I love these gals as a group and individual. They each have their own style and that came together as THE BEST FEMALE COUNTRY GROUP. The best thing is that support each other as solo artists. My kids tell me I need to listen to more music than just The Highwomen.
Not only is their music stellar - Cocktail and a Song is one of my favorites on the album - , but I love how they're trying to push country music into the 21st century. The genre definitely needs more female representation and country radios definitely need to give more air time to the female country music artists already out there because they are making some really great music.
The Highwomen CD has been 2 weeks No. 1 in Country Billboards. No shortage of talent in that scenario. For those that don’t know them: Maren Morris: 1 Academy of Country Music Awards, 2 APRA Music Awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards, 1 Country Music Association Awards and 1 Grammy. Brandi Carlile: 3 Grammys, 1 Americana Music Honors and Awards, 1 UK Americana Awards and probably the most amazing voice and songwriting nowadays. Amanda Shires: 1 Grammy, 2 Americana Music Honors and Awards, 1 UK Americana Awards Nathalie Hemby: songwriter with more than 40 well known titles and several hits. It is, indeed, a supergroup.
April 2 2020 was the first time I heard & I fell in love with your amazing sound keep it up and may your music sky rocket threw the roof ,good for you pretty woman . Stay safe and social distance with this covid 19 virus that we are going through. We love you Highwomen
Natalie is tremendous. She has weitten some great songs and sings like an angel. Give her a show of recording again. She helped write Rainvow and does a great job of singing it.
Maren Morris I love her voice I love the song in the middle that's how I found her that song they play every morning on the McDonald's radio station when I'm having coffee
Country music has roots in bigoted beliefs, misogyny, and racism. I’m so glad people like Dolly Parton and these ladies are evolving the genre. Not everyone is a straight white overly religious male who lives in a bigoted town with bigoted beliefs. Country music is for everyone!!!!
Yes, there is inequality towards women in country music, particularly on the radio. BUT, There are plenty of women in country music. We need more people of colour in country music! It's one of the least racialy diverse genres out there.
I agree. The only black artists currently in country music that I can think of are Darius Rucker and Jimmy Allen. Both are great!! But they rarely get played
While I agree with this statement, theres not many people of color making country music. There have been a few attempts but, it was too much like hip hop. With that being said, there are some 'artists' that I feel dont represent country music. They think, I grew up on a farm and any music I do is country. Not true.
What two women was she talking about them only playing on country radio? (I don't listen to country much, but I actually like them and they sound really good together). My guesses are Taylor swift & Carrie Underwood , but I'm not sure if they actually play TS on country stations or not ...
I’ve listen to country music for EVER! I’ve heard and seen amazing women. Please don’t play the “I’m a woman so I don’t get the opportunities”. Ugh that’s so ridiculous!

