Kristi, I started CrossFit about 2 1/2 months ago. You seem to always post videos about things that I struggle with and I just wanted to thank you for taking the time along with your husband to explain and demonstrate the movements. It’s so helpful! Every day getting better! 🤙🏻❤️🏋🏼♀️
Such excellent progression outlined and so much helpful detail- you are exceptionally good at these instructional videos! I've learned so much from these. Thanks so much!
This is a GREAT explanation of handstand push-ups and the proper progression towards them! Most instructional videos on this movement either ignore many of the steps or reinforce improper position on either the handstand or the pike push-up. I’ve always enjoyed watching you as an athlete, and now I’m pleased to see you as a capable instructor.
I don't leave comments on TH-cam but this video deserves it 👏 🙌 👌 I stink at all gymnastics movements but this video makes a lot of sense and love the way you broke everything down. Thanks for sharing!! Can't wait to tackle this tomorrow!!
excelent video! handstand push ups are something I'm a little afraid of... I know I have the strength to do it, I've been a couple years doing CrossFit and its something I'm afraid of, but I'm trying! I'll do those progressions, thank you!
This has been a good video. I can do four free-standing HSPU, but I realise through watching this that my form is bad, despite having good numbers in the strict press. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your video!! After already struggling with pike push-ups and doing a lot of your progression work since April I have just tried to do some handstand push ups and I even got two of them in a row! Thanks to you and Pat😊 you're always an inspiration for my housband and me!
Kristi, can you create a playlist of all of your how-to instructional videos on your channel? They're so well done and excellent I would really like to watch them all. I'm curious if you have one for the pull up I'm working hard on that right now.
thnk u so much, I just finished a set of HSUP and guess what I put pression both on my head and my neck : c thnk again for the video!! very instructive!!!
Very good video ! thank you so much. I can do 8-10 hand stand push ups for multiple sets, but I was getting lower back pain, and not feeling it was a comfortable movement. I can now see it' because my head wasn't coming down in the right place, and I was bending my head back as I push away from the floor which was tipping my pelvis, and I wasn't keeping my midline tight ! Thank you for the video!
now sub'd... I can tell there was quite a bit of work (editing, script, flow, etc) put in (I'm familiar with the amount of work that can go into videos) just want to acknowledge that point with a heartfelt appreciation, and big Thank you for taking the time to make all the recent educational videos. found your channel via video recommendation on muscle ups.
Kristi Eramo thanks for asking, truly i have no problem with Strict HSPU I can do max rep 23 strict HSPU, my problem with Bar MU but I started practicing your tips.👍🏽👍🏽
I love your videos, I teach cross to a lot people who have been just a month, and this videos are so easy and cool 🙌🏽, it is always good to see good things and always learning new way from different coachs. 👋 from Mty. Mexico 🇲🇽
This is the first time to see a TH-cam video for you and I immediately subscribed. Your way of explaining how to gradually learn how to do it is something that I have never seen before. Big thanks and another big like.
This is a pretty good instructional! I’m impressed. But you’re going to lose 6-9 percent of your pushing power in the pike press if you don’t keep a neutral neck, and aim the crown of the head to the ground. I see it every day
Great explanation with lots of slow progression movements. Thank you Kristi 😃 Hope you can do a video on hand stand hold and walk, I've been practicing both 😃
wow I love it. This is going to be a challenge However I like how you break it down, makes it much easier to digest and make it doable in our minds. Guys love your tutorials videos, Dyi!!! Need some recommendations for a 50 year old female who wants to build muscle while doing tons of running biking and swimming! Which one your programs would you recommend?
Thanks, Kristi & Patrick. I've been working on strict HSPU for the past 18 mos or so. It took awhile to get comfortable getting upside as an over 50 yrs old!! Just started working on kipping HSPU to two mats. Your tips are excellent and good memory cues, too. Any chance of a rope climb video??
I'm so excited to be able to make my very first handstand push-up after seeing this. As always, you are the best and so good at explaining things🙌🏻💪🏻 thanks a lot kristi👏😘
Hey Kristi, your videos are always so great, informative and well organised. I have been doing Crossfit on and off for a few years now but still can't seem to master push ups. Please could you possibly make a video on ways to build strength in the muscle groups that are needed for push ups? Thanks again for all your brilliant videos!
Loved the explanation, the detail and the tips to keep the right posture and safe spine on the movement. Time to crush those hspu!! Thanks a lot ma’am, from a fan of yours and your channel 🙌🏻✨💪🏻
I just found your channel and subscribed. You're a really good coach, and I like that you use your husband to help out with the demonstrations. I got a lot out of this video and the muscle up video. You guys are obviously in great shape, so thanks for sharing your expertise with the rest of us. Looking forward to the next video. I really like the bodyweight strength training videos so please keep them coming. Thanks!
You guys do THE BEST instructional videos in the biz, just do a couple of rehearsals before you film so Pat calms down a bit 🤣🤣😎 (Heppner does the best analysis, as a comparison. Team Ritchey is just clean fun .)
Thanks Kristi, great video! I am however, hoping that you can give some information about (how to determine) optimal hand placement...distance from the wall (beyond "6 to 12 inches"), distance between hands, and hand angle. Is it just what feels most comfortable and strongest/easiest? It seems like a lot of the Games athletes try to place their hands as wide and far from the wall as the standards will allow! I'm guessing that you're going to tell me that training (for function) and competition are two different animals! Thanks again, Kristi!
Yes what feels most comfortable and easiest and strongest for you. Some people going so far and wide are truing to shorten range of motion to make the reps faster. I personally like to angle my hands because I do not have the best wrist mobility. So instead of my fingers pointing back to the wall I slightly angle them ab 45 degrees and this really helps me get a better pressing position. Also everyones arm length is slightly different. I would play with a hand position just outside of shoulder width to start about 8-12in from the wall and see how that feels!
Kristi incredible content as always! I love your videos!! My main problem is kicking up to a handstand 😔😔 I’ve watched every single video but still afraid of it..if I have assistance, I can hold a handstand, I think it’s not a strength issue rather than fear..my wrists are weak and I’m afraid I will collapse..any tips??
Thank you for sharing the information on the different variations of the HSPU. I am having issues getting upside down. I am trying the donkey kick but can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. I REALLY like the partnered assistance HSPU. Don't you go straight down on a pike press? I thought it would be okay to end straight down on a pike press. If I feel comfortable with the modifications of a HSPU, wouldn't I want to go to the donkey kick as the next step towards getting my 1st HSPU I didn't realize we could use a band to help get strength for a HSPU.
I got a bet going w/ a friend of mine who wants to learn a freestanding HSPU. I say she has to do them facing the wall, she says nope, it hurts her back, it'll just take a little longer to learn. Who's right?
II’ve tried HSPU but I come crashing down on my head so it hurts and and the head moves so the neck hurts as well…. I remember doing negative pull-ups when I learned them 7 years ago. Perhaps that is the way to learn HSPU as well….
I love the way she explains each movement. Very articulate and perfessional
Professional bro

Best SHSPU video on TH-cam! How you would recommend to sub high rep SHSPU how low rep in wods! Thanks!
Scale the amount of reps. If its a fast workout, keep it in that target range. then after hit some extras!
This is an awesome video. Thanks so much!!
So glad you liked it!
