Regarding the water resistance, I have pulled apart many DJI drones, I’m an electronics engineer, so people bring their smashed drones to me to fix, anyway back to the water resistance, the boards have a reasonable coating of conformal coat which makes them resistant to moisture, the Air 2S in particular has a very thick coating on the ESC board and a descent coating on the main board, I was caught in the rain 3km out and the drone flew back without missing a beat. However some drones like the Mavic 3 which has an air intake on the top have air flow holes in not so desirable locations. The mini 3 pro has air vents right in front, the air 2S is low at the front for its air vents, so I would say the mini 3 pro is not something you would want to fly in the rain but should withstand some fog, clouds etc.
Yet I've flown mini 2 in some harsh rain and it handled like a champ. Getting drizzle on the sensor glass mid flight stinks though.... that's when I come back home and land
@@aeroflopper what a ripper of an idea, how on earth didn’t I ever think or hear of it, arghh so simple, so quick, so easy, so effective, I hung around engineers that was my problem we would find a way to to complicate our lives. And just yesterday I had my Mavic 3 hovering outside (still had plenty of batteries full charge so I discharge to storage voltages 3.8-3.85v per cell always all batteries) and I was watching something on TH-cam and my girlfriends daughter comes in grabs the remote (she’s a really good drone pilot) and as she lands the drone runs outside as she was saying why are you flying in this storm, my face went from calm to fear in a heart beat, she came in with a soaked drone and she was also drenched in those few seconds she was outside, I can tell you that even when I removed the battery the water was half way up it, I spent the next 5 mins with a microfibre cloth drying it, then popped in the next battery and hovered it (inside) and it didn’t miss a beat, the following 2 batteries also perfect. I’m so glad that they have conformal coatings on their new range of drones, but I can’t believe it was in the corner of my eye and I didn’t notice it. I don’t fly in the rain unless it’s one of my custom built drones that has been made waterproof but it is good to know so I don’t panic that even the Mavic 3 is fine. Just on the odd chance there was any moisture left in the drone I left it out on the table, I’m looking at it checked the lens (oh by the way the zoom lens fogged up between the clear cover and the camera glass which the microfibre cloth dried in the first swipe) but that was the extent of the issue, it looks fine and the battery that got soaked turns on and off as per normal. But anyway I digress. Brilliant idea you came up with, thanks for sharing.
@@Matanumi yeah the mini 2 is a fantastic drone, has so many pluses about it, (you can use it to make money with Dronelink app and building inspections) looking at it when a friend showed me his I thought no water can really get in from anywhere, none the less it is a newer drone and will have conformal coating on it as well.
I only subscribed to your channel like the big reason because you are very humble, and well spoken! Always trying to help us out, good job mate, and I always watching your videos from Australia 🇦🇺
I’ve been watching every video on this drone since it’s inception. I appreciate the effort you’re taking to connect with us on a more personal level by answering questions. It feels more genuine and honest, and that’s priceless.
10:05 The Mini 3 Pro basically *is* the Air 2S. Just a smaller, cheaper, and quieter version of it. ...For my purposes, anyway. I fly professionally with the Mini 2, and when my friend asked why I don't upgrade to a larger drone, I looked into the specs and noticed the similarities between the Air 2S and Mini 3 Pro. Plus, in my experience, it's always better to draw less attention to yourself while flying (for many reasons). Needless to say, I ordered the Mini 3.
I don't have a Mini 3, however when I fiddle around or get updates with my Mini 2, i put a small office table fan in front of it and that keeps it cool without the possibility of overheating. I have noticed that if I don't place a fan in front of it, it does get very warm.
Mine will be waiting for me when I get home from work today. Everyone has been really thorough on explaining it so far, looking forward some upcoming adventures!
I did a manual dronie shot yesterday for my son's graduation because the quickshot was too shallow to climb over the trees, but I underestimated the height of the trees and crashed. It was worth it, though, because the graduates were watching the drone the whole time and they all screamed when it crashed! The footage is priceless! Needless to say, I'm going to upgrade my mini 2 to a mini 3 in the near future just for the obstacle avoidance! The Mini 2 was stuck in the tree about 30 feet up, and I had to run home to get a long pole and climb the tree as much as I could to bat it out. The drone is fine, but the Master Airscrew props took a beating!
