This movie features a world devastated by a nuclear holocaust and a small underground resistance who battle the evil forces in authority. This movie is a follow up to the movies, "A Thief In the Night" and "A Distant Thunder" and "Image of the Beast".

I was about 13 or 14 years old when our church showed these films. A Distant Thunder was what got me down at the alter. I had missed the first one they showed, but seen the rest of the series. Scared me to death! That entire night I couldn't sleep....well, I've strayed since then, not proud of it...but rededicated my life in 2020. I'm lookin back!!! Yeah, seen these films when I was an early teen, got saved, and now I'm 55 years old now.
Praying with tears for the millions of lost people around the world who have NO idea who Jesus is!!!! 😭

The Gospel is being spread across the world even by social media. People are learning if you search TH-cam you will see testimonies of Muslims and more giving their life to Jesus. God is making sure EVERY PERSON gets a chance to hear about Jeus and a chance to accept him into their heart before he returns.
SAD PART IS THEY DON'T CARE!!! OR ARE COMPLETELY DEFIENT AND SAY HE DOESN'T EXIST !!! SO THEY HAVE AN EXCUSE TO LIVE THE WAY THEY WANT WITH ABSOLUTELY NO GUILT!!! OR THEY ARE JUST COMPLETELY EVIL NARRISSIST AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMING BACK FROM THAT OR SAVING THEM!!!! DEFINITION OF A LOST CAUSE !! SAD TO SAY!!!

For many of us who did not grow up seeing these films, they might feel a bit dated in quality compared to newer alternatives like the Left Behind series (which is now over 20 years old). But I must say…
The apologetic quality of the consistent presentation of the Gospel message and and its defense against our tendency to object to it without cause whatsoever, is truly impressive.
Through and through, these films are about the Gospel and not about being mere sensationalist entertainment.
I admire the evangelical effort of all involved with this.

Watched this whole series with my class in 1990. So moving. We saw this one at my teachers house at night. Scared the heck out of us. I bought the dvd set and now show it to my kids

I just love Jerry and Diane. I was always so sad that they took the mark. When I found out later that the actors were and are committed Christians, it was such a relief. I am a sucker for these old movies. Reverend Turner kept his beard, hoping to make part 5. I sure wish that they had been able to do that.

You can either lose your head, or go free..." Even after he took the Mark, Jerry seemed like a nice guy; Diane was a real pill. LOL! I loved them both! So glad that they are save in real life!
Do you think Jerry is crying and freaking out at the very end of the movie because his system has been destroyed or do you think he is crying because he knows he is going to hell and it is too late for him?

I wasn't too keen on Part 4; the ending was rather a letdown action wise. And the train incident...well, let's just say that I doubt if trains will be running normally, if at all because there will be earthquakes happening during the Great Tribulation, and train tracks and landscape will be out of place. At any rate, I believe God will get some glory because many Scriptures are explained so beautifully.

I think of revelations and the 7 letters to the churches. Only one was pleasing to Jesus Christ, yet He had a rebuke and warning to them.
They forgotten their First Love. If they did not repent, Jesus said their candlestick would be removed.
So we all must remain in our First Love, remaining faithful and endure to the end. Depend on the word of God, study it well, and never depend on your emotions to lead you.

Wow! even the date of this movie belies the fact that this is actually a GOOD movie. Forget the production value, a little corny, but I enjoyed it immensely. A good movie to show at your Church outside on a building side with popcorn and treats for all. As a summer Drive-in Movie. Even in 2023, I'll give this movie a hearty 9 on the 1-10 scale. Praise Jesus!!!

Having biblical knowledge of the end times is definately an advantage for this film as it would be hard to understand else. The good thing is that the gospel is put accross better in this film by saying we receive the gift of salvation and not adding some back door works like making Jesus lord of you re life (discipleship).

A prayer of commitment saves nobody.
You must trust in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation.
Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.

That’s how I feel about my mother. She died in 2012 and unless she accepted the Lord Jesus right before she passed away she is sadly not in heaven. It’s hard for me to deal with and I can only hope she accepted Him at the last moment - but I have no reason to believe she did. I wasn’t saved until 9 years after my mom died.

Also, there are millions of Catholics praying privately and at every Mass for the living, and the departing souls, as well as for the "souls gone before us marked with the sign of faith and those whose fate is known to God alone" ( some of whom are in Purgatory. Now, you may not believe in Purgatory, but that does not mean it doesn't exist. Some don't believe in God, yet God exists.)
🤔A true story is told, one of the saints I think: a woman's son died after a life of sin. Convinced he was in hell, she was inconsolable and knelt in much tears and heartbreak before our Blessed Mother in the Chapel. Our Saviour, through His Mum, granted her, as I recall, a vision of her son accepting Jesus in the moments as he lay dying. He was saved literally in his dying breath.
That mum left the Chapel transformed with great gladness.
The same may have happened to your mum, a final-breath conversion. So, in faith, we'll praise God and pray for all the souls in Purgatory. If she is already in Heaven, she can pray for us. Meanwhile, our prayers will go to help someone else in need as God sees fit. No prayer is ever wasted. Even the scraps are collected up and possibly fill 'twelve baskets' or should I say, twelve zillion rooms in the heavenly mansion?🙂💕✝️

Russell Doughten was wanting to make the 5th and last movie, of this series, but investors were hard to find in the early 90's.
The last, 5th, movie was supposed to be about the 6th Bowl Judgement and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. I wish I had the money, I'd have freely given it just to have the last movie made.
There is a movie, which goes from just before the Rapture, to the Second Coming of Christ. All of the 7 years in one movie. It is called:
"Years of the Beast" 1981, with Gary Bayer, Sarah Rush, Alana Rader, Jerry Houser. Great movie, and one of my favorite Christian-Rapture movies.

This part of the series delivered the best explanation about Salvation, and what it means, and that Salvation through Jesus Christ IS a gift one needs to accept to be born again. Millions do not understand that. And no other Christian Rapture film has ever explained it so beautifully, and simply.

Sadly, I wonder how many people will say, 'If only I had excepted Christ as my saviour before the rapture, then I woudn't have to go through this time of tribulation. It would have been so easy then.' As Patty said in a distant thunder. I pray they will accept Him then. It has to come from the heart, not just said. All of us can be born again by having our sins washed away through the "Blood of the Lamb", Jesus Christ, and believe in His Resurrection from the dead, after Jesus proclaimed victory over death so that each of us can have eternal life in God's Holy presence, with Christ at His right hand.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior years before I ever heard of these movies. I'm very glad I did, as I was brought in with love and mercy rather than fearmongering. I believe the rapture will happen some day, but I wonder about people who accept Jesus as a response to fear. Nothing against the movies, they are well done and the story pulls me in (though I preferred the first two with Patty Dunning).
I am so excited for the rapture - it really seems like it will be this year finally in 2023 - but only God knows
