Thank you for including Dottie West. She's my favorite female country artist of all time. Sadly, she's been overlooked and underrated over the years. She was the first female country artist to win a Grammy for her hit "Here Comes My Baby Back Again", just a year after Patsy Cline's passing. She and Patsy Cline were close friends, and she never really got over Patsy's passing. Recommended songs of hers: Blue As I Want To, We Know Better Now, Jesse, Sometimes When We Touch, Leavin's For Unbelievers, Something's Missin', Hate The Lies (Love The Liar), Blue Fiddle Waltz, and You Pick Me Up And Put Me Down.
Dottie West was very talented, her passing shocked as I never heard about the wreck she was in. I also agree that she was very underrated. I went to McMinnville to see her resting place, very beautiful stone which was a gift from the fan's
Dottie called her neighbor to give her a ride. He was an older guy and never told her he had been drinking and not planning on going anywhere. When they took her in on a stretcher, she was laughing and talking, not realizing she was bleeding internally. A friend of mine from Mississippi knew her.
Absolutely - he played the ky St Fair Rodeo 2 yrs in a row in Louisville - He found out Driving my life Away hit #1 that day and the following year he found out Every Which Way But Loose hit #1 - I knew I wanted to sing and play the guitar + and I do -
Joe Diffie's passing shocked me! As someone who started listening to country music as a kid in the 90's, he was one of my favorites. Lorrie Morgan sadly blamed herself for Keith Whitley's death, as she was on a promotional tour for her new album at the time and believed if she had been home she could have stopped him from drinking. To this day she says he was the love of her life. Eddie Rabbit also wrote many hits for other artists, including Ronnie Millsap's #1 hit "Pure Love."
These Artists were the reason I ever listened to country music. Each and every artist in this group were artists I loved and I do miss them a lot. Country hasn’t been the same since their passing 😢

I have always said I'm a northern girl with a Southern heart I love country music. Rest in Peace Hank Williams Sr. in the short time you were here you made a big impression on me.🌹🎉🙏
I still miss Marty Robbins. He was the most amazing showman with the greatest voice ever recorded IMO. When he was on stage, he acted like there was nothing in the world he would rather be doing. Never seen anyone else stop in the middle of a song, talk and joke with audience members and then pick up right where he left off, maybe it was rehearsed, but sure came across as spontaneous.
I wasn’t aware that Mindy McCready had passed away. I was loving her song when she burst out in the 90s called: guys do it all the time. I’ll have to say is God I love the 90s for country music. I grew up on the older stuff too. But the 90s is my favorite.
Patsy's husband insisted she fly home no matter the weather asap, even after telling her husband she wanted to drive back home in an car, very sad that her husband was such a dominant force in her sad death! 🙏
Yeah Hank Williams Sr didn't have to go to college because he was a genius singer and song writer, so damn good and sings from his soul, no their will be another I wasn't born then but was, fasnated, with him, I have almost, all of his songs they say, only the good died young 😂😂😂❤❤ bless his soul. Yes, he was one of the Statler Brothers. I remember him very well, I have Crohns disease too and it's nearly killed me 4 times in the last 7 years. Its a very serious disease that affects more than just the digestive tract.
The honky-tonk style singer Johnny Horton passed away two young as well and could be placed in the crashes section if you do an additional video on this subject. If my memory serves me correctly, Tex Ritter died young as well.
@ashley1994, How did he have no talent? He had no talent in what? You must not be referring to what he was known for, because he sounded fine. Also, you forgetting about him dying means nothing. And lastly, there's no such thing as 200%, hence "per cent", or per 100.
@ashley1994 Kevin Sharp had enough talent to get signed to a record label and produce country music for a living. His first studio album Measure of a Man went double platinum here in the US.
You forgot Olivia Newton-John. She was a huge Country Music Superstar before Grease and evolved in the 1980's and returned to Country in 1998. She won every Country Music Award available from the CMA including Grammy's. If anyone is worthy of being an Icon Legendary Superstar it's Olivia Newton-John. She came across 2 Continents to the USA and conquered the Country Music World and won. She passed away on August 8th 2022 at home on her ranch in Santa Ynez California after battling Cancer since 1992.
