I remember when he came out and started singing, but he was so not sure of himself. It's so sad. It's so ironic that only Barry survives everyone. I was there. Andy was a good performer. He never thought he was as good as his brothers. Drinking and drugs did him in. It did to a lot of rock stars. Depression is a real disease. People just didn't know. He needed anti depressants not "snap out of it".
A pampered childhood most of the time ends up like this. He never had to struggle for anything and near the end of his life when he did he had panic attacks and hid away and drank and drugged himself to death. In the end, money, fame and beautiful women can't buy or bring you happiness and help your bedeviled mind.

Very sad story. He had it all . To have that winning combination of good looks, talent , wealth and women that adopted him, he threw it all away. So many of us struggle with finances, trying to even be ok looking and trying to survive in a hard world of rejection and heart aches. Great presentation, I really liked his music. 😢
Poverty kept me from destroying myself when I was coming up. Had to keep things under control or I wasn't going to eat, or achieve a better future. If my present had been too easy, I could easily go down that same path. Those who don't destroy themselves with early, easy success, are rare.
I was never a disco fan, but I have to admit that, 'Stayin' Alive', is a great song. The whole, 'Beegees' story, of all the brothers, is truly tragic. But then again, we all suffer tragedy, now don't we.
All the Gibbs are talented. Only andy wanted to go solo while the remaining three continues as the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb even composed the song for Andy which became a hit; and andy even provided back up voice. I prefer the songs of the Bee Gees in the wat the sing naturally not the way Andy sings like a falsetto but preferred by the audience who were then enamored by the disco style of music. That is life.
So Sad. The youngest child who was spoiled and pandered to and never taught boundaries or repercussions of his entitled behavior. Noone wanted to burst his bubble at such an young age, but it is part of growing up and becoming responsible. Easy to see in hindsight. A great loss felt by all.
Victoria Principal took a stand due to Gibb's pornography addiction. She gave him an ultimatum. In other words, she gave Gibb the chance to grow up and accept responsibility.😢
Addiction isn't an accident. It's a choice. Nobody forces you to snort line after line of cocaine. Nobody ties you up and force feeds you alcohol. It is indeed a sad thing when people become addicts, but we can't just wipe away their personal agency and accountability for their choices. I did not follow the career of Andy Gibb. I could recognize his big hits, and that was about it. Then one night when I was in college, his song "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" was blasting so loud in a dream that it woke me up. The dream quickly evaporated and I realized all around was quiet, but I got up anyway to look out the bedroom window to see if anybody was outside that might have been making that racket. Nope. In a little while a car came slowly up the street, tossing the Los Angeles Times out for its delivery customers, but there was no music. I went back to sleep. In the morning I went off to my classes and was gone until dinner time. As I walked past the open door of one of my housemates' rooms on the way to mine, I heard that same song coming from his television. Oh, weird. What a strange coincidence, I thought. Finally that night, I had my own telly on, tuned to the 9 or 10 pm news broadcast on the Spanish-language station, and ... there was that song again. I looked up quickly from what I was working on, thinking "What the hey?", and saw an Andy Gibb performance clip with the title "LUTO" at the bottom as the news went to a commercial break. "Luto" is Spanish for "sorrow", so I realized what had happened. But I never figured out why that song SO invaded and disrupted my sleep less than 24 hours earlier.
RIP, Andy. I was 16 when Elvis died during the summer of 1977 and was in Montreal working with friends. Went to see April Wine and Andy opened for them on a drizzly night. He had a big hit then but what I really enjoyed was his and his band's rendition of The Beatles classic, 'Getting Better.'

My bad, thank you for the clearing that up. Have a blessed day
As a very young girl who adored ALL his songs, I remember thinking of what a Gentle person he must be. That he probably had such a sweet kind life. I sensed an innocence there but perhaps I was projecting on the innocence lost in my own childhood. I grew up in a house of addiction. Little did I know that Andy, too was immersed. However, not changing the effect his music had on my delicate heart and still does.

His brothers tried to get him some help, but it didn't help. It's so sad that he died 5 days after his 30th birthday. I hope he is resting in peace now. I still love him and miss him and his beautiful smile.