Received my MIni 3 Pro yesterday. Watching a lot of your videos before I crash into a tree, again. That is how I lost my 4 year old Mini. LOL Great information!
Thanks for the video. I just got my Air2s in March and nearly cried when this Mini 3 Pro came out. So glad to hear your comment on the Air2s. I don't feel so bad now.
I cannot emphasize how important it is for a newbie to have a seasoned pro provide the kind of information and insight that you do when we're trying to make a purchase decision. You're my go-to guy. Thanks for helping me decide on the Mini 3 Pro as my first drone!
Hi. I have got DJI Mini 3 pro now. Great drone (my first :) ). Easy to fly and drone has surprisingly good camera quality. But no one mentioned that side sensors are not necessary when you disable side-to-side move control, what might be good for beginers. You can still flight forward and backward, up, down and rotate left and right. But no left-right side movement. Overheating is a problem when you transfer big files. It takes time and drone is quite hot. Mutch faster option is to swap media card. Anyway great drone under 250g.
good luck. i've had dji for years and i'm finally getting rid of all of them. they track your phone and mess with your phone. they get access to everything on your phone it's ridiculous. look for a US based phone instead if you care for privacy.
Appreciate your drone experience by providing your review on the Mini 3 Pro. I just decided to sell my Mini 2 to upgrade to the Mini 3... AND I got the After-care for 2 years... just in case. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Excellent Q & A video. One thing I’d like to add for beginners is these drones are very easy to fly. Hard to go wrong unless you do something very silly. Just let go of the sticks until you get yourself straightened around and your nerves are settled. Thanks again for the Q & A
Ok...Well Russ I've been a subscriber for 3 years now and you took it to the next level. Thank you so so much. I always look at your vids and have learned to fly and hopefully improve my skills. I go back to older vids you made all the time for advice....and finally found a video editor that WORKS!!!!! I tried all the free ones and the Adobe trials but Cyberlink Power director nailed it. You did a beginner vid way back on using this software and man oh man it is so easy and fast to edit vids I was blown away. I bought it immediately. Just so easy to figure out after I watched your tutorial. Thank you again and again. I fly the Air 2s and yes it's an amazing drone. I did a quick test the other day using all vid modes......4k 1080, slow mo, 4k60, 4k 30, 25, all of them....and slammed them into Cyberlink fast....and put in a soundtrack that I really like. Man oh man was it beautiful.....I played it on my 4K tv and it made me to tears. It was simply amazing to watch. So for your years of advice and tips I couldn't help but to support your amazing work by subscribing to your Patreon. Thank you soooooo much Russ. You did so much to help me. PS......I really want one of them hats please
Thank you for another great video. I already purchased my third DJI Drone. Started in a P3 standard, Mavic Mini, and now the Mini 3 Pro! All the Best from Portugal!
I ordered a mini 3 pro just remote and controller because I couldn’t afford the better combo. I love this channel and have watched a ton of your videos! This would help me out soo much. Have a great day.
Really good video! Just posted my own review of the mini 3 pro and I can’t believe how capable the D-Cinelike colour profile actually is! 10-bit makes such a massive difference!
Thanks for adding some more clarity - I can't wait to finally get mine. The more I watch the better it becomes. Great, straight to the point video again!!
