I'm 67, so according to the actuarial tables I've got 9 short years left (the years pass faster as I get older). I want Sarah to deliver a disrespectful eulogy at my funeral. It might make other people laugh. And, I won't be in any condition to be bothered by it.
Funeral industry is a rip-off and outdated. The reason headstones were started was to prevent plowing-up grandma in the spring planting. A modern system would be an unmarked natural burial in a dedicated park with your life story in a database (Wikitree.com) that anyone can access. This would help preserve open, undeveloped land, while at the same time preserving everyone's memory. The parks could include town historical society buildings, with maps of the grave-plots for those so inclined to know. Anyone with large unused plots of land take note.
We have something like this in the Netherlands - you purchase a small bit of land (a square meter or two) where you are burried and they mark the grave with a tree trunk slice that will naturally decompose in a few years. Later it'll turn into a forest and be managed as a natural park, meaning they can never put a parking lot or a shopping mall on top of it. It's a lovely an peaceful place to go.
I bought an urn that doubles for planting a tree. shrub, whatever. Also got a protective netting thing to ward off critters. Leaning towards planting a redwood tree. That way I can sorta live on for several hundred years.
Hahahahaha "She will never be my real mother" lmao!! Jewish Daughters know who their real mom's are even if our step mom's have been married to our dads for over 30 years!!
Just finished listening to Sarah’s episode after both Janice and Schleppy died and this is just soo wild. That episode made me cry so much. RIP Janice and Don.
THANK YOU SARAH!!! I wish all kids and parents to know how really important these things are. And not hugely complicated or costly either. Our wonderful father was fortunately very organised, with an advanced medical directive (living will), designated power of attorney, Neptune society for cremation a comprehensive will be discussed generally with us. None cost anything (except the will that required an attorney - but he could have had it done by the public trustee for free). The end of a parent's life is rough. Really tough. It was tremendous comfort to know that he'd thought of us and how to make things easier. And it certainly did. It's a strange thing that one can show love after passing by allowing your descendents to avoid painful bureaucracy. But I'll take it.
Watch as your expenses increase with aging. My TriCare/military medical insurance was $79 per quarter now that I turn 65 I have to switch to Medicare for $169 per month. My vehicle(s) insurance was $1100, turning 65 increased my rates to $1650 at the same company. For those on fixed income retirement will be a bummer as you age.
I'm looking for the least harmful option, so either cremation or meat grinder + composting. Haven't run the numbers for energy and environmental efficiency between the two options yet.

I sent this to my mom to start the conversation in a funny sort of way.
OMG 😱 Sarah's Dad is literally Golden! (The worms crawl in....the worms crawl out...)....."He's kept Satan 😈 waiting for five whole years!" 🤣 LMFAO!! Begs the Q...is Sarah a product of her Dad, or.....is he a result of Sarah?! Either/Or......I just wish there could be soooo many more videos including her beloved Dad. 💕 💕 💕 💕 💕
Youth and old age According to the informational space diagnostics of ICD (diagtor.com.ua) for the first time it was established that at birth of a child, 86% of embalmed nerve cells and 14% of living nerve cells are in the body. Embalmed nerve cells are disconnected from the circulatory and lymphatic systems, reduced by 50 times and are not involved in the vital processes of the body. With age up to about 16-18 years old, all embalmed cells gradually become living, they are connected to the circulatory and lymphatic systems, and the person receives his maximum biological development. Next comes the aging process, when living cells again turn into embalmed and the number of living cells decreases to 14% by old age, after which the person dies. With the help of ICD, the information doctrine of rejuvenation of IDO is being developed, which allows returning a person to his young 16-18 years old from any old age transfer all embalmed cells of the old organism to the state of the living. After this, the process of normal aging begins again. The implementation of the EDI takes about 27 months and takes place at the command of the Creator through God and the Soul of man. I think resuscitation should be illegal. DO what you can but doctors more often leave people worse off. Nature needs to take it's course. Death will get you eventually. And in less than 100 years total too.
I don't really think that video will be of much help, legally. Clearly, he does not want to be kept alive by artificial means with no meaningful chance of recovery. But he needs to spell that out in a document and have it posted on his refrigerator. It wouldn't hurt to have it notarized, wither. He has to be very specific, if he doesn't want artificial resuscitation after a heart attack (which could lead to living n a brain-damaged state) he has to write that down in the document. Sarah herself or her sister or his wife will likely have to make a lot of decisions, too. This made me think of my late father. He sang that same song.
This is hilarious and I just happen to be looking into end of life insurance and all the other details that go with it. It’s freaking complicated. Unless you just have a lot of cash you can throw at it. Tossing my body out the back of a pickup truck into a ditch in the countryside unfortunately does not seem to be an option. Burning my dead corpse in a funeral pyre or sailing it off on a longship into the sea just doesn’t cut it anymore unless you can figure out how to do it on the sly and longships are not cheap either. Maybe a raft, but there’s that whole legal thing. Dead bodies,... blah, blah. Who gets what or better yet, who has to pay for what? God, and I thought life was expensive and complicated. Rest In Peace Donald Silverman.
Aeral scattering ... can I just go with "random splattering" - like a dusty blast of champagne, if such a thing can be envisioned, or some *really* dry martini shake gone horribly wrong? (Put on them goggles ... hold your breath ... wait for it ...).
Kate Green : I'm not sure I know what you mean, but if you mean the thing that had a little advert in there somewhere, I think that was post cremation, which wouldn't really feed much.... ?
“Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, ‘Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.'”
OK this seems a little violent to our sensitive Western tastes, so the mushroom suit comes a close 2nd for me. My last days medicated by shrooms, micro dosed of course, enjoying mushroom as nourishment , then consumed by mushrooms after I expire. Mushrooms are good people.
@@bucklesmagee3806: oh, neat! I didn't know about this practice [edit: Sky Burial, as outlined in the wikipedia article]... now I want that! :D (Though the mushroom idea also sounds pretty reasonable.)
Donate my organs, cremate the rest. Put me in a pretty box or urn. Have a nice wake with drinks and appetizers. Don't waste money on a coffin or gravesite, keep me on a shelf.
"She will never be my real mother. Never!" W.T.F. You treat you parents like crap. You're disgusting. My step father will always be my one and only "real" father. My real father never gave my mother a cent in alimony or child support, and only came to visit us kids twice since after the divorce. My step father was always there for me in my times of need. He was very proud of my accomplishments, and treated me as any "real" father treats their "real" children. Also, I would never make fun of either of my parents they way you do. I respected them too much.

This video should be required viewing if you're older than 40. We need his healthy, comedic view of life/ death.
Sage words.