Agreed the problem is the lack of quality of music the radio wants to play. Kinda sad that they are playing the woman=victim game when it's a quality problem.
That's what I'm wondering... if it's a quality or even just a sound quality that listeners ate looking for and not a sexist preference thing. Honestly wondering.
@@lisagrace6471 I can't speak for every country music fan but it definitely is quality for me. Not many "traditional country" fans actually like Maren Morris. Don't get me wrong, she is talented and her album did deserve to be in the top 5, just NOT on the country charts however
@@janeEyreAddict yeah. I was curious so listened to her charting song tonight and didn't sound like country at all- sound like alternative or indie music. Good singer, but sound isn't close to country. Also, I am a singer considering going the country route and I was talking tonight about all this and the whole women and country narrative and I don't know that that makes much sense to me... because it seems if it was truly radio stations being misogynist about airplay, we would see the same discrimination in other genres. Yeah?
@@janeEyreAddict also as a traditional country fan, do you like singers like carrie Underwood and shania Twain? Thanks for sharing your point of view:)
Oh boy,so how about Juice Newton,Patsy Cline,Loretta Lynn,Tammy Winette and so on and so forth? 🤣🤣 The country of 2019 isn't true country music. Period.
Brandi should have taken that hat off inside. Many of these country stars look ridiculous wearing these large indoors. Ellen should have asked which male singers they would like to duet with.
I thought they were The Highwaywomen. Maybe the one who is too timid to speak on camera is not the best one to be in a group promoting the strong women of country. What's her deal? Or is that just her thing to get herself noticed?
I'm not so sure they are promoting strong women as much as they are saying women have a voice that is not being heard. In my opinion Amanda Shires is one of the best song writers ever. She has 8 solo albums and lots of work she does with other musicians. I don't know any of her songs I would classified as simple little ditties. She does songs that get inside of you, not the easy grabs like making you sad, glad or mad but the ones that make you think about your fellow human being. I think she is one of those people that value most of all; kindness, consideration and empathy and yes, people like that can appear timid but, personally I want to hear what they have to say.
I love how nervous Amanda is. She is so sweet!
So charming and delightful
Yes, she seems so relatable!
And hot
Amana's singing voice is amazingly haunting and very unique.
She is genuine and beautiful. I’d be incredibly nervous too
0:42 “Brandi take it from me now”
2:41 “take it from there Brandi”
😂 cute
She may not be a great public speaker but, she sure writes some song lyrics that will change the way you see the world.
Woahhhhhhh armys are everywhere
“Don’t call Brandi. And don’t call me.”
I really like their message on representing more females in country music. This is something that should be done more.
Amanda is so adorable!
Jason is a lucky dude. She got him sober as well.
amen to that Bro , what a stunning Lady

Maren's right though, female country music artists don't get anywhere near as much airplay as the males.
I hope they go a long way ahead with their music and change the current situation
Oh, Amanda
Not really a fan of country, but def. a fan of what these ladies are setting out to accomplish. Also huge fan of Brandi’s solo work.
Listen to The Story for early Brandi.
Huge fan of these women all of them can write such good songs and can sing

I love how Amanda starts sipping tea when the girl in the green dress starts talking about herself on the radio. 😂😂😂

Happy Batik Day!!! Perfect timing to see Batik worn by one the Highwomen ❤🇮🇩
Excuse my ignorance
I'm new to that design,
I Googled it and still dont get it 😅

The one who sits far away from Ellen.
Thanks for wearing the batik. U look amazing
This is so delightful
Ellen’s hat 😆. 💜❤️ Ellen!

Thx for using batik❤ I'm a proud Indonesian :'(
Beautiful southern women & their country accent. Not a country fan person but they same fun shy Amanda

She wore Batik❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Does anyone here even get the reference to The Highwaymen?
I think we are more excited that there is an amazing female group that is telling our soul stories in such a beautiful, strong yet delicate way.
Yep
Not the the group I was expecting to play off the biggest legends in country, but they did come up with it

I think it’s Carrie Underwood and Kelsea Ballerini
I assumed Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. New Taylor Swift music doesn't get played any longer.

The girl in the left was wearing brown dress, I guess her dress was batik from Indonesia 👍
Ellen I love you!!!
she wear batik❤️
Cewek yang paling kiri pakai baju batik kah? Amaze

O my Ellen! That hat is hot!

Not that all the women aren't beautiful but Maren is STUNNING

1 album sorry I don’t see it anywhere on the charts ?
Billboard #1 for Country charts
I live in Nashville and have never heard of this band
That’s part of the story, radio doesn’t play them.
When you wanna say something but you don’t know what to say
its not much of a difference but there's three Kelsea too
I wouldn't even invite Ellen to a barn demolition party.
Is Natalie wears Batik dress ? Gorgeous
Ellen needs that hat!
Henlo peach
Hey google... Who is Jordan Preston ??
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I would HARDLY call The Highwomen country.
It’s country
Not Nashville country-politan.
Natalie wears batik? Is it?
Kayanya sebentar lagi masuk line today 😅
is it just me or that Natalie's dress is batik?
Natalie uses Indonesian batik cloth??

Women don't get played on the radio nearly as much as men these days. It's a well known fact. It didn't used to be that way.
Diana feels used
