"I Love You, America," a Hulu Original Series.
From inciting treason to telling poop jokes, Sarah Silverman has created her fair share of online chatter. With "I Love You, America," she's looking to connect with people who may not agree with her personal opinions through honesty, humor, genuine interest in others, and not taking herself too seriously. While it's great to connect with like-minded people, Silverman feels it's crucial, now more than ever, to connect with un-like-minded people.

      @yokie52 5 ปีที่แล้ว +67

Hm, not hate, afraid. I think she is a smart woman, who has to push away a lot of outside thoughts and influence to keep that mental Jenga going in her head. If she were to change, where would she go? Her husband is in charge of the family, she can't question him or won't get into heaven, look it up - tenant of Mormonism, she may not see her children again. Fear, greater motivator than love.

Giovanna Greeff Thanks for sharing. As I just replied to Yokie Miller I was just referring to that glare she gave Sarah at one point in the clip. It gave me a smile, not in a mean way. I understand the workings of almost every religion. It's something I study ad-nauseam, although there is nothing like first hand experience.
In this instance, and this is just my opinion, Sarah was being humorous, or I guess a bit sarcastic which can upset people when something is serious to them. The show is going to have lots of that approach because, well, let's face it she's a comedian. Unlike many others watching I do think she wants to hear these other views and I don't think she is out to change anyone, she's only out to have a dialog and communicate with those of differing views.

Guys, I think the mom has some sort of nerve disorder that causes uncontrollable movements in her lips--I'm serious. Look at 2:55 it looks like she is muttering something to herself and then she does it again at the dinner table. I personally don't think the mom is angry with Sarah at all, it can just be a bit overwhelming to be on national television when you're accustomed to such a low-key lifestyle. Just my two cents.

I absolutely agree. So many of the commentators have painted her as an "ice queen" and wanting nothing to do with Sarah, but my feeling was that she had a lot she could have said but felt restricted somehow. When the talk was about going on the missions, it seemed that she was disappointed that women were not valued in this role as much as the men were. There was a lot going on inside that woman, a real struggle between feelings. To me, that made her the most interesting person there.

Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here. I am active in my faith but hold some fairly so-called liberal views. I believe that we would do well to have some common-sense gun laws, I cannot fathom why gay marriage should be illegal (such a thing is not only unconstitutional but really unconscionable to me), and I cannot stand Trump or the current administration. I just thought I would chime in to show that latter-day saints are a diverse lot

This isn’t a great economy. We are living in an economic bubble. What you see on the surface is not an indicator of what’s really going on. Do some research! It doesn’t shock me that you know nothing about the actual economy- stagnant wages, massive inflation, people with minimum wage or no jobs who previously had full time good paying jobs, the 1%ers doing stock buybacks making Wall Street falsely look good, instead of trickling down their $61,000 each sweet deal permanent tax cuts that only affect the top 8% of the richest people in the country, while our temporary tax cuts are ridiculously insignificant and our taxes will steadily increase for the next 10 years, the epidemic of people going bankrupt due to student and other debt, medical bankruptcies and the imminent financial crisis we are headed to. Don’t worry... We don’t have high expectations from a FauxNews consuming mama’s boy basement dwelling low IQ troll. Don’t forget mom said- put the wash in the dryer since you’re down there.

I knew you were referring to that portion of my comment. Stop projecting ignorance.
I was only confused because nothing you said made any sense. Yes, I do think I was making a point. A damn good one. It just went way over your head, unlike all the other people in this comment section and those that liked my comment. My point is this. You said- liberals, Republicans and liberal media lose their minds when Trump/admin does something they see as bad. That didn’t make sense because NO Republicans comment about anything he says/does wrong, much less lose their minds over it! “You’re just circle jerking with out trump haters who are too stupid to realize that not every Anti-trump comment brings up a valid point.” AGAIN... Makes no sense! My original point is that Obama did small things that didn’t desecrate the office every day like trump’s doing and right wing media would talk about that thing for weeks at a time. Yet when Trump does something horrific, not a single Republican says a word. If you see liberals getting mad for things that Trump says and does every single day and you say “it’s not that big of a deal,” ask yourself this. If Obama or Hillary were in office, would you be OK with them doing and saying everything Trump is doing and saying? For example (Hillary) having MSNBC talk about how wonderful she is 24/7 and their hosts gave her advice every day on how to run the country. Hilary talked on a private but secure server and is still persecuted over it to this day. There was NO hacking of her emails! Trump is currently talking on a non-secure cell phone every day and homeland security has tracked Russian and Chinese hacking into the phone. Again, not a peep from the right. If you say you wouldn’t mind someone on the left doing everything Trump is doing, you are lying to yourself.

