My mama loved this song. She requested we play it at her funeral, and we most certainly did. Thank you for such an amazing piece of music i will forever hold dear to my heart.
This song is a beautiful narrative of what we are all desperately missing during these times. I can't wait to have ALL my loved ones around my table again. Thank you ladies for the absolute perfection of this song.
My son just sent this song to me and said I HAD to listen to it!! I’ve now listened over 100 times since yesterday. I’m a mama of 9 kids and this song is the mantra of my life!!!! May everyone be welcomed and accepted and loved!!!! I too want this sing sing at my funeral.. but more importantly I want me life to sing this love each day!!!
You can hold my hand When you need to let go I can be your mountain When you're feeling valley-low I can be your streetlight Showing you the way home You can hold my hand When you need to let go I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let us take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done If we want a garden We're gonna have to sow the seed Plant a little happiness Let the roots run deep If it's love that we give Then it's love that we reap If we want a garden We're gonna have to sow the seed Yeah I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let us take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done The door is always open Your picture's on my wall Everyone's a little broken And everyone belongs Yeah, everyone belongs I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let us take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done And bring us back together when the day is done
I am not typically a "country" fan aside from Pasty Cline and Dolly Parton, but when I heard this song in passing, it honestly made me almost instantly start crying. I had to come and listen to the whole thing. Lovely song and message, I cried like a big baby the whole time! The video, the lyrics, the beautiful voices; very meaningful.
The message is so universal. I love it. It's such a basic human need to be part of some kind of family. To be missed when you aren't there, to be accepted when you are. This song is in many ways stating the obvious, but we need to be reminded of these things, so thank you!
My bonus daughter introduced me to this song, she told me I taught her this, because I just love a crowded table with all my love ones gathered around. I love it!
So very impressed by the talent and the choice of songs from these ladies (and their whole group of musicians and writers)! Sometimes collaboration is just awesome and this is one of those times.
I have homeschool four kids and our family is often in the position of hosting friends and family and strangers for meals, etc. in our home. I love my life and I'm grateful to have good work to do but I also have substantial mental health issues. I just heard this song a few days ago and it changed my life because it reminded me in a hopelessly poignant and vulnerable way of "why" I do what I do.
Often I have to stop, regroup, remember and redesign. That’s when I listen to this incredible sound. Helps me put things into perspective in this crazy world. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.
This song gets me every time I hear it. I spent a long time isolating myself from friends and family, focused more and more on my household and all we were going through, embarrassed by our living situation. When I finally convinced my wife that we had to make big changes, starting with moving, it was hard even to get her to look at houses. I played The Highwomen for her and we listened to this song over and over. I told her this was what I was really looking for, more than a literal house, I wanted to open our lives back up, bring in the people we love, make friends, get to know the neighbors . . . I wanted a home where I could share time with other people and they would feel welcome. It's a work in progress, but it's working, and this song helped us find the words to talk about what we needed.
This song became an anthem/ray of light during the height of the pandemic… but it was more than that. “Everyone’s a little broken…” such simple and true words. Thank you Highwomen.
Redesigning Women is the song that would wake up our 6th grader on her alarm every morning. I miss that little part of our routine since she is sleeping in a little now, but feel grateful to be healthy and safe at home. We listen to your music throughout the day, and I am stoked to see this new video 😊
How the hell can this have less than a million views? This is an amazing song for our desperate times. I can't believe this hasn't gone viral, especially after winning a Grammy, for God's sake
The video of them all is so beautiful... its like they knew they all, all of them created this beautiful song and were now collectively part of something bigger than themselves standing alone... they are all, together, that Crowded Table
I've tried to maintain a crowded table for my kids n family.... my son has been passing along to his boys this beautiful treat!!! Family around the fire
The harmony is incredible. I would love to hear them sing "Take It To The Limit" by the Eagles. This song is amazing. Got here from following Brandy Carlisle who is so talented. Hope they get together for another album soon
Reminds of going from NJ to Long Island, to my cousins house for Christmas. One of the few times a year, we didn't argue over petty shit. This song is one of the few good things we've received in 2020.
Jensen Ackles and his daughter brought me here. They have a cute video of them singing this and it got me interested. And it is a really beautiful song. 😄😄😄
Congrats for the Grammy win- Best Country Song for 2021!......and congrats to the songwriters- Lori McKenna, Natalie Hemby, Brandi Carlile. Lori also wrote a coupla other Grammy winners including "Humble and Kind" and "Girl Crush."
This song and video is such a beautiful representation of what this album was. Seeing the twins and Jason supporting, and the whole community around this project is so cool.
A dream we have a crowd table good friends and family. Sitting together laughs and crying. In these dark days we all need that table and those people to sit around. We live life together yet apart, but there are those days where we all want celebration and joy. So a beautiful song here's to good friends and all the stories we share together.
What a wonderful song! I can not believe I am just hearing it now Jan 2021. 2020 really put a number on so many of us. I sure hope you win the Grammy this year for this!
Just saw Brandi Carlile in concert at the Gorge Amphitheatre. It was fantastic! The band's that opened, Luscious, and Sarah McLachlan, each played for at least an hour. We had to leave before complete end, so missed last few songs. I looked for local write up and hear they ended with this song, "Crowded Table". Seems very appropriate. 🥰
You ladies kick ass - your music is just amazing! Thank you for coming together and making our lives richer - your sound is like heaven in my head. 🎹🎸🎻💕
My mama loved this song. She requested we play it at her funeral, and we most certainly did. Thank you for such an amazing piece of music i will forever hold dear to my heart.
I played this for my mom over and over again as I sat and held her hand while she was in hospice. And then at her memorial. It’s everything.
May she Rest In Peace sorry for your loss
This song gives the goosebumps, reading your post made those goosebumps even more so... So sorry for the loss of your mom
This made me cry. Hope mum smiled from heaven 💙
Thank you for sharing, that’s really beautiful 😊
I just literally cried for reasons unknown to me. That is the affect of ethereal music like this.
This song is a beautiful narrative of what we are all desperately missing during these times. I can't wait to have ALL my loved ones around my table again. Thank you ladies for the absolute perfection of this song.
I'd love to sit in a table with folks I disagree with and still get along, aka Thanksgiving dinner 😆
Why you so good w/ words?! 🙌
My son just sent this song to me and said I HAD to listen to it!! I’ve now listened over 100 times since yesterday. I’m a mama of 9 kids and this song is the mantra of my life!!!! May everyone be welcomed and accepted and loved!!!!

Same. Large family mama song.
You can hold my hand
When you need to let go
I can be your mountain
When you're feeling valley-low
I can be your streetlight
Showing you the way home
You can hold my hand
When you need to let go
I want a house with a crowded table
And a place by the fire for everyone
Let us take on the world while we're young and able
And bring us back together when the day is done
If we want a garden
We're gonna have to sow the seed
Plant a little happiness
Let the roots run deep
If it's love that we give
Then it's love that we reap
If we want a garden
We're gonna have to sow the seed
Yeah I want a house with a crowded table
And a place by the fire for everyone
Let us take on the world while we're young and able
And bring us back together when the day is done
The door is always open
Your picture's on my wall
Everyone's a little broken
And everyone belongs
Yeah, everyone belongs
I want a house with a crowded table
And a place by the fire for everyone
Let us take on the world while we're young and able
And bring us back together when the day is done
And bring us back together when the day is done
Quietly crying while waiting for the day my table can be crowded table again. This is inexplicably beautiful.
Emily Neumann agreed
Amen! Let's all remember this when the storm passes. We CAN do this.
Girl yes !
فففف
It really is.
Amen! Amen! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Sow a seed.