Really great video! I've been watching every video about the Mini 3 PRO since its announcement; I have pre-order it and the Fly More package, which will arrive in June. Off all the channels out there covering this topic, your videos are the most honest and easy to digest. Thank you for that! This will be my very first drone so the Care Refresh will be a Godsend for me. Thanks again!
truly respect your message about the scammers, as you say it is a shame have to do it but i am impressed you added that to your video. thankyou for protecting your viewers
Good video, really interesting. I have a Mini 3. I am a drone noob but I have used it quite a bit now and I agree with the majority of your comments about ease of use, user-friendliness, etc. One point I would make is that you said that the aperture is variable but also that it is fixed - it can’t be both. Exposure on the Mini 3 is controlled by the electronic shutter and the sensitivity of the sensor. But don’t make too much of a deal about that. Wide aperture just means better light gathering but little depth of field, but that’s not a major issue for drones as the majority of your image is considered to be at infinity (optically speaking), so you don’t need a really high depth of field in most drone use cases. What having a huge aperture does perhaps cause issues with is in the case that there is too much light for the 1/8000th electronic shutter when the ISO is down at 100ISO, hence the availability of ND filters.
Russ, appreciate you taking the time to answer questions about the Mini 3 Pro. I also went and watched your 51 Things You Should Know video and have now ordered my Mini 3 Pro, I can't wait to get that baby in my hands.
Hello, I started following you since the Dji mavic pro ( which i bought because of you), as always honest and true reviews , thanks again, and now waiting for my mini 3 pro because of your 51 reasons why to get it.
Russ I love the channel, I watch faithfully every Sunday morning early before the rest of the fam gets up. I am anxiously awaiting my mini 3 pro with pro controller. Can’t wait to fly it. Have a good one and keep pumping out killer videos!
Is not only for the smaller size and less weight vs the Air2s, it's also the lower noise, I have both and I feel much more confortable fly the mini 3 now in places with some people around than I do the Air2 that brings a lot of attention when flying, that single thing I find it a huge plus for the mini 3 and the reason why I plan to sell my Air2s
very informative, especially about getting your drone wet. Living in British Columbia it rains like 10 months (well almost)out of 12 here. will need to invent a rain jacket for my drone.
Great video, Russ. Please do more like this. I also appreciate the discussion about the lowlifes. It's gotten out of hand and I report them all the time.
Thanks 51 Drones! I've watched a lot of Mini 3 Pro videos and yours are consistently well done, informative and entertaining. My Mini is ordered and I'll be reviewing your videos again before I take off.
I have enjoyed your your sessions and they very educational for the beginner. I am starting my Part 107 in hope of getting a drone business start up after watching you and a couple of other presenters 17:13
Signal range is affected by atmospheric conditions. One of the things as a weather forecaster in the military we would have to determine for pilots at times.
Can’t wait to get mine. You are correct, many people in the US have been receiving shipping notices, but I believe only label creation notices. I received my shipping notice on Wednesday May 25 and still not shipped. I’m guessing they won’t go out until Tuesday, May 31 with 3 day UPS shipping. So some may start getting Wednesday if they are close to CA, but likely no sooner. I’d love to get a year of DJI coverage!
Great informative video Russ, TY. I purchased the Air 2s about 2 weeks before the Min 3 pro announcement. I was on the fence for a long time about either returning the Air 2s or keeping it. The main thing holding me back was the 8-bit on the mini 3 pro. As soon as the Mini 3 pro upgraded the video to 10 bit I made the decision to return the Air 2s as I felt the quality and features were so close and some cases even better on the mini 3 pro (48mpix photos). I will put the money towards a newer drone release in the future like maybe a new DJI Air3s or new DJI FPV drone, once I get more comfortable flying drones by learning on the mini 3 pro. Thanks again Russ.
Russ, thanks for this Q&A. I've watched your videos on the Air 2S, and liked them, too. Would you consider doing an "Air 2S - one year later" video that would bring in any updates, and while focused on the Air 2S, contrast it with the Mini 3 Pro?
Lol...Love the station break towards the end. Always enjoy your entertaining videos. Can't imagine anyone selling their Air2s for the M3..Well maybe except Ken Heron.
Thank you for putting this together. I just got my Mini 3 yesterday and had a blast flying it quickly this morning. I got a pretty decent range of 5k around an open field without signal loss.