@@giovannagreeff2153, I respectfully disagree that the reason for the fast was about Kavanaugh. First off, so you dont misunderstand, I am a LDS but was appalled with Kavanaugh being confirmed. The way he acted during his testimony, the lies, not to mention the likely assault, bbrrrg. That said, fasting from social media has been mentioned at many conferences and multiple times by church leaders.
Also, I guaran-damn-tee you my wife would not be afraid to speak up. She has a fire to her and I love it. I like to think our marriage is egalitarian, at least overall (there are certainly times when I am busy and she does more or when she is busy and I do more). Nope, nope. Not true. Do not interpret someone's personality on an edited tv show as evidence of how women in a church are "expected" to behave. As a female member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints myself, I would leave it tomorrow if I was expected to submit to my husband. Not one woman in my life (mother, mother-in-law, sisters in law, friends, etc) feels that they are anything other than an equal partner in their marriage. If a married couple in our church is not practicing a loving, supportive, equally yoked partnership, then they are not in line with the teachings of the church. End of story. That being said, I do not agree with this family. Most members of the LDS church that I know who are conservative Republicans do NOT support Trump. He is an egotistical tyrant and we pray for the day he is no longer in office.

These formations and reservoirs we frac are literally THOUSANDS of feet BELOW the water table. The risk to the water supply is an nth degree. Very very small chance of a localized spill.
And we absolutely DO need fracking *right now* for our energy needs. With OPEC controlling oil reserves and Russia controlling gas, we had no choice but to become more energy independent. It adds to our economy: Americans working on American land producing American oil and gas for American consumption. Period.

Hunting is not mentioned anywhere in the Federalist Papers, much less the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Its purpose is expressly to allow the people a means to protect their rights, and includes both a personal right and a state right to bear arms to such an end.

@@@bigfan1041 I really don't understand why you perpetuate this NPC meme. It's one of the more hateful, scary things that has come out of the Internet. I am also confused by the NPC videos you like where they put the NPC face over Hillary and a talk show host. In my view, this de-personalizes human beings and paves the way for truly bad things.

A very nice family. Hard humble workers and their kids are lucky to be growing up with good values(not referring the religious aspect). I don’t agree with this family on everything, but I won’t go far enough to insult them and say they are what’s wrong with America. That would be messed up. They obviously had enough kindness to welcome SARAH SILVERMAN into their home. Good job Sarah for being respectful and good job Micheli family for being gracious and good sports. Let’s turn down the polarizing opinions and meet in the middle. We need more shows like these and less hate. 😎😎

I'm not crazy about the premise of this video. Not all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are conservative republicans. True, a majority of members of the faith are considered republican/conservative, but I personally don't feel that idea is representative of the church as a whole, especially with the swinging doctrinal shifts in either political party. Although I will admit that many younger members are heavily persuaded by the political beliefs of there parents, and they have a hard time developing political stances of their own. THAT was very apparent in this video. This is just my understanding as a life-long member of the faith who is also a self-proclaimed liberal.

so, it's better not to have gun laws because criminals don't follow the laws? Do you know how many more criminals there would be if those laws didn't exist? Did you see Sarah with that gun? Imagine everyone owning a gun with no laws. Then those "criminals" wouldn't be criminals and a lot more innocent people would be dead.

And the GOP have done their best to destroy the USPS... By creating an artificial requirement that they pay for their pension liabilities 70years into the future. If ANY other corporation had that requirement - they'd go right out of business.

That's what our country needs right now, to agree to disagree, but still be civil and kind to each other. We are all Americans that love our country that was built on compromise, that's what has made it so great!

We need groundwork and talking, civilly, to one another, will be the start.