I remember when he was madly in love with Victoria. I thought she was just using the guy to be honest. Then she dumped him and I recall the papers reported how upset and depressed he was over it. I really thought she was the reason he went downhill so far, never to recover.
Andy was the same age as myself. I remember him well and still have some of his and the Bee Gees music on a playlist. It's sad how he passed. Such a waste of so much potential. ❤❤

Very, very sad and tragic end for a talented young man. I grew up in high school with the Bee Gees and Andy Gibb's music. Like so many artists before him and after him, they get exposed to drugs and alcohol. Then, it takes control of their lives. 😢
I knew of the relationship with Victoria Powell but never knew they were 8 years apart! I always thought he was already in his 30s when he was singing.
Although I was never into heart throbs, or boy bands, I always thought that Andy was the most beautiful and gorgeous man to walk on the face of this earth with a smile that always send chills down my spine and those beautiful soft, sparky blue eyes.
Spoczywaj w pokoju, Andy.
Sooo sad -A God given talent- Blessed with many great gifts with an amazingly gifted and talented, loving famous family, who earn't their fame and fortune and at the same time have left behind a legacy of aspiring love in the songs and music they have shared with us all-All for one and one for all -This is Australia-never to be devided -never shall we fall.
Thank you for this video of a favorite of mine. Loved and still love his songs. Him and the Bee Gees are icons. Collectively they have given us amazing songs. RIP Andy, Robin and Maurice.
'It was not enough'? That suggests that he needed more. The thing is that it's not in what you have. When you have enough to have a good life, anything more will just make you unhappy. Owning stuff does not make you happy.
A couple of people in my family will ex family were spoiled. Never really disciplined and their lives are tragic. In the sense of they could have been so much more having the knowledge and the ability they just chose to. Not. I suffered. Much broken heart of this. To see people just waste their lives and hurt the ones that they supposedly loved. On't spoil your kid, it's obvious. You're only. Hurting them😢

I imagine a very long book could be written about all the performers who have had drug problems. Might be easier to say who hasn't.
So well explained and expressed.❤🎉❤
@mollysmeow3455 thank you
Loved Andy Gibb. We were about the same age. Love is thicker than water got me through a tough time.
I adored him.
His brothers are very supportive brothers, barry wrote many songs for him and helped his career. And Maurice felt sorry for his last words. Showed how they care for him......but he never learn. What a spoiled man. Poor her wife and daughter.
Absolutely positively true story..In the 80's ...83/84/85 I worked at the Gulf gas station on key Biscayne just past the Miami Seaquarium ..I would pump gas for the wealthy people that lived there and the skinny older Gibb brother would come in regularly..he was always nice to me and always left me a tip..👍