Well, she was 73, that would disqualify her for 'dying too soon'. She lived a good long life considering all she went through with the start of the Breast Cancer diagnosis.
This is so sad.. my family and I were supposed to go see Chris LeDoux in concert and that was the first concert he had to cancel due to health problems and not too long after that, he passed away. Thankfully I got to see the exact gas station where Hanks driver stopped in Oak Hill, WV and discovered Hank dead in the back seat. Tyree Funeral home is where his body was taken until the family was notified and arrangements were made. Tyree Funeral Home is still in business to this day, only change was location. Unfortunately and sadly, the city of Oak Hill chose to tear down the gas station instead of preserving it, some of the backwoods hicks in the town didn't want to deal with the tourists. It broke my heart and every time I drove past the site, it just made me sick to my stomach. I live about a 40 minute drive from that spot. 😪😪😭
If I heard the country legend Queen Reba Mcentire who died of a plane crash or anything else I would crying so hard and I don't think I would be able to listen to any of her songs because I'd be crying even harder 😭😭
Crazy story about Eddie when he was needing the pay phone I was on and said to me” Do you like county music”? I looked at him and said Eddie I’ll pay for your call. He winked at me and said son you have great taste in music. He then took over the phone and patted me on the back.
Please recognize the passing of real country music the day that the Nasville Pop "New Country" took over the airwaves and venues. The death of pedalsteel and memorable life lyrics have given way to an undefined genre of a mix of pop, rap, rural hip hop with a dash of country guitar. Traditional country can only be found on the web in a few places, not AM/FM Country Music Radio. Have removed from channel selectors.
@@GearJammerGarage I believe because the focus was on those who passed before age 60. He and Faron Young, the latter of whom took his own life, were both 64 when they died.
@@CountryCast, No. It's not. I know who is who. I wasn't referring to Joe Diffie, at all. Troy (also referred to as T-Roy) Gentry is the one with the hat. I remember hearing about it, and I also remember a video, with Eddie Montgomery (the younger looking one) talking to his audience, about if they wanted him to continue singing Montgomery Gentry songs. I also remember seeing a video, where people (on a radio station or podcast, I think) were talking about one of the members' death, but, at first, it seemed like things were switched around, but after a few minutes, it was cleared up to know that it was Troy Gentry that they were talking about. It freaked me out, for a moment, like this video did. I'm not misremembering. You can believe what you want.
@@CountryCast, I also remember thinking that, if Eddie Montgomery had been the one that died, Montgomery Gentry could continue, if John Michael Montgomery were to join Troy Gentry.
@@RayfordRaySiegel I looking at the thumbnail now. That's Troy Gentry. Eddie always wore the black suit with the black hat and twirled the microphone stand. Troy was back up vocals and guitar.
Jimmie Rogers and Jim Reeves should have been on this list, but I’m even more surprised that you forget about Gram Parsons, the Father of Country-Rock. He was only 26 when he passed in 1973. He should have been on this list too.
Keith Whitley's mother spoke to him on the phone the morning right before he passed away. She never mentioned anything about if he'd been drinking or not, and in fact said he sounded just fine and he said he was doing ok. However, that's not saying he didn't decide to tie one on right after that though, but he did have a visitor at his house that morning in which they were scheduled to play golf that day, and even that individual never mentioned Keith being drunk. Something about his death just doesn't seem right to me... I find the entire story smoke and mirrors.