Love the drone advice, thank you for the awesome content!! We bought a Mini 3 pro for Christmas as we are trying to take our vlogs to the next level! We would really appreciate a DJI care refresh :D x
So, I had been looking at various drones for a while now debating on which one to get as a first timer and I saw the mini 3 pro at my local Costco last week. I did a few quick google searches and didn’t find anything really negative so, with nothing more to go on, I pulled the trigger on purchasing. Boy, am I sure happy I did, and trying to learn more about it I stumbled on your channel and again, so glad that I did. That said, I hope you can answer a couple of newby questions as I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems like the dji fly app learning center and documentation for it suck. It took me 3 days just to find the owners manual online as a pdf and all but one of the videos I’ve watched in the app are in Chinese with subtitles which makes it hard to watch the content and read what’s being discussed. So, first question, am I doing it wrong? I am really struggling to learn, for example, I tried to make a point of interest shot of my own house so I could see a birds eye view of my solar panel installation but I cannot figure out how to invoke that menu which leads me to my second question. All of the videos I have ever found show the controller with the integrated screen and they all seem to magically jump to whatever menu is being discussed, for example, making the construction site into a tilt shift video, it’s like suddenly here is the menu on screen to set the waypoints. Okay, but where is that menu and how is it invoked? Specifically, and what I haven’t seen anywhere, I have the controller that uses my iPhone as the screen and I cannot figure out how to get to any of these menus. I have only had the drone for a couple of days, and had less than 2 hours so far to tinker but, is there, and if so, where is, a video explaining the controller functions and specifically how to invoke them as it relates to the non-screen (or uses your phone for the screen) controller? Thanks! I’ve already learned a ton from your channel and was especially elated to learn I accidentally bought a fantastic first drone. Cheers!
I can’t wait for mine arrive - DJI told me it should be June 9th…. Thanks for all your videos, I hvce been following you since the Magic Pro (I am just now selling mine) and they have been very useful.
Thanks for the heads up on the bots! It has been happening a lot on many channels. The reduced size and weight of the Mini 3 Pro and RC is the reason I purchased it in addition to my Air 2S. I like to go out and explore. The benefit f a smaller package to carry about is a plus for me. Being a few db quieter and the lower pitch sound also provides less chance of offending people near by. Just some thoughts for fence sitters. Cheers
I have ordered the Mini 3 as an upgrade to the old Mavic Pro. My debate was between this model and the full 3 Pro Cine. I think, based on your reviews, I will be happy with this model. THANK YOU for the reviews and knowledge!
@@Fee.1 In my HUMBLE opinion, it comes down to WEIGHT and SIZE. The pics/ video are comparable. but I like the 249gram weight and all that implies. But, I am not an expert :)
Great channel! Got my Mini 3 Pro last Friday and now waiting for the Fly More Kit coming next week. I used to own a Inspire 1 many years ago, awesome drone. :)
Another honest and thorough Q&A session. I don't have the DJI RC. I have the RC Pro with my M3. so as for SollysDroneMedia's question, I sometimes push the upper left return arrow on my screen, making the display retour to DJI Fly's welcome screen. It freaked me a lot the first time. Now that I'm aware of this "micro issue" I try to place my hands properly, but sometimes in the mist of the moment I touch this arrow! Not a big deal anyway... I gues i would have the same self-made problem with the DJI RC...
As always, good informative video packed with tips (some obvious, others not) and useful information. Getting my DJI Mini Pro 3 tomorrow and is stoked!
The duration of the file sizes demonstrated in the infographic are 60 seconds. So sorry I forgot to add the heading!
👍

Been enjoying your content since I have been researching the mini 3 pro. Ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and can't wait to get my hands on it!
I’ve been notified that my Mini 3 has shipped. I’m upgrading from a Mini 2
I am waiting for My very first drone... I purchased the Mini 3.. I am excited about it..
I have enjoyed your your sessions and they very educational for the beginner. I am starting my Part 107 in hope of getting a drone business start up after watching you and a couple of other presenters 17:13
I enjoy your channel. Very informative and entertaining. Look forward to applying your tips and suggestions when my Mini 3 arrives.
Thanks for this video, I am new to drones and watching this and your first in depth helped me decide to order a mini 3 pro.
