Fun fact: the last time an English team beat Ferencvaros was Leeds United in 1969. Archie Gray's great uncle Eddie Gray was in the starting lineup for Leeds that day!
Did that game bring anyone else back 10 or so years watching Spurs? Team full of young players where you watch and think some will be superstars and others might not make the grade, away in Eastern Europe in front of a ferocious home support, not an overly tactical match. I loved it.
Always look forward to these videos, I’ve definitely calmed down and learned to be bit more impartial on said results and players performances after hearing you talk Ali. Think this is something we all need as tortured Spurs fans down the years 😂
Ange always said if they are good enough they play and true to his word we saw him get it just right. Performance was a bit shaky at times but we got out of there with 3 points and European experience for the young lads. Can't ask for more, just need to beat Brighton at the weekend to keep the consistency coming. Always enjoy listening to your content.
Nice way to start Saturday. Watching Spurs was fun. Micky Moore looks really good. So much positive and confidences. Gray is just a wow. Everything he does seems to look so easy to him. Fans and some pundits will say Spurs struggled but don't mention Spurs started with teens in an away came. Spurs have been beaten in games likes these before playing the full team. To think there is two more young talent coming in Jan. Spurs on a role now.
I am really excited for the future of our club I don’t know why, but this team just feels different I truly believe we will get silverware with Big Ang if not this season definitely in the future thanks for the upload 👍🏻
Ali ! You’re right that volley pass by Pedro to Solanke was a thing of beauty! What a ball ! Pity that wasn’t an assist cause it would be assist of the season .
I actually think our youngsters had one of the best games possible for their learning curve. A hostile atmosphere in a European away trip. I think all of them handled it very well overall. Whatever you think about ultras and torches in the home ends, that’s what it looks like in many European countries and I reckon that can be tough to play in if you’re not used to it but as said, I think they all handled it really well
Ange seemed very upbeat during that conference - the words were tumbling out at times; I haven't seen him like that since he first joined. He sees something special happening, and that makes me feel very optimistic indeed. Thanks as always Al.
Agreed Gray’s football IQ is off the charts for an 18 year old ! I think that’s cause of footballing family he comes from. He’s getting coached at home as well no doubt
His confidence in CB was off the chart.. had an amazing moment, chest control under pressure... But that's the kind of decision making from an 18yr old that could go wrong.. definitely should be given a mf role and I'm sure he will be when needed
Spurs being the 1st english team to win in Ferencváros for 55 years sounds impressive. For info Wolves in 71/72 (2-2), Liverpool in 74/75 (0-0), Newcastle in 96/97 (3-2), and Milwall in 04/05 (3-1) have since played there.
Spot on about playing teams in cups we’re expected to beat, people have to remember it is their biggest and most must win games of the season, we cant go into games expecting to to win we have to earn the win just like against any opponent
On Mikey Moore, what better Manager could he have than Ange? Remember, between 2000 and 2007 Ange was Australia's U17 / U20 coach so who better to develop him and all the other kids coming through. On Timo, completely agree with Ange. He's not far off shutting a lot of people up. Maybe Sunday?
Thanks for such another energetic video, Alasdair. Very impressive displays from all the teenagers. My collective noun for Spurs’ youngsters would be “Ange’s young assassins” ready to put fear into the opposition and “kill off” other teams. I felt so sorry for Timo the other night - he looked devasted to waste the one-on-one chance. It was a relief to hear Ange vigorously defend him in the presser as he could easily spiral into depression. He needs support if he is going to come. good again.
Ange's most recent press conference was great. Long answers and he gave good insight into his philosophy. I think Grey and Bergvall are part of his quest to solve the club trained issue at this club. They will have to be registered next year as well and then they can be B list for a year and then club trained. Add Yang Min Hyuk and Vuskovic to that list as well. I think Ange will be hoping that Donley is ready next year for the first team
The best thing was that there did not appear to be a drop off in performance even with 4 kids in. I think we can now be confident of bringing subs on. The kids are starting to feel that they are now a real part of the squad. This is great for the future.
I was willing that Timo Goal in feel he's just like Johnson once he gets one herwill get a few but I wonder what coming of right after that miss has done to already shot confidence?
