    One of the most basic keto recipes you should learn how to make is Fathead Dough. In fact, just hearing the words Fat Head Pizza probably triggers mild drooling and hunger pangs in some people. It’s that good! Why is this keto pizza crust so good? Well... because it is made up of mostly fat - cheese to be precise. The combination of mozzarella and almond flour yield a dense, crispy pizza crust packed full of flavor.
    There are many variations of fathead dough out there, but this one is my favorite probably because it resembles a true bread dough the most. I found it from @Keto.copy (who I follow on instagram). You can visit her website here: www.ketocopy.com
    Fathead pizza dough doesn’t take very long to prepare. The ingredient list is fairly short and you can be eating keto pizza in no time. It’s a perfect quick keto pizza option for busy weeknights or weekend movie nights. One of our family traditions is to make pizzas and watch videos on Friday nights with the boys. Each kid gets to add their own toppings to their own mini fat head pizza.
    Besides pizza crust, the keto dough is actually a universal pastry dough in the keto community. We have used it as the breading for bagel dogs, breadsticks, hamburger buns, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, and crackers. I’m sure you could come up with a Fat Head Raspberry Strudel if you desired. Just be sure to omit the garlic powder and italian seasonings.
    Because we love pizza and use the fat head dough for other low carb foods, we always double, triple….even quadruple the batch when we make it. The dough freezes nicely in a ball or you can roll in out into a thin crust first, flash freeze it, then wrap with plastic wrap for long term freezer storage.
    Now that it’s easy to have a keto dough recipe at your disposal, there’s no excuse not to have pizza night at least once or twice a week on the ketogenic diet!

    KETO FATHEAD DOUGH
    10 oz mozzarella cheese
    5 oz almond flour
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    Makes enough for one large keto pizza with 8 slices. If you are making keto pizza, roll the dough out between two pieces of parchment paper until the dough is 1/4 inch thick. Poke holes in the dough with a fork. Precook in the oven at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove from oven and add toppings. Cook again in the oven for 5-8 more minutes or until cheese is melted.

      Omg! I tried this recipe tonight...I was to eager to get this in the oven that i forgot to pre-bake the base and poke holes in it. It turns out I didnt need to (probably depends on base thickness)...it came out perfect and delicious anyway! Thank you!!!! Now I can have pizza without feeling guilty... 😘

    I have perfected your fat head dough for mini pizzas. I cut the dough in 8 circles and press in tortilla press to make circles. I freeze them immediately and take one out at a time. I cook it in the air fryer at 400 for 5 minutes on each side. I then add sauce, toppings and cheese of choice. Perfect individual pizza for one. Thank you for the recipe!

    To get a firmer crust, you can bake the crust at 375 for 8 minutes. Then add toppings and broil just until the cheese melts.

    My wife just uses almond flour, 2 eggs, little bit of butter & some seasonings.....for a pizza crust. Works great.

      i do the same but i use olive oil instead of butter. A little less cheese cannot hurt.

    My husband went on the keto diet and actually went into ketosis rather quickly. He lost about 28 pounds! Unfortunately I love sweets and baking so I haven’t fully committed yet, but I will!
    He actually went on the diet for diabetes and was able to come off his medication!

      same for myself and hubby....we've been on LC diet for 1 and 1/2 yrs... now and he and i have lost 30 and 40 lbs... ive lost alot of inches too... he now has came off his diabetes meds and is down to 1 pill a day now .. his A1C was 5.9 last ck'd ... mine was 5.2.... now that ive been doing LC I still bake as i too love baking cookies, cakes, pies... i just bake ALOT of LC sugar free desserts ... which has been working ...barbara hang in there you'll b able to also do the keto diet... we do 50 CARBS PER MEAL ... and its working ...and we still snack !
      at night before bed... just use SugarFree sugar my preference is Erythritol ... you can
      get this at walmart ..