Signal range is affected by atmospheric conditions. One of the things as a weather forecaster in the military we would have to determine for pilots at times.
Purchased and waiting for delivery. Excellent video, thank you.
Thanks for the FAQ update. Eagerly waiting for my Mini 3 Pro to be delivered this week. Cheers!
Got mine today, finding these videos really helpful, Thanks, Davy
Awesome video, my DJI Mini 3 Pro will be here on Thursday; I'm so excited!
Russ, thanks for this Q&A. I've watched your videos on the Air 2S, and liked them, too. Would you consider doing an "Air 2S - one year later" video that would bring in any updates, and while focused on the Air 2S, contrast it with the Mini 3 Pro?
Thanks for your videos, it's nice to get educated. I have bought the DJI Mini 3 pro and I !m a beginner.
Great information and love the Flyt Path shirt and support for your peers. keep up the great work!
Your videos have been super helpful since getting my drone. Beginner here and your stuff really helps. Thank you! Hope I win a contest someday!
Ohhh did circle at small pond almost lost drone …hit tree flipped thru branches but somehow kept flying at ponds edge . Wow Pro 3 mini !
The Mini 3 Pro has a smaller sensor than the Air 2S, yes, but more than twice the megapixels (48MP vs 20MP)
Great video! I am waiting for my Mini 3 Pro to be delivered. It will be my first drone, so I’m super excited about getting my hands on it.
I am still trying to pick my drone, but it will most likely be a 3 Mini Pro. Thanks for your videos!
Cheers!
I just ordered the mini3. I have the mini2 but man I can't wait
just got my Mini 3 Pro last week and that care refresh would be really a nice addon if something weird happens while flying :D
Nice, have a order, thanks to your channel. Hopefully I get it before Father’s Day. The care refresh will be a nice gift, Thanks JF.
Awesome my Mini3Pro Just shipped! will be here on tuesday!!! I can't wait! Great videos! thank you
I’m a new drown operator. Thanks for the helpful video.
Great Video! Helped me with my decision to upgrade my Air 2. Wanted a smaller more travel-able drone. Thanks
Great job Russ - and yes - so irritated that they got rid of Tripod Mode - let's hope that DJI listen and bring it back..
I can’t wait for mine arrive - DJI told me it should be June 9th…. Thanks for all your videos, I hvce been following you since the Magic Pro (I am just now selling mine) and they have been very useful.
What a great video. Still confused between DJI 3 and Air 2S
Still trying to decide which drone I want to get thanks for the very informative videos!!
Cheers
Agree. Its a good "AND" drone for the Air 2S, M3, and M2P owners.
I have ordered the Mini 3 as an upgrade to the old Mavic Pro. My debate was between this model and the full 3 Pro Cine. I think, based on your reviews, I will be happy with this model. THANK YOU for the reviews and knowledge!
I’m trying to decide between the air 2s and this
@@Fee.1 In my HUMBLE opinion, it comes down to WEIGHT and SIZE. The pics/ video are comparable. but I like the 249gram weight and all that implies. But, I am not an expert :)
Waiting for my mini 3 in the mail! So stoked to try out all your tips.
Just bought this drone. good to come across your channel as beginner. Thanks much
Russ, I really appreciate your comprehensive drone reviews. Thanks for your time and effort.
Great channel! Got my Mini 3 Pro last Friday and now waiting for the Fly More Kit coming next week. I used to own a Inspire 1 many years ago, awesome drone. :)
Another awesome video! My Mini 3 Pro will be landing this week!
I bought a DJI mini 3 pro yesterday because of your recent review!
I use a battery powered mini directional fan for when I need to have it still for firmware updates or transfers.
Besides from flipping over my mini 3 pro on first take off it’s really awesome little drone
My Mini 3 Pro is due to arrive June 6th. Can't wait.
Have watched you for years Russ! Always appreciate your expertise and perspective. AND I am also named Russ:)
As always, good informative video packed with tips (some obvious, others not) and useful information. Getting my DJI Mini Pro 3 tomorrow and is stoked!
