I'm 42 I watched this for the first time when I was 9 years old and have never forgotten it. I am watching it with my 9 year old now!
You are correct, unfortunately. USA is being invaded by millions from all over the world, USA is persecuting Christians, infrastructure is being destroyed, Cities, States and USA on verge of bankruptcy, Military supplies at dangerously low levels, lawlessness abounds, TRUTH has become lies and lies have become truth, scary advancements and implementation of AI, nihilism abounds, history is being rewritten (destroyed), rampant sexual immorality and they're after the children, destruction of family values, "they" are destroying the Constitution, they want us to eat bugs no meat, dieing off of citizens who took the pricks, and on and and on. The worst is yet to come.

Hairstyles and fashion maybe, but the movie sure nailed the one-worlders. "We don't want to infringe on your rights" they say, just before they infringe on your rights. "And Just as soon as this crisis is over, you can go back to your national independence.," just before they call for a global i.d. and start cracking down on dissenters. Sounds a lot like today imho.
My grandpa was Donald W. Thompson, he directed and produced this movie, sadly he passed away in 2019, I think it's so cool that so many people found Christ through this movie, even the main character found Christ through this movie. God bless

Somebody gave me a VHS tape of this movie in the mid-90s when I became a youth pastor I showed it to my youth group and this started movie night. Quite a few young people got saved because of movie night and lot of this stuff is coming true right now
What a blessing your Grandpa was, he really did the work of the Lord with this movie! A lot of people gave their lives to Christ after watching it and for those of us who are already saved, it helps to strengthen our faith. Sorry to hear about his passing but the silver lining is that he's happy, safe and sound in the loving hands of the Lord. 🙏🏽

I saw “Survival,” and he must’ve been a real kook. Did he really think sending a tiny child on a 35-mile journey across the desert was moral? The Christian characters in that film were both criminal and insane.

saw this movie when I was college student in Iowa 1974, now I am 70 and this movie was low budget but really cool. Had a major impact on me. Got baptized two months later and welcomed the Lord into my life..

I remember watching this during a church retreat, when one of the cabins we were staying in had an old TV and VHS with a bunch of old tapes lying around. Scared the crap out of all of us, and left an impact that lasted a lifetime. So glad the entire series has been preserved here.
I encourage you to study scripture for yourself and remove anything you've been taught. Here's a few scriptures. The coming and those sealed The Revelation chapters 6 and 7. First Corinthians chapter 15 last trumpet revealed in The Revelation chapter 11. First Thessalonians 4:13-17 the dead rise after the millenniul reign The Revelation chapter 20. The wicked are taken out and destroyed Isaiah chapter 13 Mathew chapter 13. At some point we're taken after the last trumpet to the sea of glass The Revelation 15:2. Eternity is on the new earth The Revelation chapter 21.
I am a believer in Christ and the plan of salvation and saw this movie at my church in the early eighty's.
I just does not sit well with me the impression the movie gives. I don't believe that our Heavenly Father was TS us to run to Him out of fear like a fire insurance policy if that makes sense.
I believe that the Lord wants our hearts and faith to be given to Him out of love and free will. I'm not trying to cut down the fact that the movie could have truly helped some become saved later on in life but I just don't think in fear is going to cut it.