      @@elisevautour6292 Great for you! I do keto with him, except I don’t try to get into ketosis and it still works. He was consuming only 20, or less carbs a day!
      We use 100% unsweetened cocoa in either powdered or chip form. It’s a bit bitter, but your body gets used to it. Actually after only a few days I was surprised to find I couldn’t tolerate sweets, and other people say the same thing. I read that sugar is 8 times more addictive than heroine, but I can’t compare because I’ve never tried that. I have been loving sweets, and probably addicted to them most of my life.

    I used this dough to make tortillas tonight and it turned out fantastic. I used a small cookie scoop to get the right size. It came out to an even 10 tortillas. Then I flattened them with a tortilla press and baked them for 5 minutes. They were pliable and tasted great! Came out to 2.2 total carbs per tortilla! Thanks for the great recipe!! They were used for tacos that my whole family loved, but next I want to try making breakfast burritos with them.

      I do also...
      I also mince 1whole clove of fresh garlic and add that and 2Tablespoons of crushed dried parsley and 2 tablespoons of red pepper flakes...along with 1 and a 1/2 Tablespoon Oregano to my dough...
      Makes it sooo tasty!

    This is by far the best dough recipe I've tried. It tastes the most like regular dough!
    If you're using the metric system these are the measurements I used:
    150g of almond flour
    300g of mozzarella cheese

    I've found that if you toss the almond flour with the mozzarella before you melt it, then stir the eggs in you tend to get a more homogenous dough and it mixes together faster. I do it by hand and it always saves my arm.

      @@sunflower5103 Toss the Almond flour with the unmelted mozzerella shreds, Before you melt the mozzerella in the microwave. Then stir the egg into the mozzerella/Almond flour mass after melting. He's not using an electric mixer, and it makes less work that way than trying to stir the grainy flour into the gooey chese after. The mixer and the kneading after is to make it more uniform, but seems Sydney found this as a shortcut.

    I made 6 gorditas that i baked for 25 minutes and then filled with ground beef. Added lettuce tomatoes cheese sour cream and salsa. Super good!

    I tried this but had to alter it a smidge because I only had 4.8oz of cheese so I added 2 oz of cream cheese to make it up. It was the best & easiest Keto dough. I made both pizza & mini cinnamon pecan rolls. Thank you 🙏🏽

    Tried this recipe tonight and it tasted great. I made a mushroom, black olive pizza with white truffle oil. I think the next time, I will roll out my dough a little thinner though, so I can have a crispier crust. The edges were perfectly crispy and delicious. Once I rolled my dough, I put it in the oven for 5 minutes. I may increase to 8 or 10 minutes the next time and then add my sauce, toppings.

    Wow! This is so perfect, I just made pizza for lunch. Very easy, I used a cookie tray drizzle some olive oil and press the dough until I get the thickness I want. I give this recipe A+++. Thank you!

      @@samiyakhalid5647 Make the fathead dough like you would for pizza. Then, roll it out on parchment paper, lay on a cookie sheet and bake it for 10-12 minutes. Use a pizza wheel to cut into "strips" and use for your lasagna noodles.

      @@littlelamb6804 I've seen gluten free rice flour pizza crusts. Our health food store sold them. they were not very good ,but they held the toppings just fine. Many alternative flour gluten-free pizza crusts I've experienced just seemed lacking. Most of the more creative pizza crusts I've seen have come out of the Low Carb and Keto communities not so much the gluten-free community, but everyone benefits, so it is a win/win.

    I made this recipe 3x already and it's quite simply the best keto pizza recipe ever.
    But, I tweaked it slightly for the second pizza. Instead of using 140g of almond flower, I use 120g of it and add 20g of parmesan cheese. I think that next time I'll even switch to 110-30.
    What I also do differently is I cook the dough at a lower heat (100°C) for 15 minutes before going up to 180°C for it to become golden. I also add basil and garlic to the dough.
    As a vegetarian, my pizza toppings are 1,5 red onions, 2 sliced mushrooms, 1/2 yellow pepper, 1/2 green pepper, 20g parmesan cheese, 1/2 very thinly sliced tomato and about 50g of emmental cheese.
    The weirdest thing about it is that I always have 2 slices left and when I get down later at night to swallow those, it tastes even better for some reason. That's right, the pizza that's been sitting there for 3 hours, cold, tastes better than when it got out of the oven.

