    I’d like to see the next generation ES and Avalon morph into rear wheel drive vehicles so that the ES can fill both market niches for the ES and departing GS lending the possibility of ES F-Sport and F-Type models. They should be available with awd as well. Ultimately I’d like to see them develop into all electric vehicles.
    I’d like to see the next IS grow in size just a bit to be more competitive with the next size up in rear seat leg room.

    Love my UL 2019 ES 300h... if I was able to live with front wheel drive on a 96' and 05' camry and 07' ES350 in the snowy midwest, I can live without awd for a few more years. But!!! I still want an AWD ES, touchscreen, and rear heated seats. "No compromise" luxury sedan!

    • @declansdad
      @declansdad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I still can't understand why the 300h doesn't have rear heated seats, while my 2014 Avalon Hybrid does? I cross shopped these 2 vehicles back in 2014 and was totally shocked by this. the one Lexus salesperson told me it was like that b/c the ES was the entry level sedan for Lexus. I said really, than what is the IS300/350? Total silence.

    I love the ES Lexus models as well, they are also known as the baby LS because of the smooth luxurious ride.
    I currently have a 2004 Lexus ES330 and that thing is smooth and reliable...these are some of the best years for Lexus as far as quality control. There is a Lexus ES on TH-cam with 569,000 miles on it and still running...that says everything!!👍🏽🥂🇺🇸🇯🇲🌴☀️🌴

    I'm gonna miss the GS (which i still plan on buying). The IS is to small and the ES is huge (avalon platform); the GS was the perfect size. Another factor is there won't be a direct competitor for the audi A/S5 the Genesis G80, BMW 4 series etc... I know its not selling as much but im generally going to miss the truly MIDSIZED, luxury, and PERFORMANCE that came with the reliability of lexus 😓😓😓😓😓😭😭😭😭

    In my opinion;
    they don’t incorporate from facing camera, touchscreen display, panorama roof, AWD, and a V6 Turbo Engine (355HP+) to their F SPORT ES models; then Toyota Avalon Touring will have the edge on this one; and for a bit less money..

Been inside e classes on its price range and 5 series and wouldn’t trade it for one. I have the blue mica which honestly haven’t seen one in the road like mines with the red int.

    You got a new Sub! I've watched a few of your other video's regarding the ES 350. I recently began looking into getting the 350 since my neighbor picked up his second ES in the past 10 years. He put 160K miles on his first with very minimal issues, water pump and I forget the other minor issue. Reason I'm looking is I'm out here in CA and my '17 Volt was/is a very good daily driver but as of 3 days ago I no longer have HOV access and this year I'm working 2 less days at my place of employment. I had considered getting the Tesla M3 Long Range, test drove a few month's ago, was impressed with the acceleration but didn't care at all for the speed gauge being placed on a screen to the right and very small at that.
    I've always been a Lexus fan but have yet to ever own one. I was able to test drive one over the weekend, they are rock solid and very quiet and much roomier than I had expected. Would choose over the Tesla M3 anyway of the week, Lexus ES 350 is priced almost $5K less. I would only be purchasing gas every two weeks or so. Only thing left to decide is which color and package. Thanks for the video

    As cool and iconic as the GS is its OOOOOLD. While still being a great car its competition is in another league. That type of car doesn't sell that great so i can see the board scratching their heads deciding on spending the millions to redesign it, re tech it, and re tool the factories. Its sad because i would welcome a new brash GS. But oh well.

    As much I drive an ES myself (It's a 2016 ES350 with Ultra Luxury), I got ridiculed by one Infiniti Q60 driver about how I wasted money on a glorified Camry/Avalon. In his mind, the ES is basically a Toyota Avalon Platinum Extreme Edition with Lexus badging just so that dealers can charge more money on the car. Granted, I did not test drive the equivalent Camry or Avalon when I was shopping for the ES. His Q60 is the Red Sport Edition with 400 hp.
    He also sees the ES in an inferior class below the other sedans on your sales chart (Benz E class, BMW 5 series, Genesis G80) and likens the ES to an Acura TLX/RLX. It's a premium car which is one step above a mainstream car but one step below a luxury car.
    The 2019 ES looks really cool with all the different curves Lexus put in. One nitpick is that I wished Toyota considered fold-down rear sears like they were did for the equivalent Camry/Avalon. Hopefully, they also brought back rear seat door storage pockets and a sunglasses holder which are both absent in my ES.

      It takes 5 time longer to make an ES compared to an Avalon. Sure they have their similarities, but the build quality and tolerances are world's apart.

    Lexus will probably use the Camry AWD system. Salute to the GS.
    Having been to London several times, I think to help sales, Lexus needs to make their cars more look more like the cars we have here in the US or Japan. The Euro versions are soft looking with, what looks to be, less features. They all look like base models. I'm not hey certain they offer an F variant in Europe.