I heard that his wife had went on a music tour and he didn't want her to go. He had been trying to get straight with her help, and she left him alone, he started back drinking 🍸 and couldn't control it, he got several bottles of whiskey saying that he was going to drink them all, and after the second or third bottle, he overdose..all I know was he had an alcohol problem that was out of control..I do know that alcohol can kill you 😡 I came very close several times over the years..much more than several times ⏲️ 🤔 🎶
@@charliecroft7012 seriously I don't know what to believe about it all?... he was accused of drinking anything that had alcohol in it, but whiskey was his choice poison. If what you're saying is true and I've heard and read similar accounts, then Keith basically committed suicide. I know he had been thru some awful things due to his own doings, but to kill himself in his position is nuts. The guy had it made, could have easily gotten more help than he did and stayed clean. Sure makes me wonder about things that weren't brought to the surface he never told anyone that drove him to self destruction. I do know on a personal basis life can be a bitch and no amount of money or fame has the answers. Why is it the best has the worse demons to deal with? Keith was such a good musician/singer... such a waste of his future. Imo, I think his hangups went back to his startem in his bluegrass beginnings... something took place at that time he never got over or talked about?
I hate Cancer my dad dead from cancer almost his has die from Cancer I love Conway Tweety my dad was a big Country fan he broke his radio nunb so we couldn't change.the radio.
His family had Cancer to his brothers die of Cancer and his sister had Cancer but they survived and one of his brothers died of Pneumonia almost all his family had died Cancer there you go .
I played with Troy Lee Gentry and Eddy before they made it to the big time. Troy was an ass back then, treating other up and coming local talent like crap. His parents owned a bar back then, it was called The Grapevine. Other singers would bring their friends to the open mic night, hoping he'd get us up to play. The place would be packed with people buying booze and food, and he wouldn't give other singers their due. Of course he would be drunk off his ass, but that isn't an excuse. Still, I bought their music when they hit the big time. Eddy on the other hand was a class act all the time. Anytime we were on stage together he was awesome. John Michael Montgomery was too. This story always stuck with me. Treat everyone fairly and with respect regardless of where you are in life, and people will always love you.. "Dead or Alive".

Hello how are you doing….?
Not True Country Southern Rock
Miss John.
What about Jim Reeves?
He was mentioned.
Where’s WAYLON JENNINGS. ❤️❤️
That's what I'm saying
@@GearJammerGarage I believe because the focus was on those who passed before age 60. He and Faron Young, the latter of whom took his own life, were both 64 when they died.
In Heaven hopefully.
Why didn’t you add Kevin Sharp to the list!?!?! He was one of the best singers there was!!!!
nope
@@MongoLloyd-px7jt good enough to have a double platinum album
Totally agree. One of my favorite of the more current artists
I still listen to Kevin Sharp! I loved his music 🎵
You forgot waylon jennings
You forgot Dan Seals.
I love Eddie Rabbit I love him.
Yeah, all the good die Young, leaving us in a lot of pain 😂 they are all in heaven with the Lord.
you forgot 1/2 of the duo big & rich
Big Kenny & John Rich are still living.
Chris was the real deal
As someone who has the birth defect, I must make a correction. It's Spina Bifida not Spinal Bifida.
Woah! There's something not right, with the "thumbnail", because it shows Eddie Montgomery, instead of Troy Gentry.
That is Joe Diffie! 😂 Troy is all the way to the right.
@@CountryCast,
No.
@@CountryCast,
I also remember thinking that, if Eddie Montgomery had been the one that died, Montgomery Gentry could continue, if John Michael Montgomery were to join Troy Gentry.
Jim Reeves was mentioned.
Roger Miller should be on the list also.
He did leave out Jim Reeves and many others so HE NEEDS TO DO A PART 2 (if he hasn’t already did it). Good video though!
what about kt Olson
Isn't she still living?
jeff Carson also passed away at an early age.
He was a drunk
@@Lunardortio , you know that Keith was a drunk personally? Did you know him?
Coincidence or not...Keith Whitley died may 9 1989, Lorrie's debut album released may 11 1989
I hate Cancer my dad dead from cancer almost his has die from Cancer I love Conway Tweety my dad was a big Country fan he broke his radio nunb so we couldn't change.the radio.

Well how about Mel Street and String bean?
Tammy wynette died in 1998
Correction: It's Hawkshaw Hawkins, not Hackshaw.
