauce even tried dipping in a bowl of sauce. Again so dry.

    I only ate half the pizza and threw the rest away. I don't think anything made with mostly coconut flour tastes good but it is good for an addictive to keep baked goods from being too thin and moist .

    I wonder if you've tried adding phyllisium (?) husk to this. Maybe, 1-2 Tbsp of whole husk mixed with water until it's gelled up and then add everything to that? What do you think?

      You can use psyllium husk or psyllium husk powder. If you do you'll need to omit the xanthan gum or your dough might be too sticky

      Unfortunately coconut flour cannot be substituted with any other flour. It is very absorbent and requires a lot more liquid and binders than other flours. You would have to reduce the liquid and binding agent by quite a bit in this recipe for it to work

    Good recipe --- but your pizza sauce was missing just one key ingredient that officially makes it 'pizza sauce'...a bit of olive oil (a tablespoon or a bit less).

    Is it possible to freeze the pizza crust? Would I have to bake it for a few minutes then cool then freeze? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

      @@toandiloya585 The cooked pizza can be frozen. I wouldn't freeze the uncooked pizza dough. The coconut flour would most likely absorb the moisture and the dough would be very dry when thawed

    I love the concept, but do you have a similar recipe that is dairy free? Vegan cheese doesn’t melt the same way.

      To make the crust dairy free you can substitute the eggs with flax or chia eggs and the butter with margarine, coconut oil or any butter substitute. If using flax or chia eggs be sure to let the dough sit at least 5 minutes before shaping. You can top the pizza and stuff the crust with whatever you choose.

      It's a binder that is used in gluten free baking. Gluten helps hold ingredients together. Coconut flour doesn't contain gluten so it needs extra binders

      The xanthan gum is necessary to get the right texture. The xanthan gum acts as a binding agent without it you run the risk of the the crust crumbling on you. If you do not have xanthan gum you can try using psyllium husk powder. If you do you'll have to use twice as much psyllium husk powder and possibly a little more warm water. I hope this helps

      No almond flour can not be used instead of coconut flour. Coconut flour is very absorbent and reacts very differently. Check out my "Gluten Free Keto Pizza Crust" If you'd like one made with almond flour. I will say this coconut flour recipe is my favorite pizza crust

      You can freeze the pizza once it is baked. If you freeze the raw dough it will most likely dry out because coconut flour absorbs a lot of moisture

      I just added the nutritional information to the written recipe. Basically there are 2.9 grams of fat, 2 grams of protein, 2 grams of carbs and 0.95 grams of fiber for 1 slice. I usually cut the pizza into 8 slices

    I don't have (never used before) zantham gum, can I do it without and it work?

      You can use gelatin powder or very fine flaxseed meal as a substitute for xanthan gum. You can try this without the xanthan gum, but the dough will lack stretch. The xanthan gum keeps the dough flexible, so it won't tear when you stuff the crust

      Unfortunately all coconut flour breads have a slight coconut flour taste however adding yeast and dried herbs helps tone it down quite a bit

      The crust can be frozen after it is baked. Uncooked coconut flour dough does not freeze well because it keeps absorbing moisture and will dry out

    I have yet to find a keto pizza crust made without cheese for a tomato pie. would you except this challenge?

      Check out my "Quick Gluten Free Pizza Crust" recipe it does not have cheese. If you want a completely dairy free recipe including no eggs, check out my "Quick 5 Ingredient Keto Coconut Flour Bread/Buns". Add some dry Italian seasoning to it and it makes a great dairy free pizza crust

      You can leave the xanthan gum out but it may effect the texture. The xanthan gum helps with binding the ingredients and also gives the ability to be able to stretch

      I wouldn't advise skipping it. The purpose pf the xanthan gum is to give the dough flexibility and bind the ingredients together. Without it your dough could be a little stiff and crumbly. If you don't have xanthan gum you can use psyllium husk powder or ground flax seed.

    Hi Ms. Janet, thank you your receipt it’s really good. Question? I saw the macros on your written recipe. Would you confirm you have the correct macros? I use Carb Manager app and for some reason is giving way more calories, fats an all I just wanna make sure. Thank you

      The carb manager app most likely is giving you the nutritional information based on the entire recipe. My nutritional information is based on serving size which in this case is one slice

    Made it, and it was a total disaster. In no way does it taste or mimic pizza dough. Wasted a fortune in ingredients.

    This was without a doubt the worst pizza crust I have ever tasted, out of all the fast food, frozen, and homemade pizza I have ever tried. The consistency is close to a shortbread cookie - already way off from what you want with a pizza, but on top of that, the coconut flour gives it a mildly sweet and strongly coconut taste. The result is pretty much just slapping pizza toppings on a coconut-flavoured shortbread cookie - really fucking disgusting. I had to just peel the toppings off and eat those so that it wouldn't be a total waste, as I couldn't stomach more than a whole slice with that nasty crust. Certainly won't be trying any of her other recipes if this is what she thinks is good food.

      Although I am grateful to the author for the recipe, I also have to thank you for (based on what I have read) the only negative comment. It is actually more helpful than all these positive comments because you described what you didn't like about the crust. Based on my experience with coconut+eggs recipes and on your comment, I am sure I too wouldn't like this recipe.

    Bless you for this recipe, but everyone remember! Too much saturated fat on a keto diet will raise ldl cholesterol risking heart disease. I recommend relearning the dangers of a keto diet. One love

      I recommend you do more research and stop regurgitating your Stone Age doctors misinformation. They are wrong about cholesterol. No proof tying cholesterol to heart disease. Pure garbage science. After 3 weeks on keto I’m off my blood pressure meds - been on them 10 years. Perfect 120 or less over 75-80. Take that pill pusher. Dropped 15 lbs and was barely overweight. Doctors think you can’t prevent type 2 diabetes. They’re wrong. Keto can and does. Insulin resistance from a carb heavy diet (recommended by your idiot Dr.) is the root cause of basically everything.
