Maybe it only has a taste for organs that you can survive damage to at least for a time. Jennifer could have lost all of the following and still feasably (or at least theoretically) lived: Gallbladder, Spleen, Appendix, one or both kidneys (though she'd be on dialysis and/or get donors, and would need QUICK medical attention), one of her two lungs, pretty much her entire reproductive system (which would really suck, but all we technically need is for her to be alive and conscious), her colon (though colostomy bags are very unpleasant business), her bladder (though you need a bag for pee too in that case), her stomach (will require an awful diet), tonsils, and thyroid gland. Additionally, the liver is amazingly resilient and even regenerative, and could remain functioning and even regrow to some extent if the nasty worm partially damaged it. In some of these cases it might only be feasable to live if the organ was removed surgically in a safe environment, though. Of course, getting all of these damaged or destroyed in short order does pose a lot of risk of internal bleeding and other related complications. Definitely Rick would need to call 911 the very SECOND his adventure was over as his wife would doubtlessly be in critical condition. Point is, the game never specified *which* of her organs the boreworm was 'feasting' on; some organs you can live just fine without, others you can carry on without but only with medical intervention and/or permanent lifestyle changes.

I think it's supposed to be a sort of "metaphorical" fight. Rick's not actually getting into a physical battle with the mask so much as it is trying to take over his mind and use him as a vessel to do his bidding. The fight with the mask is him trying to fight off its possession, and defeating it with a clear head (AKA, both family members live) gives him the resolve to defeat it, and because the mask "feeds on human suffering," it has nothing to reform from as Rick has saved what matters most to him and is not suffering.
What actually happens is that, if you follow the first game and the 2010's remake story, the mask does a deal with Rick in wich he has to save his family in order to take the mask off, although it can be destroyed when the Splatterhouse is destroyed, but in this last game in particular, the mask cannot take your powers off, because you hadn't saved your family yet, they're still in danger, so he cannot break the deal, that's why he fights you in the first place and doesn't just abandon you.

A videogame like this is how you make a "You're running out of time!" scenario actually fucking panic inducing. In a movie, you know the hero is going to get there in time at the last second, it's a stupid, over-done cliché. There isn't any tension, since you are only watching it. But in a videogame? You can ACTUALLY fail. It's all up to YOU, the player, if they live or die. YOU are in Rick's shoes. That's fucking tension.
@HunterRyosuke Exactly. I have nothing against more violent and "adult" games, (one of my favourite games ever is Dead Rising. I want to make a video about that) but they can become a bit much after a while. Whenever people say Nintendo make games for children, I always say that they actually make games for everyone, and you can hardly say a game is suitable for all ages if it has decapitations and the like, right?
It's funny I am watching this, since I really don't like games where aliens or body-possessing whatevers are involved, especially if there are very descriptive details of what's going on...bleeggh. I always get the creeps. I stay away from alien/monster related games if I can, and definitely alien movies. And yet here I am. It's just secondhand, so I can tough it out...
@@MegaMrbeta developers used to do it all the time, but I guess they did it because the player would be curious to know, putting more hours into the game because the only way the player could actually KNOW the ending is by actually doing It or hearing it from other people

She sure looks like she's cowering alright.
The ending is different at the another point. If David or/and Jenifer dies the mask will says that it will comes back. But if David and Jenifer survived, the mask says: " can't see, can't hear, Im dying", and shattered on pieces
2:52 that music is so peaceful...I wish there was an extended version :(
I think the level 2 (times running out) music always creeped me out. Especially seeing the Boreworm go through her flesh like that.
Is it me or the very bad ending is the only way to see Rick's face?
@HunterRyosuke Exactly. I have nothing against more violent and "adult" games, (one of my favourite games ever is Dead Rising. I want to make a video about that) but they can become a bit much after a while. Whenever people say Nintendo make games for children, I always say that they actually make games for everyone, and you can hardly say a game is suitable for all ages if it has decapitations and the like, right?
Didn't mean to sound critical mate, you're doing a great job. Love the series.
And that's how alone in the dark started.
In case of panic needed, watch this video.
Talk about doing creepy right... this game was a masterpiece in that sense. The cutscenes are SO chilling, just seeing them...
Thanks man! That will be hunting me in my worst nightmares!
... What I've just seen, cannot be unseen.
Ah .. 7 years old me playing this terrifying masterpiece .. that explains a lot of things
"Too late" is an understatement.
NOVEMBER IS ALMOST OVER.
Looks like the head of Lord Zed
@XOctavius1984 I'm certain it has no effect on anything. There's a time limit in Stage 5 as well, and that running out has no effect as well. I think.
I'm still surprised he never showed the secret cutscene which plays if you basically speedrun the first level
10:19 "Oh well, we can f*ck to get a new one.”
😂😂😂
There are a few things worse than this game's endings... besides, it can be reeeeally hard to prevent having a bad ending
I don't like games that what ever choice u make it changes the winding or there could of been another way to get t o a point
@@MegaMrbeta developers used to do it all the time, but I guess they did it because the player would be curious to know, putting more hours into the game because the only way the player could actually KNOW the ending is by actually doing It or hearing it from other people
And even more, face in the third cutscene in Stage 2 is used in MANY screamers. It's just the creepiest thing EVER.
"Daddy, where's Mommy?"
"His family is just a memory."
jesus, and i thought mother 3's ending was depressing
"Jennifer begins to smell" was not a good way to end the first line
Mask: I will continue to exist!
(Explodes out of existance)
5:50 ...Welp I guess I’m sleeping with the lights on tonight.
This was pretty creepy... nice upload!
Coincidence is, i'm watching this after my halloween party at school. XD
That bit about the Boreworm is going to give me nightmares...
this series cannot be complete without the bad endings of the X-com games.
If you're looking for a creepy ending for your next episode, try Terranigma.
The very last part of that game is seriously dark and depressing.
Now this is my perfect happy birthday present: a new creepy bad endings video :D
I finished stage 2 to the boss room about 1:40 minutes remaining and the game showed message you did not save Jennifer in time but i killed the boss quickly that 1 minute time remaining and the game showed the bore worm stop sending ghastly wave on Jennifer body i continued the game and play everything right and i got best ending games i think it dose matter that you finish stage 2 with time remaining even you arrive to boss room in 2 minutes remaining or less
I was always curious what happens when the timer runs out with the last boss.
The music makes this game 10x more eeryie.
You know if you hurry really fast through stage one jennifer wont have the boreworm in her body.
It would have been more effective if after he says he’s all alone you hear a single gunshot. Still pretty bad.
The Boreworm time limit isn't even fair because it kills Jennifer when there's still a minute and half left!
Rick Taylor's quite a courageous man.