Our church showed this to us back when we were kids in the 80s. This and A distant thunder, back to back. We all got saved that night. It’s nice to see it again. A little refresher course.👍🏾✝️
I saw this the year it came out. It was shown at my church youth group and it had a profound impact on me. Watching it NOW in 2023, and seeing all of the prophesy being fulfilled before our eyes, I can only conclude that we are very very close to the hour. The fear u feel when standing on edge at the top of the empire state building is a healthy fear warning u that u are in danger and if u take one more step, the law of gravity will pull your skeleton and flesh to the ground at rapid speed and splatter u across the pavement like pancake batter. This movie has haunted me all my life. I'm 49 now and still remember each scene in my head. It has prepared me for the days we are living in. Stand strong my brothers and sisters may we fight the good fight and remain faithful till the end as this is not our home. Our home is with our Lord. *JESUS is COMING SOON!* Around 2 years ago I was out riding my bike along a spot that I'm not too familiar with; I was intently focused on the sidewalk to avoid the pieces of glass, so as to not ride over them. Out of nowhere, I felt that "not home" feeling and didn't like it; as if I am alien to this place. So I started to tell myself *"Well, Jesus is..."* (with me wherever I go) but before I could finish that sentence aloud, my head involuntarily turned to the right and saw a big sign in the grass: "COMING SOON!", thus completing my sentence aloud: "Well, Jesus is *COMING SOON!"*
Quickly I burst into laughter at the timing of this. It was *seamless.* So I went home and called my mother on the phone and told her about it. She quickly said to me: *"That's confirmation!"* - As *soon as she said that,* the memory was brought to my conscious mind that I prayed, *just two days before,* asking the Lord if He really told my mother: *"Soon, child, soon."* bass / baritone range, and cannot scream even close to that pitch in the dream.
I learned later in the day that, just 2 days before my dream, *NY* lit up the *One World Trade* center building *PINK,* _IN CELEBRATION OF_ being able to kill babies in the womb at 9+ months! I was shocked (and disgusted) at how this was the confirmation to my dream. Will we be here to see this? I assumed so, or else I see no other reason why the Lord would show me this dream. With La Palma erupting now, and many have said for decades that if it falls into the ocean, it could cause a tsunami to hit the east coast of the U.S., this might be the tsunami that was shown to me in my dream. Only time will tell, but the timing is amazing. Only a couple of years later this is happening! I believe the tsunami has a connection to the timing of Jesus coming to rapture us out. It could be the sign!

I've been born again since 1996 (at age 17) and my mother has been born again since the early-mid 1970s (her early-mid 20s). We've both had multiple experiences and words from the Lord over the years (about current situations at those times) but *never about anything concerning end times.* Only in the last couple of years did He wake us up to this. As campy and low budget as it is, you can't turn away. And I think this series is biblically true to scripture. I love the mans dedication and vision to put this film together. He truley did his part to win souls for Jesus.

I saw this in my church as a kid about 7 years old. Scared me to death but I never forgot about it. Last year I gave my life to Jesus and I'm just glad I did it in time! Please, if you haven't given your life to Jesus, do it before it's too late bc whether you believe in Jesus or not, He is coming back to take his people. The Bible says "every knee shall bow , every tongue shall confess" .

@Islayman Jesus didn’t stand anyone up. He fulfilled the prophecies found in the Olivet Discourse in AD 70 with the destruction of Jerusalem. Dispensationalism/Left Behind theology is only about 2 centuries old. It’s just the popular view, but I would argue--not the biblical one. Partial Preterism is a biblical eschatology. Revelation is largely about the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.

I saw the movie in a youth group back in the early 90's, and recent times have me seeking it out again. I couldn't even remember the name of the movie...but did some searching and found it. As teenagers, we made fun of the cheesy effects and fashions of the movie (as teenagers will do)...but as I've gone through adulthood, I've thought back to this movie many times as I see how the world (and out country) have developed since then.

I watched this movie for the first time today and I remember the opening song in the church service from something else (or occasion). Anyway, I'm a born again believer washed in the blood of Jesus and the movie still gave me chills when "unity" was searching for the girl! And when it was just a dream and she had to relive everything....Ugh! I was screaming at her!
I sang that song in church in the 70s. My impression after watching this movie for the first time now, is that something is wrong with the pretrib rapture idea. People who are left behind should be able to pray, repent, and refuse the mark and accept Jesus. I believe there will be a remnant who will come to faith during the tribulation. The shepherd would leave the flock to go find the ONE lost sheep. HE doesn't want any to perish and would have mercy on those who seek him.