    I would be tempted to replace the mozzarella cheese with suet (beef kidney fat) which was used in dough in Victorian times. In fact, English Christmas Pudding is still made with suet today! For those of us who have issues with dairy, it might be worth trying.

      One thing to note: today's product sold as suet usually isn't exactly the same as the suet from Victorian times. Real suet is the fat from around the kidneys on a cow and nothing else, not other cuts of fat, not flour (which some modern products have, nothing) - of course, you can always make your own.     I love this recipe! But I use yeast instead of baking powder. This is such a good recipe that after making so many other recipes for fathead, I stick with this one because the proportions of each ingredient seem to be spot on in my opinion. And yes, it subs for any dough product you want to make, bread, rolls, pizza crust.. cheese biscuits, etc. I've even made "corn" bread by using half and half almond flour and almond meal that I ground myself to the consistency of cornmeal. The only thing I have not tried with this dough is 90-second bread. But I've made this recipe by throwing all the ingredients into a food processor (instead of putting the cheese in the microwave) and grinding them all up together. Turned out great! I don't think you can mess this recipe up.

      Sounds good for sure! Now, can you tell me if you need to allow the mixture to rise because you are adding the yeast instead of the baking powder…..what is the texture of the Pizza dough after baking……does it rise due to adding yeast?? Thanks so much for your advice…..😊

    My oven varies, so at first try I didn’t want to overdo the baking of the crust, so I did 5 minutes, but it could have gone 6 or 7 minutes. I only used parchment on the top as I rolled it out on my pizza stone. Perfect! We loved this! It was so delish!!! I forwarded to my coworker and she forwarded to her husband to buy the ingredients. lol! Thank you so much!

    I have watched several Fathead pizza tutorials, and I have to say yours looked the best when sliced and pulled out of the pie.

    Success! I used this recipe, split the dough in half and rolled out a smaller pizza. I used my instant pot air fryer, 5 min on each side, then cooled it down before I loaded the pizza sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms and cheese on top (in that order.) I also sliced the mushrooms extra thin and sprinkled them with salt and garlic powder, gently patting with paper towel. I was determined to have a crispier crust and while it wasn't like regular dough, it was NOT soggy. 5 min to melt & brown the cheese....and IT WAS DIVINE!!

    I LOVE the mixer idea!! I’m so intimidated with fathead dough, I’m always saying I’m gonna make it but then never do 😂 The whole “needing” is always so intimidating to me!

    I made this tonight. And since I have a hard time following directions I forgot to bake it on the parchment paper. (It stuck to the pan on the edges.) Also I rolled it to a skinny 1/4" and after baking I think I rolled it a little too much. The pizza was delicious. I'm so surprised because I didn't expect it to be good. Looking forward to making it again. Thanks for the demo!

    I used to make this then I discovered CHICKEN PIZZA CRUST....never going back to melting mozarella messy kitchen....
    1 Can Chicken Drained
    1 Egg
    1/4 cup Parmesan
    1/2 cup Mozarella
    Season of your choice
    Mix/blend them up and smash them on top of parchment paper into crust shape...BROIL till you see the crust turning brown. Add cheese toppings and whatever. Broil till all turns brown and crispy...

      I believe ketoconnect has the chicken crust recipe and it's just solid chicken from toucans and I think he can seasoned it but you drain it really really good put it in the oven bake it and then put your ingredients on top so it's even less messy than cheese pizza Crest

    I'm not nearly as sophisticated with my making my dough as she is. lol. I never used baking powder and use cream cheese. Mine always looks like a gloppy, chunky mess but it sure tastes good as a pizza! :D I've been on keto for over 13 months and I would say that I probably make a keto pizza 4-6 times a month.