    Great videos- very informative! I own a 2014 ES 350. I purchased it in in Nov 2013. I have to say, this is the first car I have ever owned that I'm not craving purchasing a new car... This is my first Lexus, and I've never owned a car that has stood the test of time so well. I will admit, I do take care of my cars and I keep it in the garage when I'm not using it... However, I live in the Northeast, where we see harsh winters and hot humid summers... The interior still looks brand new and the paint has held up beautifully. I just hit 91,000 miles, and after detailing it, someone asked me if I bought a new car... No car is a good investment, however, this car has easily given me the most bang for my buck. It is still as quite and as smooth as it was when I drove it off the lot. I've done all of the scheduled maintenance and literally the only things I've needed to replace are breaks, tires, filters, oil, and windshield wipers.
    I will likely be purchasing another Lexus ES this fall... Assuming Lexus continues what they're doing, I'll be a Lexus customer for life.

      @@KirkKreifels only thing I'm wondering is if they'll offer an AWD option that has a V6... and if I should wait for the next generation, since the 2022, will likely be the mid point of the current generation (which is insane to me how fast time moves!). But I honestly love the current generation- I test drove one the other day, and I'm amazed at how refined it is... the LS is also stunning... but I'm not yet at that point I can justify that much money for a depreciating asset haha... perhaps my next next car! Again, great video!

    I bought a 2020 Avalon Hybrid Limited on March 3, before the world fell apart with COVID-19. I considered the Lexus ES h, but the track pad for the entertainment center was very off-putting. I hate second-guessing myself as a buyer, and I know I got a great car, but the ES comes with a better warranty, "Lexus service," and yes, the luxury name. Still, as you mentioned, the ES is everywhere. The Avalon is not as ubiquitous in comparison. Plus it has that touchscreen that you mentioned several times. And the Sport mode really does get up and go. (I, like you, don't tend to go too fast, and I'm always trying to see how high I can get that hybrid mileage.) But hey, in the quarantine, who's driving anyway?!

    It should recive rwd vplatform and at least double whish bone front suspention in next gen. Typical Masterson strut suspension isn't a good handling option, cos the pivot point of the wehel isn't in the center of that wheel. Now, you could do something like in honda civic type r or BMW 3 by separating the making a real knuckle and enabling the hub rotating on two ball joints, control arm one in the buttom like in standart Macferson + one from the knuckle on top of the hub. But real double whish bone is a batter solution.

    Hi Kirk. Glad to see someone like you who knows the real values of Toyota/Lexus produce. I have bought 2 lexus ES and 2017 Toyota Camry and my first Toyota Corolla back in college days. They make by far the best luxury smooth quiet and reliable cars. Currently own 2013 ES300H and very satisfied customer. I got a tell you I paid more for hybrid simply because of low carbon emission credit I was getting and opted for4 cyl v/s 6 cyl ES. What at the time did not like was 3k price more for ES hybrids then V6 ES. 😅 However I hear you talk about Tesla model 3 in this video. Guess what I did purchased 2018 AWD Tesla model 3 and man the performance is so addictive and tech works like smart mobile is a truly game changer well at least for me. I wish Elon musk would drive Lexus ES and learn few things that can help Tesla improve with sound proofing quietness and luxury appearance and few qualities. On the other hand I wish Akio Toyoda would drive Tesla electric car and learn tech and software and electric motor drivetrain and start putting all effort into full electrification in Lexus car. This would make me especially a happy customer coming back 😀. Well great video and keep up the good job.👍🏻

Cheers!

    The GS deserves a new generation to compete with the upcoming 2021 G80. It never got the smartphone integration tech & the interior really stand out to make you feel special in the current gen GS. I mean they should really incorporate multicolor ambient lighting the way the German sedan competition & evne the 2021 G80 will have. They let themselves get behind inthe segment when they should've been more competitive with the GS refresh. Their grills have gotten too massive & could turn people off from the car & the brand. Some restraint in the design would be better

    I think they should use a similar power train to the highlander hybrid, with around 250hp with a bigger capacity hybrid battery, I think that they can maintain about the same mpg due to the bigger battery and probably an improved hybrid system, then you wont feel bad because a camry hybrid or an avalon can easily smoke your expensive lexus hybrid, this car should have a similar or better acceleration to the toyota version of it, and lexus should have the technology to also provide a 4 wheel drive train without affecting the mpg too much like what happened with nissan

    No, I live in "colder climate" and have typically 3-5 months of winter roads, and I don't see lack of 4wd as a deal breaker.
    The deal breaker with Lexus and Toyota is the lack of comfortable station wagons. I could even accept a larger comfortable hatchback. But a sedan? That is like having a half car.
    And in the case of ES and Camry: With no foldable rear seat? That I cannot attach a hitch to? That is not a even half a car, that is 25% of a car.
    If I cannot tow my small boat after the car, if I can't transport a bike on the car, if I can't buy planks, if I can't transport big boxes, what's the point in the car?
    I really, really like the hybrid drive-train in Lexus, but why can't they put it in a car that is useable in my everyday life?

    Sorry Lexus, love the ride & comfort but that wide front end grill is gross. I want no part of that hideous look.
