Wang Hao's RPB is the equivalent of Federer's backhand in Tennis. Just pure grace and beauty.
He is one of the best penholder in history with such a powerful backhand. We miss such a talented player in the elite competition circle.

I've watched Xu Xin, I've watched Wong Chun Ting and all those Xue Fei, Qiu Dang, Zheng Pei Feng, Zhao ZiHao. But man, Wang Hao RPB is unmatched and unsurpassable

I remember this era well. Wang Hao and ZJK always meeting in the finals with ZJK often coming out on top. Ma Long has always been an elite player but struggled with his mental toughness. But once he overcame it he was unstoppable and proceeded to become the goat 🎉
when I was in high school, I watched these matches of WangHao and MaLong. And now I am a penholder.
Wang Hao is the best even with his age. Just that backhand that changes the direction of the ball.
Everytime I feel bad about myself, I come here and watch this amazing Wang Hao, his latest and best form. Always makes me smile!
Not only Wang Hao is strong player in RPB, his forehand is equally powerful. No other penhold players nowadays could match Wang Hao as of 2023.
The French 17 year old teenage sensation Felix Lebrun comes close.
He has just broke the worlds top 10.
Wang Hao was really a gem, his reverse penhold backand was consistent and deadly. One of the best ever despite his inability to clinch a gold medal in the Olympics.

Lui Guoliang once said Wang Hao can ease past then world no. 1 Wang Liquin because his spin is far superior to the latter. But in speed, both are equal.
Not only does Wang have a tremendous reverse penhold backhand, he can go inside out on the backhand at will which is even difficult for shakehand to do.
Looking back at Wang Hao's BH, strength wise, FZD, LJK, Hugo, Dima are probably on the same level. But, Wang Hao could take on a ball a little bit earlier than them, making his BH more effective against ML.
All of them have lousy short game and crooked forehands.Actually,Wang Hao played mostly from mid distance 'cause he couldn't block to save his life.He had huge power from a stationary position which neither of them have 'cause they play with abbreviated swings and completely square stances.
ZJK Backhand was deadly too.
Poor Ma Long beats up every TT players we can think of with the exception of Wang Hao. If not for Wang Hao or with some luck, Ma Long could have won many more WTTC titles. If Wang Hao is coming out of retirement, I think Wang can still give Ma Long a world of troubles.

Ive changed my Rediculous 'Dan Seemiller grip' late in life to the RVP grip, and got the backhand of my dreams (for my level) Backhand now is my best shot!, and my forehand is no slouch. I thank and pattern my new grip and playing style to Wang Hao. Robert at 66.

Have you ever seen the GOAT (Ma Long) being matched and even dominated like this anytime else? Wang Hao - what a player - my favorite player of that generation and possibly of all time. The ONLY player in history to have come out on tops in head to head results against Ma Long. My current favorite player Fan Zhendong has an equally beautiful and similar game and is being mentored/coached by none other than Wang Hao
But this was a match played well before Ma Long peaked?
@@philipchan8396 ma long was always technically in his peak. Even during this time he would mostly win against Zhang jike. It's just his mental strength in big events against wang hao that made him lose

Even though technically superb, I think he tended to let emotions overtake him during finals or important matches, all along his career.
It is undeniable though that Wang Hao has been one of the greatest player of all time.
Yes, in 2004 and 2012 his emotions were a bit overtaking him
Zhang was just more talented and ma long was mentally stronger than wang hao

I want to see if Xu Xin will manage to use more RPB than the usual traditional penhold backhand nowadays. Wang Hao almost never used the traditional backhand but only the modern RPB.
@@isithardtobevegan53 I also want XXin to change his style, he only relies on his power forehand and I think he's too old to improve his backhand no matter with training from Wanghao.
I saw that recently, Xu Xin did change his backhand style from the traditional penhold backhand to RPB.

Wang Hao is handshake holder in penhold disguise. Unlike Xu Xin, none of Wang's wrist movement resembles penhold.
Hmmm...Wang Liqin almost always beats Ma Lin, Wang Hao almost always manages to beat Ma Long, and Zhang Jike almost always beats Wang Hao.

I understand. I suppose it's just a different way of showing respect. Maybe at the end of the game they should not hand shake. This would mean that they are very close?
+animaysh they are close friends. a formal hand shake means nothing to them. do you make a formal hand shake with your best buddy? they simply dont care about the handshake because they spent so much time together, it means nothing
I shake hands with everyone I play and try and make eye contact. What you say is right though, I don't train with these people 7 days a week. That said - I have seen players not make eye contact and do weak hand shakes with players from other countries.