Interesting to hear about Mickey Moore in the reception. I think it’s healthy that they stay in that academy for long as possible really important that he continues to have fun and be with his mates ! He’s a kid so let him be a kid for as long as possible . Clever and regardless how good he is he’s a kid first . Great performance all cones so naturally to him amazing really 🤩
He's too good to stay with his age group... Rooney excelled as a 16yr old because he was good enough.. Moore is in that category because he's already got the physique and ability, as did Rooney.. he has to now just get used to the pressure of first team football, that's where he needs most development
I’m pretty sure that Johnson’s goal went clean through the defenders legs. I’ll watch it again ! Great goal with his weaker foot ! So pleased for the lad I’ve backed him from start especially cause he was Ange’s first signing and wanted him! Pretty sure he knows more than the coward mugs online giving him abuse ! Someone please explain how abusing a player on the team you support helps in any way ? So weird to me
I criticised him as he deserved it. He NEVER took hir FB on choosing sideways backwards sideways bollocks and WHEN he got to actually cross a ball, it was poor. You can't disagree with that. I'm delighted for him now as his confidence has returned and made a difference to his performances. Ange has backed him throughout and THAT has helped him. Finally we're seeing a player who Ange obviously knew was there!👏
Get in Ali, love a Saturday update from you, thank you as always for the consistency. Loving the optimism, feel something special happening, hopefully we get a result against Brighton. Oh, shout out to Johnson as well, 5 in a row 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
People dismiss the difference “form & confidence” make, playing a team who have a 100% record in their league and at home is not going to be easy, we are snobbish in the way we look at other leagues and people forget that it’s a team sport and a unit can be a lot more than the sum of its parts. It was a very good result and timo did well in everything but his finishing. He will come good if we support him I’m sure, he has the tools, he just needs the confidence to make the right choices at the right times COYS
We sure have a bunch of talented young players on our team. One of them, Luca Vuscovic, will be joining next year and he looks like a generational talent. Scored 2 goals in his last game and plays CB. Ally, could you say a few words about Vuscovic during the international break?
I thought all the teenagers did really well with Brennan Johnson putting the icing on the cake with his 5th goal in 5 games. Great job again, take of yourself and enjoy.
I wonder if Timo does and special training on scoring situations and positions. To simulate what to do when he finds himself in a 1 on 1 situation with a keeper and how to make the best decision in such position. His all round game is very good and he just needs to bang in the goals to make him unstoppable
I have no doubt he does, and I bet he looks like a different man in front of goal in training. Simulation isn't what he needs though, in my opinion he has been psychologically dented by his premier league past. I reckon everytime he's infront of goal on matchday he is transported to the worst possible headspace for the situation and the result keeps digging the mental pit deeper. He just needs a couple good ones in competitive situations and I genuinely believe he could leave this behind him (in the ways that matter, the stigma will follow him forever unfortunately). Clearly Ange believes he can do that otherwise he wouldn't be back this season. That's enough for me to back him.
We played some great football. Jhonson at it again . Really hoping we can make 6 out 6 on Sunday. The younger players did really good . Great video coys
Good luck on your run Alistair and another fine podcast and I still feel that performance against Coventry went someway to turning our performances around ❤
Sam Matterface was talking as though Spurs had lost the game BEFORE a ball was kicked! I sent him an X message pointing that out, he was so annoying that I turned the commentary off!
Don’t want to be negative but Vicario stating all the Europa games makes an even bigger mockery of Spence not being in the squad to accommodate 4 keepers…an absolutely bizarre decision.
Gold, Can you ask ange in press conferece if he finished the first half 2-0, he should change to defensive tactics in the second half? He always keeps a high defensive line, no matter the score. I hope he changes his tactics to suit the situation.
He has no plan b which is what will prove to be his undoing , sadly. Romero isn’t playing for him anymore , that apathy will soon spread . (Hope I’m wrong)
Also forgetting we played 18 games on the trot last season without conceding one... Then it only became a problem when teams started pushing the boundaries of the GK fouling rules
For the first time in a really long time we don’t have to worry about the squad when key members are missing in attack (I.e someone of the like of Son etc) I can’t wait for people to rejoin the squad and see if can keep the momentum
Dude you have to pitch "sons of angearchy" to ange about the young ones. I take no credit, I've seen it on insta and reddit now. Anges angels was super wack
I think UEFA required Spurs to use the 3rd kit because the second kit is blue but striped. For someone who is colorblind it could be hard to distinguish between two striped kits.
Strange the commentary over here (USA) was complimentary/realistic. British based commentary tends towards the assumption that catastrophe is always around the corner ( or goal kick) !!
Ali I’m not sure how press conferences work but I was wondering if you get to talk to Ange off the record because I think with the Spence situation I think what he’s trying to do is give him a bit of adversity to see if he throws his toys out of the pram so to speak and if he doesn’t he is looking at keeping him for the long term benefit of Tottenham
You've named four of the greatest players to ever play the game though. Exceptions to the rule as they say. Also more chance of burnout in today's game.

Hi Ali, how are you? Thanks so much for the video. You mentioned that you missed the press conference for the Brighton match because you were still in Hungary. This got me thinking. In some of the American sports, specifically baseball, I think the media gets to travel on the teams flight. Does this happen or has it happened in football?