In the life of man
His time is only a moment
His future dark
His body a prey of worms
All that is of future
Is like of coursing waters
All that is of soul
Is as of vapours
My favorite Andy Gibb song is Shadow Dancing. I'm watching from TH-cam
I’m pretty sure We are All watching from youtube 🤔
@teenanance8691 I'm SORRY I'm a novice ,I just put that cause when I was watching video about Andy Gibb last night they said to say in the comments what is your favorite Andy Gibb song and what platform are you watching, so I assumed their were more platforms especially since some one was complaining about too many commercials.I guess I have premium and i pay more money cause i don't get the commercials. My bad, thank you for the clearing that up. Have a blessed day
@
You are too kind. 🙏
I was born in the 70’s and seen him on solid gold and I was in love 🥰 at a very young age lol I still listen to his music ❤️
Honestly, he could have been a megastar if not for drugs. So sad.
One of the best era in music. Love the Bee Gees.
Je ho velká škoda byl hezký muž škoda že ho už neuslisim zpívat velký pozdrav Andy odpočívej v pokoji zdravím i dva bratry cest vaší památce 🎉🎉🎉😢😢😢
Barry the only survivor
Santa brought me Shadow Dancing the year it came out. I played it constantly and had posters of Andy behind my bedroom door!
Ohhhh my, Andy Gibb❤🥰, he was such a great singer and such a sweetheart 🤗.
Always loved him so much 🥺🌹💫.
LOVE and hugs from Germany / Bavaria, Ingrid 🌟❤
❤ What a beautiful remembrance to honor him ❤ loved this video ❤🎤❤️
Shadow Dancing was his best song from his hits.
I feel 10yrs old again playing my record player and dancing with my sisters in our corteroys. Loved him
I heard Barry talking some years ago, he said both Robin and Maurice also had addiction problems.
Just because someone has talent doesn’t mean they can cope with fame or the boredom and monotony of touring.
I had such a crush on him when I was a teenager. I was so shocked to hear of his passing. I didn't know he was having all these problems with drugs and alcohol. His brothers tried to get him some help, but it didn't help. It's so sad that he died 5 days after his 30th birthday. I hope he is resting in peace now. I still love him and miss him and his beautiful smile.
It is ironic that he did not heed the message from one of his greatest hits "Don't Throw It All Away". A true talent, may his soul RIP.
Man... you just got back a ton of my childhood memories. I used to listen to After Dark on the cassette.. loved those songs. Sad to hear Andy's story. Thanks for the video.
Loved Andy Gibb, he was popular when I was in high school and college.
When somebody's depressed or even addicted tell him to focus on what is right and keep doing what is right and keep doing what is right and then soon that will be what is Right will be automatic
I loved Andy Gibb! Esp 'warm rider' which I'd play over and over again. He had a wonderful voice.
I will never forget you Andy. You will be all was be my angel 😇😢
I grew up during the disco era and loved disco dancing. The Bee Gees and Andy Gibb were my favorite and still are. I fell in love with Andy’s music his first hit I just want to be your everything. I was so excited for him. It was so sad when we lost such a talented man.
I loved him soooo much, I had the biggest poster I've ever seen of him on my bedroom wall. 🇬🇧 ❤
He was my first celebrity crush! His death broke my heart!
I remember when he was madly in love with Victoria. I thought she was just using the guy to be honest. Then she dumped him and I recall the papers reported how upset and depressed he was over it. I really thought she was the reason he went downhill so far, never to recover.
flew too close to the sun and burnt his wings - hey look at me everyone! So lucky & yet so unfortunate. Heart goes out to the Gibb Family,
"Dont throw it all away" that song that he missed up he should love his carrier, love and prosperity
He was so talented. So sad when he died 😢
Andy Gibb was my first crush ❤
"SHADOW DANCIN"!!! Loved that 🎵 🎶 🎵 song! ❤
Andy was the same age as myself. I remember him well and still have some of his and the Bee Gees music on a playlist. It's sad how he passed. Such a waste of so much potential. ❤❤
Now i know, when i was small all of my older brothers and sisters always playing his songs
So so sorry to hear Andy Gibbs’ story! May he rest in peace!
Starlight is one of the less known song that deserves more credit.
I didn’t know this background information about Andy Gibb and his upbringing, family relationships, his lack of work ethic. Fascinating knowing the story behind the music and the man, thank you ❤
Unfortunately this repeats itself with many celebs even now 😢
I think he thought he wished he was the age of his brothers and couldn't measure up. He was a nice and talented guy. Addiction is a drag.
Barry was by far the most talented of the family.
True.
And he's still Stayin Alive.
I remember seeing him live when he opened for another act. When on stage he was the consummate performer.
Mental illness is a horrible and I very difficult disease to treat Rip Andy Gone to soon 🕯️
@@janicemackey2293 it's not MI it's addiction to DRUGS.
Such a talented family. I had such a crush on Andy Gibb growing up.
he had a bad drug habit and his divorce from pam really sent him further down hill...its sad he didnt get help earlier in his life but you only live once and his was up and down...r.i.p andy may you find peace
His smile was gorgeous, but his eyes were light brown.
@@Krizz139That is my eye color.
Spoczywaj w pokoju, Andy.
Rest in Peace Andy, I loved u and u were so talented. I loved all ❤😊ur songs
He did fall though
Maybe he couldn't end his addiction and became so depressed,he gave up. Addiction is a hell of a thing.
Why edit God given??
Thank you for this video of a favorite of mine. Loved and still love his songs. Him and the Bee Gees are icons. Collectively they have given us amazing songs. RIP Andy, Robin and Maurice.
Fame didn't _"burn Andy's wings."_ Andy burnt His OWN Wings..... as so sadly, so tragically do 90+% of all drug addicts. 😵😵💫

Abso-freakin lutely correct 💯 % !
great voice, amazing talent ….. POOR SOUL 😢
'It was not enough'? That suggests that he needed more. The thing is that it's not in what you have. When you have enough to have a good life, anything more will just make you unhappy. Owning stuff does not make you happy.
Without self control you can never be free and healthy.
He was my favorite Bee Gee and when I heard the news it was like I had lost a dear friend.
He wasn’t a Bee Gee
@dragonmummy1 I know he wasn't a Bee Gee but he was a brother of the Bee Gees and was helped by his brothers.
Hurting them😢
Just found out my ex died. He lived the way you wrote, word for word. I hope he finds it all in the Great Beyond. RIP ya dirty dog🎉
What a shame 😢 from Australia 🇦🇺
Gone to soon,but never forgotton,RIP Andy 🙏🕯️
Success has fit me like a shroud.