@@peachBloom he certainly did in my case, Peachy. 😉😎. Revelation ch. 7 shows the sending of 144,000 evangelists 'from the 12 tribes of Israel'. Ch. 11 has 2 witnesses preaching in Jerusalem. @@jennifercleveland5703 I saw it at 9 years old. At 58 years old, I still remember how it terrorized me. I awoke up alone in the house a week later and had my first panic attack. I thought my parents had been taken up and that I had been left behind. They were actually next door visiting neighbors. I still resent that I was made to watch this crock of crap. This movie combined with all the other religious BS scare tactics I was exposed to growing up contributed to my diagnosis of PTSD.

As an adult I am still a Christian but for many many many years this movie pushed me away from religion, unlike so many of these people saying it drew them closer to it. I wanted nothing to do with the religion that was talking about scary stuff like this. I know it sounds stupid to have P TSD from a movie but that's pretty much what I felt for years. And same thing I thought my mom had been raptured up and I couldn't find her. I may have said this in my comment my preacher even said he went through the same thing after watching it and that it's basically meant to scare kids out of hell.

My parents were southern baptists from the Bible belt so you can just imagine the things I was taught. Even playing a card game of gold fish was a sin. Dancing was a sin and I loved to dance. I'm so glad I didn't inflict this on my own children

Back in 72 our church was bussed to a larger church to watch this movie and talk about it. Not gonna lie this movie freaked me out as a 10yr old. I hope I live long enough to share this with my grands when they reach 10-12

Watched this movie in church prolly 40 years ago. Never noticed they had a mistake in the movie till now. When those people were in line to get the "Mark" one couple had a small baby which wouldn't happen. God would have taken that baby.

I don't know if Patty Dunning has done any interviews about the movie or not but for the most part all the actors were excellent. (Keep in mind this is a 70's movie.). Someone said she is a physical therapist but maybe she is married to Steven Dunning who is a physical therapist in Iowa. This movie deserves high remarks for being well made.

I'm here to deal with some of the trauma I'm still carrying around in my 52-year-old body as a result of watching this as a loving, earnest, sincere, Jesus-loving little gay boy in the early 80s. Multiple trips down the aisle to "make sure" I was saved, calling out for my parents every night to make sure that I hadn't been "left behind." Ugh. I know the creators of this film had good intentions, as did my parents and my church leaders. And it caused so much harm to so many people. Both things are true, all at the same time. I hope and pray that those of us who live with religious trauma can find peace.

I watched this movie in Sunday school as a kid and it gave me panic attacks and nightmares for years.
I wonder if Patty Dunning knows there's a resurgence of interests taking place about that movie on TH-cam and what she'd think about it.

This movie traumatized me as a child. Anytime I couldn’t find my parents for more than a couple of minutes images from it flashed in my head. The scariest part is the notion that even someone who thinks they are saved could not be, and as a young believer it left me with an unshakable feeling of doubt and subsequently, terror. It’s classified as “evangelical Christian horror” for a reason. I’m glad that the church has generally moved away from conversion through fear (in other words, coercion), especially when it comes to young children. Looking back it doesn’t sit right with me.

It had the same horrifying impact on me too growing up. Also living with a dad that constantly reminded us that we are living in the last days, going so far to claim that the rapture and tribulation will happen in our lifetime. He is a doomsday monster. This film is abuse when shown to children, even the brainwashing theoplogy of end times is child abuse and has serious psychological ramifications.
I grew up in a "christian" Independant Fundamental Baptist cult. As an adult, I delved into the Bible, I was very studious on learning and understanding the Bible as God would want me to understand it. Finally at the age of 44, I started questioning everything I was told was the truth. I endured a crisis of faith while deconverting but at the end of my 3 month long deconversion out of the faith, I have a free mind, best feeling ever to think for yourself. I would never change that. COnsider questioning everything you were told to believe, trust yourself to find your own answers, use reasoning and rational, you won't be disappointed. All the fears of hell and doomsday completely diminishes after fully deconverting. Claim your mind for freedom and enjoy true mental peace as a result.
